Chapter 500 Being Found Out Soon
Clearly, there was an urgent matter at hand.
Ernest took a step forward and whispered, "Ms. Medici isn't inside. Whatever it is, it can wait until tomorrow."
He was worried that too much noise would wake Winston, who was inside.
"No time for that." Raymond's expression was particularly anxious. "I need to see her, and it has to be right now."
The twenty or so people around them were getting annoyed.
"You think you can just see her whenever you want?"
"Just because you saved Ms. Medici once, don't get too cocky."
"If you want to see the boss, you'll have to kill us first."
"Who do you think you are? Ms. Medici isn't your lackey. You can't just see her whenever you feel like it. Know your place."
Even Phillipe had never been this arrogant.
Was this guy really thinking that just because he saved the boss once, he could treat them like they were nothing?
"Sorry, but I have no choice," Raymond said as he swiftly made his move.
Ernest immediately responded, not intending to harm Raymond but to explain, "Ms. Medici really isn't here. She went out on business."
"I don't believe you."
Every second was precious to Raymond now. He had to see Abella not a moment later.
"It's the truth. Even if you find this entire castle, you won't see her." Ernest continued to avoid any serious confrontation, dodging as much as he could.
After all, the guy had saved the boss's life once. The boss remembered that favor, and so did he.
But Raymond was different.
Desperate to see Abella, he struck with ruthless precision. Within a minute, he had already landed several blows on Ernest.
This action undoubtedly sparked public outrage.
"Ernest was going easy on you, and you still don't appreciate it."
"Who gave you the guts to cause trouble in the castle?"
"Let me handle him!"
In the bedroom, Winston had a terrible dream. He dreamt that Nicole was suffering from the effects of some drug, writhing in pain and crying incessantly.
He wanted so badly to help her, but he was powerless. All he could do was wipe away her tears and hold her in his arms.
Suddenly, a clap of thunder jolted Winston awake. His forehead was covered in a fine layer of sweat.
It was just a dream.
He sighed in relief, wiped the sweat from his forehead, and heard the sound of a storm outside. Faintly, there seemed to be some arguing as well.
Ignoring the pain from his wound, he got up and went to the window. It looked like someone was trying to force their way into the castle, but Abella's men stopped them. A confrontation had ensued.
Worried, he opened the door and saw someone standing guard not far away. He raised his hand slightly, signaling the person to come over.
He hadn't expected Abella's place to be even more heavily guarded than Valleydale. There was a team on the second floor alone, taking turns to keep watch, ensuring high security.
"Mr. Medici? Why are you awake? Is there something I can help you with?" The speaker was Jimmy, one of Abella's loyal followers.
Winston asked softly, "What's going on outside?"
Jimmy, realizing what it was about, explained, "Someone wants to see Ms. Medici, but our people didn't let him in."
"At this hour, looking for Abella?" Winston glanced at the clock on the wall. It was already 2:14 AM.
Was he out of his mind?
Couldn't it wait until tomorrow?
Why come here in the middle of the night, in the rain, to cause trouble?
"Ignore him," Jimmy explained, "We'll handle it. Sorry for waking you."
"Alright, as long as it's nothing serious." Winston then looked at the door to the next room and asked softly, "Abella wasn't woken up, was she?"
"No," Jimmy said, somewhat guiltily, quickly lowering his head. "Maybe the storm covered the noise outside. Or maybe Ms. Medici is just really tired and sleeping deeply."
Winston thought about everything he and Abella had been through today. She was indeed exhausted. Without thinking much, he nodded. "Thank you for your hard work."
"It's no trouble at all. Serving Ms. Medici and Mr. Medici is our honor."
Winston was about to go back to his room but then added, "By the way, leave him alive."
He had to go with Abella and Phillipe tomorrow to the location Nicole had left behind. He didn't want too much commotion to draw unnecessary attention.
Jimmy was taken aback but quickly said, "Don't worry, Mr. Medici. He's Ms. Medici's lifesaver. We won't harm him."
They were all going easy on him.
"Lifesaver?" Winston was about to enter his room but turned back. "Did he save Abella?"
Jimmy didn't know that Winston was unaware of this and, feeling both surprised and uneasy, had to explain, "When Ms. Medici first came here, she was alone and almost died. Raymond appeared and saved her. They say Ms.Medici was gravely injured, barely hanging on. If it weren't for him, she would have..."
"Why was she hurt?" Winston's heart ached, and he couldn't help but ask, "Who hurt her? Why bully her?"
The questions took Jimmy aback. "Ms. Medici is so beautiful. When she first came here, some people had bad intentions, wanting to take her for themselves. She was alone, looking for herbs, and naturally faced difficulties. Ms. Medici has had a tough journey."
It really made everyone in the A Gang feel compassionate for her.
Hearing this, Winston felt a mix of realization and sorrow.
Of course, Abella was so beautiful. Coming to such a dangerous place, it was inevitable she'd attract attention.
No wonder she later hid her identity as a woman, rarely showing her face. Whenever she did, it was as "Boss A" to avoid unnecessary trouble.
"Mr. Medici, please don't tell anyone I said this," Jimmy said, feeling uneasy. He had no idea the boss hadn't told Winston about her past, probably to avoid making him sad.
Seeing Winston's reaction, he felt he had spoken too much, making Winston sad.
Outside, Raymond held a knife to one of the men's throats. "Don't push me."
"You, let Curtis go."
The crowd grew even angrier.
Curtis held hostage, didn't dare move.
Everyone was furious.
"What do you want? We're only going easy on you because of Ms. Medici. Don't push your luck."
"Do you have to wake up the entire castle tonight?"
"I'm telling you, Ms. Medici hates being threatened. If you know what's good for you, let Curtis go!"
The commotion outside grew louder. Winston didn't go back to his room but walked to the corridor window to look out.
It seemed one of Abella's men had been captured.
Jimmy felt uneasy. If the noise outside continued, and the boss didn't come out of her room, would Winston suspect she wasn't there?
Thinking this, Jimmy said, "Mr. Medici, don't worry about it. You should go back and rest."
"Abella—I need to talk to you—"
In the pouring rain, Raymond's voice was particularly clear. He shouted, "I need to see you—"
