Chapter 1054 Playing with Children

Lola felt like someone had stabbed her in the heart, and she thought it had to be someone she knew.

How could she let Henry see those comments?

Lola quickly deleted the post.

But the person who wrote it just got more persistent after Lola deleted it. They kept copying and pasting the same comment over and over, flooding her comment section with hundreds of identical messages, each ending with: [Go ahead, delete it again if you dare.]

Lola was furious.

"Lola," Henry called out as he walked in.

Lola quickly exited the page, locked her screen, and wheeled herself over to him with open arms.

Henry embraced her immediately.

"I'm so glad you're back safe," Lola said, tears welling up in her eyes. "I knew you were being slandered. That person is so awful, targeting you of all people. If I had the power, I'd tear them apart."

Henry chuckled and patted her back. "It's okay. I recorded a call with one of my subordinates, and even though the other one only managed to send a text before he died, the previous call recordings can prove my innocence."

"As long as you're okay," Lola said, releasing him and flashing a bright smile. Then she looked worried. "Did you really announce our engagement so soon? What if your parents find out?"

"The reporters asked about our relationship, so I had to clarify and give you a proper status," Henry said, ruffling her hair. "Don't worry about my parents. I'll handle them. Briar told me you didn't eat dinner after I left."

"I was worried about you," Lola admitted. In truth, she had snacked quite a bit after sending the servants away, but with so many snacks in the house, no one would notice a few missing bags.

Just then, Briar knocked and brought in dinner from the kitchen.

Henry had asked her to bring it up.

"I'll feed you," Henry said gently to Lola in her wheelchair.

"You haven't eaten either. Let's eat together. My hands may be a bit shaky, but I can still manage a spoon."

Henry laughed again. "If you're worried about me, we can take turns. One bite for you, one bite for me."

Lola pretended to be shy.

Briar set the food on the table and smiled knowingly. "I'll leave you two alone."

Meanwhile, Phillipe went to get the car from the parking lot, while Abella and Rainey waited on the tree-lined path in front of the restaurant for him to drive up.

The restaurant was nestled in a serene grove, offering great privacy and comfort. The parking lot was a bit far, emphasizing the escape from the hustle and bustle.

Rainey was sharing some interesting stories with Abella when suddenly, the restaurant behind them went dark, along with all the nearby streetlights and lamps.

"Why did the power go out?" Rainey barely finished her sentence when Abella yanked her behind her.

Rainey turned to see a knife embedded in the tree where she had just been standing. If not for Abella's quick reflexes, the knife would have hit her heart.

Out of nowhere, several masked assassins appeared, each wielding short knives, swiftly attacking them.

"Who are you?" Rainey was terrified.

But what shocked her even more was Abella's agility and skill.

As two knives came at Abella from the front and back, she kicked the front attacker away, grabbed his knife, and slashed the arm of the one behind her, causing blood to gush out.

Rainey watched in horror as Abella pushed and pulled her like a puppet, dodging attacks. When she finally looked around, all the assassins were on the ground, defeated by Abella.

Rainey was stunned. There had to be at least ten assassins, but each one was clutching a wound, writhing in pain.

"Not killing you. I want you to deliver a message to your boss: I'll find him. And tell him to spend more money on better assassins. You guys are useless." Abella snapped.

Rainey was speechless, still in shock, as Abella spoke to the assassins.

"Take your stuff and leave," Abella said, tossing the knife in front of them, more as an insult than a threat.

Some assassins couldn't even stand without help, thanks to Abella's heavy blows.

A car's headlights illuminated the bloody scene as Phillipe arrived.

Seeing the defeated assassins retreating, he quickly got out and asked, "What happened?"

"Nothing much, just sending a message," Abella replied nonchalantly, opening the car door for Rainey.

Rainey, still shaken from the movie-like scene, couldn't move her feet.

Phillipe sighed, "You're hopeless."

Since Abella wanted the message delivered, he didn't order a pursuit. "Are you hurt?"

"Playing with these kids, how could I get hurt?" Abella replied.

Rainey was once again struck by Abella's words. Such a dangerous situation, and to Abella, it was like playing with kids.

"Good. The mastermind must be getting desperate," Phillipe said, looking at Rainey. "Still not recovered?"

"Almost," Rainey said, feeling like crying. Her legs were still numb, making her feel even more embarrassed compared to Abella's calm demeanor.

At Long Island Manor, Abella returned home, and Kimberly rushed to her, linking arms and smiling. "Abella, you're finally back! There's a charity ball tomorrow, and we want the whole family to attend. Your brothers can't make it, so your dad and I want to take you. Can you come with us?"

"Sure," Abella agreed. She had planned to attend anyway, as the ball had invited her as the founder of QY for years. Now that her identity was public, she might as well make an appearance.
