Chapter 526 Got a Girlfriend
Plus, people had been fed up with the T3 Research Institute's shady actions over the years. So things got so bad that even the big shots couldn't keep a lid on it, and they had to call in Phillipe and his team for help.
But Phillipe was ready. When they showed up, it was like walking into a trap, only sinking them deeper into trouble.
With Abella and Winston's crew stirring the pot, the situation blew up fast.
It grabbed worldwide attention.
Big names got dragged into it, scrambling to clear their names. Entrepreneurs were issuing statements left and right, all jittery and on edge. Everyone tried to explain, but nothing could stop the wildfire from spreading.
Kimberly sat on her couch at home, glued to the news, her world turned upside down. "Is this for real? How did things get this bad? Have these problems always been there?"
"Oh my God, how could this happen?" Even the servants, checking their phones, felt a chill run down their spines.
The world they knew seemed completely different from what was being exposed.
Just then, a servant rushed in. "Mrs. Medici, Ms. Wren is here."
"Clara?"
Kimberly, still in shock, saw Clara walk in with a bunch of gifts and a bright smile. "Why do you always bring so much stuff? I told you, you don't need to bring gifts when you visit."
"These are fruits from a distant relative; they're super sweet. I picked them myself. And I found this coffee at an auction. They said it's got a really rich flavor, so I brought it for you to try."
Clara showed off her gifts, and Kimberly quickly took them. "You're so thoughtful. Winston just got back from a trip with Abella and is swamped with work. Sit down; I'll give him a call."
"No need, Kimberly, don't bother him. I just came to see you."
"I actually need to talk to him. Let me go upstairs and grab something I got for you today."
Kimberly felt bad about always accepting gifts from Clara without giving anything back, but Clara always refused to take anything.
While shopping with Lola today, she thought of getting something for Clara.
Clara thought she had won Kimberly over and felt happy inside.
Kimberly called Winston and quickly said, "Winston, Clara is here again. What do you think of her? Be honest. I think she's great—good family, good character, good looks. Why not give it a shot with her?"
Winston was giving Nicole her medicine with his phone on speaker. He didn't expect Kimberly to say that, and before he could respond, Kimberly kept going.
"Clara visits us often, cares about us, and always brings stuff. Last time I had a stiff neck, she massaged it, and it was fine in no time. It was amazing."
"Lola's away at school, and with no young people at home, Clara keeps me company, does beauty treatments with me, and has coffee."
"And your dad, last time his back hurt, she brought medicinal porridge, a therapy machine, and even got a famous doctor to check on him."
"Even though she grew up rich, she doesn't have that spoiled attitude."
"Mom, Mom."
Winston felt Nicole and Raymond's eyes on him and quickly cut in, "Mom, I've told you a million times. Clara and I are just friends. I have a girlfriend, and I'll bring her to meet you soon."
As soon as Winston finished, Nicole quickly covered his mouth, signaling him to stop.
Kimberly's words had already made Nicole feel the gap between her and Clara.
Winston felt the soft touch of Nicole's fingers and kissed her hand lightly. Nicole, a bit annoyed, instinctively pulled her hand back.
Raymond, watching this, got even angrier. 'How could Winston take advantage of Nicole at a time like this?'
"You have a girlfriend? Since when? Why haven't you mentioned it to us?" Kimberly was shocked.
They had been dating for a year, but he never told his family. Raymond was even angrier. Why hadn't him told the family?
"Is she your age? What does her family do? Do I know her? Which family is she from?"
Before Kimberly could finish her questions, Winston sensed Nicole's changing emotions and quickly interrupted, "Just don't give Clara any more hope. I'll find time to explain things to her."
"Winston..."
Kimberly wanted to ask more about his girlfriend, but Winston quickly hung up.
Downstairs, Clara was eagerly waiting. When she saw Kimberly coming down, her eyes lit up even more.
"Clara, here are some clothes I bought for you. I don't know if they'll fit. I wanted to see you try them on, but something came up, so I can't stay to entertain you." Kimberly lied.
"It's okay, Thank you for buying me so many beautiful clothes. I'll try them on at home and send you the pictures. I won't stay to bother you." Clara politely got up to leave, not forgetting to thank Kimberly.
Watching Clara leave, Kimberly wondered what kind of girlfriend Winston had. How heartbroken Clara would be when she found out.
In Moon Bay, Raymond looked coldly at Winston. Nicole quickly spoke, "Raymond, you should rest. I'm tired and want to sleep."
"I have a question." Raymond stared directly at Winston as if trying to see through him. "Have you been in contact with the Wren family's daughter this whole time? Does she often visit your home? Are you very close? Have you never mentioned Nicole to your family?"
"Raymond, I told you to rest." Nicole's eyes showed a warning, not wanting Raymond to interfere.
But Raymond angrily said, "This guy says he loves you, cares about you, searches for you everywhere, but secretly keeps a backup girlfriend."
"Raymond, you misunderstood."
Before Winston could explain, Raymond snapped, "I heard it clearly just now. Your family doesn't even know you have a girlfriend!"
They had been dating for a year, but he had never mentioned it to his family, so they kept arranging matches for him.
Seeing the situation, the servants quickly ran to find Abella.
