Chapter 744 Reward

"You can hit up Uncle Caleb," Abella said with a sly grin, keeping things on the down-low.

Earlier, Sam got nabbed by Caleb's crew 'cause of some mix-up. Later, Caleb figured out she was the boss of The A Gang.

"Now that you bring it up, I'm dying to know," Bonnie said, whipping out her phone to text Caleb. Then she asked, "You even know about the Umbra League? They ever give you any grief?"

From what she knew, the Umbra League was a big deal, but Abella handled them solo, not letting them get the upper hand. Her rep was seriously next-level!

Bonnie added, "From what I hear, there's still a leftover crew scattered around Verdania. Leave it to me; I'll make sure they're all exposed, not a single one left."

Abella replied, "Those small-time groups are no sweat for me, Aunt Bonnie. No need to stress over it."

With the big shots out of the picture, Abella wasn't sweating these minor players.

"But these guys are like gnats, always buzzing around and messing with your life. I know you can handle them, but over time, it's just a pain. I'll take care of them all at once. No arguments!"

Bonnie fired off another text, telling her people to team up with Caleb's to wipe out these leftovers.

"Thanks, Aunt Bonnie."

"Abella, no need for thanks, we're family," Bonnie said, giving her a loving pat on the head.

In the living room, Vanessa took a gift from Aimee and handed it to Lola with a smile. "I heard from your grandpa that you snagged first place in the piano competition. This is your reward."

"And me, I got something too!" David said, quickly telling the servants to bring it over.

Lola opened Vanessa's gift to find a swanky diamond bracelet. David's gift was a platinum diamond pendant.

These two pieces together had to be worth at least two hundred grand!

She was stoked. "Thanks, Grandma and Grandpa! I knew you guys loved me the most!"

Bonnie, seeing this, jumped into the convo with an excited and happy voice. "Mom."

Vanessa looked up to see Bonnie!

She'd heard Bonnie had taken a nasty fall off a cliff and cried for a whole month, dropping six pounds. She even prayed to God for Bonnie's safety.

God must've been listening, 'cause here was Bonnie, standing right in front of her.

Seeing Bonnie looking even more stunning and glowing than before, Vanessa ran towards her.

Vanessa's eyes filled with tears.

"Mom," Bonnie, dropping her tough act from the basement, leaped into Vanessa's arms like a little kid, saying happily, "Mom, I missed you so much!"

Her voice was all childlike, and Vanessa adored her like this, treating her like her own daughter.

"I missed you too. Seeing you safe and sound in front of me makes me so happy. It's so good to have you back, and it's so good that you're okay."

"Mom, I'm sorry for making you worry," Bonnie said, wiping Vanessa's tears. "I couldn't let anyone know I was alive while I was digging into Uncle Ulysses and Uncle Dreck, afraid it would tip them off. Don't worry, I was fine with Alexis, and he didn't try anything on me."

It wasn't like the rumors going around that said she’d lost her virtue.

"Bonnie, what are you talking about! As long as you're alive, even if you were hurt, the Harris family would still want you!"

Realizing she’d put her foot in her mouth, Vanessa quickly added, "I mean, as long as you're alive, no matter what, you'll always be a Harris. The Harris family will never turn their back on you."

"Thanks, Mom," Bonnie said, feeling all warm and fuzzy, snuggling into her embrace.

Abella noticed the huge shift in Bonnie's vibe, finding her super cute in this clingy mode.

But Lola was kinda miffed. Her special moment with her grandparents got hijacked by Bonnie, leaving her in the dust.

"If it weren't for you, we wouldn't have known that Dreck and those backstabbing relatives were pulling such dirty tricks behind our backs!" Vanessa was fuming when she heard about it. Thankfully, Abella had left some meds with Aimee before taking off, or she might've blown a gasket.

"It's all thanks to Abella. If she hadn't been with me that night, I wouldn't have made it on my own." Bonnie gave a quick rundown of that night. Vanessa was blown away hearing that Abella could hack phones, disable surveillance without getting caught, knock out bodyguards, and even had mad medical skills, stopping them from getting drugged.

"Yeah, if it weren't for Abella, we wouldn't have known that all our past mishaps were set up by those jerks!" David chimed in.

He’d kept quiet about it earlier, worried Vanessa might pass out from rage.

Before, during their trips, they always ran into all sorts of "accidents," which turned out to be deliberate!

"Abella told me my bad health was partly due to my illness and partly 'cause those bastards were secretly drugging me. Otherwise, with my strong health back then, I wouldn't have gone down so easily." David was fuming just talking about it!

"Even Caleb couldn't figure it out, but you managed to track down the evidence," Vanessa said in disbelief, giving Abella a loving pat on the head. "You never stop surprising me. You're amazing!"

Seeing the mood was just right, Bonnie said, "Mom, you mentioned earlier that Lola won first place in the piano competition, and I saw you and Dad rewarding her from afar?"

"Yeah." Vanessa remembered Lola and quickly waved her over. "She won first place in a national piano competition."

Bonnie smiled. "What did Dad and Mom reward her with?"

Lola, happy the spotlight was back on her, sweetly told Bonnie about her gifts, talking animatedly, clearly trying to show off in front of Abella.

"That's not fair, Dad and Mom. Abella's status is way higher than the competition judges. Can you guess who she is?"

Lola's face went pale. She never expected Bonnie to ask for a reward for Abella!

"Higher than the competition judges?" Vanessa and David were shocked and guessed a few times but couldn't figure it out.
