Chapter 854 Netherhaven
As soon as Abella got off the plane, she got a worried message from Kimberly. After replying, she looked up to see her subordinate, Theo, there to pick her up.
"Ms. Medici." Theo immediately noticed that Abella had changed. Not only was her style different, but her aura was no longer as cold and distant as before.
Now, Abella's eyes sparkled with life, and her presence was captivatingly elegant. She looked stunning.
Theo, who had finally gotten the chance to see her, wore a pure, innocent smile on his face.
He had always envied Sam and Tony for being able to stay by Abella's side, sharing in her adventures, while he was often sent on missions elsewhere. He only heard about many things from other subordinates, including the news of Abella's relationship, which had just reached him a couple of days ago.
Once Abella got into the car, Theo began his report. "Ms. Medici, we still haven't secured Vitality Isle. There's a man there, and without his permission, we can't do anything."
Vitality Isle had a unique climate and environment, perfect for growing various delicate herbs. The island also had several rare herbs that would be invaluable for Abella's research.
Take the Rejuvena Herb, for example. Abella previously needed over a dozen different herbs to replicate 80% of its effects, but the island had plenty of Rejuvena Herb, which many mistook for weeds due to its appearance.
Abella had planned to purchase the island at a low price, allowing the herbs to flourish while transplanting other delicate herbs there to aid her research.
"Who is this guy?" Abella asked calmly.
Theo wasn't sure. "All I know is that he's incredibly powerful around here. Everyone speaks of him with reverence... He's very mysterious, and few have seen him. Vitality Isle is in his hands, and his subordinates have blocked us several times. We still haven't managed to buy it."
Vitality Isle was a rare opportunity for Abella. If she could acquire it, the value of the herbs and the potential for future research were highly enticing.
"Try negotiating again. We can offer a higher price if necessary." Abella ordered.
"Got it."
Theo glanced in the rearview mirror before continuing, "By the way, Ms. Medici, the seller has agreed to part with the item you wanted, but they require you to pick it up in person."
"Time and place?"
"Tonight at eleven, Netherhaven, Box 11."
Abella nodded. "I'll go alone tonight. You don't need to come."
"Ms. Medici, please let me accompany you." Theo had always wanted to protect Abella, and now that he had the chance, he didn't want to miss it.
After some persistent pleading, Abella finally relented. "Alright, but follow my lead."
"No problem."
Theo drove her to the hotel and insisted on carrying her bag to the door of the presidential suite. Only after seeing her safely inside did he flash his innocent smile. "Ms. Medici, I'll pick you up later."
"Okay."
Meanwhile, the dimly lit basement reeked of blood.
A man hung suspended in the air, his body battered and bruised. Several subordinates, exhausted and panting, had failed to extract any useful information from him.
"Mr. Medici, he still won't talk." The subordinate was at his wits' end. They had beaten and threatened him, but nothing worked.
A handsome, devilish man sat in a chair, his thin lips curling into a merciless smile.
He looked at the battered man through the bars, playing with a snake in his hand, and said nonchalantly, "Then there's no need to keep him."
The snake hissed, its menacing gaze fixed on the injured man.
It was a rare, mutated breed, impossible to mass-produce artificially. Raising such a snake required selecting from countless eggs, hoping to get a mutant. The cost was so high that each snake was worth nearly three million dollars.
Dennis had a collection of these snakes, keeping them as pets.
"The snake seems excited." Dennis extended his hand towards the bars, and the snake quickly coiled around the railing, hissing as if ready to strike.
Louie flipped a switch, and a swarm of snakes slithered out from the base of the walls, hissing menacingly at the man hanging in the air.
"Let him be of some use before he dies." Dennis's tone was indifferent, as if a human life meant nothing to him.
The man's feet were just inches from the ground.
"Just letting the snakes bite him is too easy." Louie thought it was too lenient.
Dennis smirked. "Let these little creatures have their fun first. Then we'll throw him somewhere worse."
The man, hearing Dennis's words, felt his scalp tingle with fear.
The snakes moved forward in waves, ready to bite the man's ankles.
He quickly pulled his feet up in terror.
The snakes hissed again, trying to get closer.
Dennis stood up, about to leave.
"Bobby Owens told me to meet him at Netherhaven after completing the task!" The man shouted, just as a snake bit him, causing him to scream in pain.
He didn't know if the snake was venomous, but he knew he wouldn't survive if he didn't speak up!
He had hoped that Dennis, wanting answers, would spare his life until someone came to rescue him...
But Dennis was as ruthless as the rumors said, releasing the snakes and planning to feed him to the dogs...
Rumor had it that Dennis kept over a hundred large, fierce dogs, known for their aggression and ferocity...
Dennis exuded a wild, cold aura as he walked away, seemingly uninterested in hearing more.
The man, enduring the pain, shouted, "Only I can meet Bobby. He's very cautious. Any sign of trouble, and you'll never catch him. Spare me, and I can lure Bobby out..."
He was bitten several more times, his face contorted in agony.
Dennis left the basement.
Louie activated the system on the wall, raising and lowering the rope, toying with the man.
The man screamed in terror.
"What else?" Louie asked.
"I didn't know about the fire back then. I just did what Bobby told me to do..." The man was scared out of his wits.
Louie finally turned off the switch, using sound waves and food to lure the snakes back.
The rope lowered, and the man fell to the ground, writhing in pain.
The door opened, and Louie walked in, pressing a foot on the man's wound. "Don't try any tricks on Mr. Medici's turf."
"I-I wouldn't dare..." The man gasped in pain, his voice trembling. "I'll definitely help you lure Bobby out..."
