Chapter 346 A Mysterious Man

The moment Abella reached the bottom of the hospital building, her phone vibrated; it was Dr. Smith calling.

"Abella, have you left the hospital? If not, can you come up for a moment? There's someone who would like to see you."

Abella was puzzled. "Who?"

"Someone from America’s security department." Dr. Smith's voice dropped slightly.

Several question marks popped into Abella's mind. The American security department? Equivalent to the national intelligence services, the highest counter-espionage and political protection agency in the country. But why would they seek her late at night, and in a hospital?

"The person you just saved, they're part of the security force. Their leader wants to meet you."

Because employees in such positions have special identities that are not publicly disclosed, Abella understood.

"Alright, I'm coming up now."

After hanging up, Abella briefly explained to the man beside her, "They probably want to ask about the patient's condition. Wait for me in the car; I won't be long."

"Be careful on your own, and call me if anything comes up."

"Okay."

Once Abella arrived upstairs, Dr. Smith led the way. "He's in my office, with a few of his subordinates."

Worried she might be afraid, Dr. Smith reassured her. "I'll be right outside. If you need anything, just call me, and I'll come in immediately."

"Understood."

Dr. Smith opened the door and waited for Abella to enter before closing it, leaving them space to talk.

What caught Abella's eye was a tall silhouette, dignified and upright.

"Minister, she's here."

His subordinates, all looking young and full of integrity, stood before her.

The man turned around, his face not only youthful but also exceedingly handsome, radiating a vibrant charisma.

"I performed the recent surgery. May I ask if there's any issue?" Abella inquired.

Surrounded by a group of such courageous men, she felt not an ounce of fear, but instead remained exceptionally calm and serene.

The henchmen didn't anticipate that their new arrival would be a young lady with her hair tied up in a bun, nor did they expect her to be so courageous. Even with the minister standing right there, she showed no a trace of fear.

Her mental fortitude was exceptional. Everyone else in the Security Department felt intimidated just by his presence.

"How old are you?"

The leader's voice was clear, his eyes bright and seemingly without malice.

Abella replied truthfully, "Eighteen."

The henchmen were astonished: An eighteen-year-old dared to wield a scalpel?

Although the Security Department had its share of young prodigies with extraordinary talents, they had never encountered someone as young and beautiful as her.

"Have you studied medicine?" the leader asked.

"I have a rudimentary understanding," she admitted.

"Why aren't you in school at eighteen?"

"I am enrolled in school."

"Which university?"

Abella grew slightly impatient, "Is this relevant to the surgery I performed tonight?"

The henchmen were even more astounded. Did she know who she was speaking to? This was the Deputy Minister of America's Security Department! If it weren't for his young age, his meritorious service would have already earned him a ministerial rank!

Here was a young lady, undeterred by his imposing manner, seemingly ready to overshadow them all with her presence. It was sheer arrogance!

The leading man smiled handsomely, "You performed the surgery well. Would you be interested in joining our Security Department?"

The young lady had previously performed several complex surgeries, demonstrating skills unmatched at her young age.

The identities of those in the Security Department were kept confidential, and sometimes they sustained injuries during special missions. There was an instance where a domestic spy was discovered by a foreign nation and was forced to ingest newly-developed poison, dying a horrific death.

Her student facade was perfect for concealing her true activities. Her medical expertise was a rare and valuable asset that could save more lives within the department, if they could have her join their ranks.

"Pay is not an issue, but you must keep your work secret, including from your family."

The offer from the Deputy Minister of America's Security Department was not a small token of fortune; it was a chance of a lifetime! This young lady must have saved the Milky Way in a past life.

As the henchmen expected her to be overwhelmed with gratitude and readily accept; Abella spoke up, "Sorry, I don't have the time."

The henchmen were in shock. What could a young girl possibly be so busy with?!

"Do you mind if I ask if you have other plans?" the man continued, his tone respectful.

Abella hummed indifferently, "I need to attend school. I'm too busy."

Besides, she had plenty of work to do, and a man to please.

The henchmen's eyes widened in disbelief. They were offering an olive branch from the Security Department and she was talking about school?

"Little sister, joining the Security Department won't interfere with your studies!"

"After you graduate, you'll need to find a job. What job could be better than a position at the Security Department?"

"This is an immense honor, a chance to serve your country. You should think it over!"

Several subordinates spoke up one after another.

Abella nodded indifferently, "Yes, I've thought it through very carefully, and I'm sorry, but I can't join you."

The subordinates looked at each other, at a loss for words.

"What a pity to not have such a talent serve our country," the leader asked, "What do you plan to do after graduation?"

Abella didn't hide her intent, "I'll dedicate myself to the medical field, but not just to save a small group of people."

For her, every project and direction she researched was about saving more lives!

The man was unexpectedly impressed by the young lady's lofty aspirations and admired her more, "You can still join the security department and do that."

He was still trying to persuade her, something unprecedented in his career!

Abella raised an eyebrow, "When your department has even more skilled doctors, surpassing my medical expertise, or better medical equipment. I might consider it."

The subordinates were truly enlightened; the young lady was perhaps a bit too arrogant!

"Our medical equipment is something you can't simply buy on the market! It's all top-notch. Our doctors are also highly skilled!"

"Then why couldn't you save the person tonight?" Abella asked, looking up with an earnest and obedient expression.

The subordinates were left speechless...

Indeed, it was because the doctors in the security department were unable to do anything that they had to seek help from major hospitals under the guise of an ordinary person.

If the young lady hadn't intervened tonight, number 7731 would have died. That's why they were also looking to recruit more talent like her to serve the country.

But Abella wasn't ordinary; she wasn't going to be confined to a small world, only saving a handful of people there.

"Is it convenient to add each other on WhatsApp?" the handsome man asked again, "If you change your mind, contact me anytime."

Abella had never regretted her decisions, but seeing his sincerity and considering that he was from the security department, she added him on WhatsApp out of politeness.
