Chapter 1070 Sleeping Together

Hearing that, Kimberly's heart ached even more for Abella's suffering.

How did Abella manage it? Twice the pain, it must have been unbearable.

Phillipe felt as if an invisible hand was squeezing his heart, making it hard to breathe.

Abella had endured such excruciating pain, yet she chatted with him as if nothing was wrong, even comforting him.

That damn Isla, he wanted to skin her alive and tear her apart right now.

"Over the years, Abella has gotten used to handling everything on her own, but she forgets that she's only nineteen, still just a kid," Rodolfo said, his eyes reddening. "She needs to rest and stick to a light diet."

"Thank you, Mr. Wilson, for coming all this way," Kimberly said gratefully. "I've had some snacks prepared. Please stay and rest after you eat."

"No, I need to get back. Thanks for your kindness, but I have more important things to do," Rodolfo said, holding up a blood analysis report. "Based on these results and the antidote Abella made, I have a good idea of what poison she was exposed to. I need to find the person who developed it."

This poison was too dangerous to be on the market, especially in the hands of the wrong people.

He needed to trace it back to its source, which might help with their investigation.

"Abella's antidote was perfectly formulated. She's out of danger now." Rodolfo added.

"Thank you," Kimberly said, personally seeing him out.

By 1 a.m., Abella's door still hadn't opened.

Kimberly couldn't help but worry. "I hope she's okay."

"Mr. Wilson said she's out of danger but needs rest," Beckett reassured her, then looked at Phillipe on the sofa. "Phillipe, I've had some snacks prepared. Why don't you eat something and rest in the guest room?"

Phillipe was sitting in the upstairs living room, directly across from Abella's room. He would see her as soon as she opened the door.

"Mr. Medici, I'm not hungry," Phillipe said gently. "You all should rest. I'll stay with Abella when she wakes up."

"But..."

"I'm not tired," Phillipe explained. "I can't sleep until I see Abella. You all have been worried all night. Get some rest; you'll need your energy to deal with Isla later."

Eventually, Beckett and Kimberly were persuaded and went downstairs, leaving the snacks for Phillipe.

But Phillipe didn't eat a bite. He kept his eyes on Abella's door, phone in hand, giving instructions.

Around 6 a.m., Abella finally opened her door. Phillipe immediately stood up. "Feeling better?"

Abella was surprised to see he had stayed all night.

The snacks on the table were untouched, and his perfectly tailored suit still had her bloodstains from the night before.

She couldn't help but feel moved.

His eyes were slightly bloodshot, but they still held a deep, unwavering affection.

Phillipe stepped forward and hugged Abella, his voice filled with concern. "Are you still in pain?"

"I'm fine," Abella said softly, hugging him back. "Didn't I tell you I'd be okay after some rest?"

"Mr. Wilson said the pain you endured was like having a C-section without anesthesia, twice as painful," Phillipe said, his heart aching even more. He nuzzled her face, unable to bear her suffering.

Abella had just showered, her scent intoxicating, her soft cheeks irresistible.

"Don't listen to his exaggerations," Abella said with a faint smile. "It wasn't that bad."

"I know you were in pain," Phillipe said, holding her. "Is there anywhere that still hurts? Are you dizzy? Any pain?"

"No, I'm fine."

"Isla has been taken to the police station, as you instructed."

"Good," Abella said, looking at him. "There are clothes for you in the closet. Go take a shower and rest."

"I'm not tired," Phillipe said, gently caressing her face.

"You still need to rest," Abella insisted, leading him to the closet. Inside was a cabinet filled with clothes she had made for him in her spare time, using just fabric and a small sewing machine.

Abella handed him a set of comfortable, warm loungewear.

Phillipe was surprised and touched that Abella had made so many clothes for him. "Can I take all of these with me when I leave?"

"Some aren't finished yet," Abella said with a smile. "You can take the ones that are done."

Phillipe leaned down and kissed her, savoring the moment. These clothes were the best proof of her feelings for him.

"Go take a hot shower," Abella urged.

When Phillipe finished his shower, Abella had already brought breakfast. They ate together, and afterward, she sent him to the guest room to rest.

"Stay with me for a while," Phillipe said, pulling her into his arms and covering them with a blanket. "I can only sleep well with you here."

Abella lay in his arms, surrounded by his scent.

Gradually, Phillipe fell asleep.

In front of Abella, he let down his guard and cold exterior, becoming as gentle as a child.

Abella noticed his long eyelashes and flawless skin, looking delicate and clean.

At this moment, he seemed more like a boy his age, without the maturity and responsibility he showed to the world, but with a touch of youthful energy and innocence.

Seeing his even breathing, Abella gently moved his hand, intending to get out of bed. But as soon as she sat up, Phillipe instinctively grabbed her clothes, opening his sleepy eyes to look at her.

"I'm just going to the restroom," Abella lied without a hint of guilt.

Phillipe sat up, ready to accompany her.

"No need, you go back to sleep. I'll be right back."

Hearing her say she'd be back soon, Phillipe, still half-asleep, sat on the bed waiting, his eyes barely open.

Abella reached the door, but seeing him still sitting there, she told him to lie down. He didn't seem to hear.

Abella returned to the bed, intending to make him sleep, but Phillipe, thinking she had returned from the restroom, pulled her back into his arms. His scent enveloped her once more.

This time, to let Phillipe sleep well, Abella didn't move again.

Soon, a servant noticed Abella's door was open, but she was nowhere to be seen. The table had remnants of breakfast for two, but no one knew where Phillipe had gone.
