Chapter 30
"Grandpa wants to see you." Phillipe's gaze fell on the girl opposite, his magnetic voice gentle and seductive. "When will you be available?"
"Abella, since Sir Bourbon wants to see you, why not go tomorrow?" Kimberly asked tentatively.
"If you don't want to go as my fiancée, you can go and show your concern on behalf of the Medici family," Phillipe said smoothly.
"That's a good idea!" Beckett was impressed by his cleverness.
"Right! Just go and express our concern," Kimberly agreed.
Abella thought, 'You have not asked for my opinion!'
"So Abella, how about visiting Sir Bourbon tomorrow? You've been home for two days now. It's time to pay a visit," Kimberly added. "After all, he proposed your engagement, and Phillipe is an eligible fiancé."
Ryan was still in the hospital and his condition was said to be critical.
As a junior of the family, Abella should pay her regards.
"Yes, you should go," Beckett instructed with a smile. "Bring a gift. It wouldn't do if you go there empty-handed."
"Don't bother. Your presence is enough," Phillipe replied clearly.
"That won't do. We must observe proper etiquette when visiting Sir Bourbon for the first time!" Beckett insisted.
"I'll take care of it then," Phillipe gently glanced at Abella and said. "Shall we fix a specific time later?"
Abella put on an arrogant look. But seeing her parents' anticipatory gazes, she eventually replied, "Okay."
It was just to see how Ryan was doing, after all the Medici family accepted his blank check a few days ago.
After chatting briefly, Phillipe stood up and said lightly, "It's late. I'm leaving now."
"You gotta go? But Phillipe, you brought so many gifts..." Kimberly didn't continue as she saw Phillipe stop in his tracks and turn to say with a deep voice, "It's just a small token of appreciation."
"Abella, why don't you see him off?" Kimberly turned to Abella.
Abella was speechless.
"No need. Please take your time, Ms. Medici." The word 'Medici' carried a profound implication.
Looking at Phillipe's faint smile, Abella raised her eyebrows and got lost in thought, 'Is he blaming her for only telling him her given name but not her surname?'
In fact, she had just taken this surname two days ago and wasn't familiar with it yet.
"Rest well, my fiancée."
'What fiancée? Did I agree?' Abella queried inwardly.
Beckett and Kimberly were overjoyed when they heard this! It seemed that Phillipe was fond of Abella. Their relationship was better than expected!
Lola couldn't hold back anymore and ran downstairs. She rushed to the garden and called, " Phillipe!"
Seeing Lola rushing over, Gabriel blocked her way immediately. "Miss Lola, what's up?"
Lola looked at Phillippe's figure with great anguish in her heart. "Phillippe, Sir Bourbon's condition is worsening because of me. I'm really sorry. Thank you for not mentioning it in front of my parents."
Gabriel thought, 'Mr. Bourbon simply doesn't care about you.'
"I heard that Sir Bourbon isn't doing too well. I want to visit him. Can you give me a ride when picking up Abella tomorrow?"
"No need!" There was a hint of coldness in Phillipe's dark eyes as he spoke. "Grandpa just wanna see my fiancée, not you."
Lola didn't expect him to refuse so decisively. Though heartbroken, she still held onto a glimmer of hope and said, "Abella is your fiancée. But I can go as a Medici. Phillipe, please let me make an apology." Lola looked at Phillipe with anticipation, hoping he would agree.
Phillipe's dark, brooding eyes were hidden by his dark eyelashes, exuding an icy aura.
"Only my fiancée can represent the Medici family," he said in a ruthless tone, his deep-set eyes and sharp jawline exuding an air of indifference.
"Phillipe..." Lola tried to catch up with him but was stopped by Gabriel. He said sternly, "Miss Lola, Mr. Bourbon already has a fiancée. Please behave yourself."
Lola couldn't believe that this assistant dared to stop her. He had been very respectful before Abella came!
"If anyone sees this, it won't be good." Gabriel left these words behind as he followed after Phillipe.
Seeing Phillipe walking away, Lola shouted, "Phillipe! Believe me or not, I really didn't mean to harm Ryan. I didn't mean it!"
Gabriel wondered, 'Does Miss Lola think that Mr. Bourbon becomes so indifferent because of Sir Bourbon? Everyone could see that Mr. Bourbon wasn't interested in her at all! It seems that Abella is different though...'
In the living room, looking at all the gifts received, Kimberly asked, "Abella, what about them?"
"You guys handle it," replied Abella as she went upstairs. She never expected there would be a fiancé to deal with. Things were more complicated than she had imagined.
"Phillipe..." Lola sobbed softly in the garden as she watched him leave.
Maria supported her and said, "Miss Lola, he's already gone."
"Maria, what should I do?" Lola raised her tearful eyes pitifully and said. "It seems like Phillipe is more interested in Abella."
"The game has just begun. It's not over until it is over!" Maria analyzed rationally while gently rubbing her back. "Ms. Medici grew up in a humble family. All she has is a beautiful face. She may not be able to catch Mr. Bourbon's eye. The Bourbon family won't accept her as their daughter-in-law."
She added, "Unlike her, you are well-educated. So you have a great chance to marry Mr. Bourbon."
Lola felt that Maria's words made sense and stopped crying.
On the other side...
Abella had just returned to her room when her phone rang with a familiar number. It had called earlier today.
She answered the call and heard Phillipe's voice on the other end. "Abella, I'm home."
"What's up?" Abella asked instinctively.
This question amused Phillipe. The girl didn't catch his meaning. He was reporting his whereabouts.
