Chapter 490 Waiting for the Wedding

On the ranch, Phillipe's men formed a straight line, vowing to protect the people inside the house at all costs.

Dozens of men in black swiftly charged at them, moving as fast as lightning.

Some of the men in black found gaps and directly reached the door. Winston alone held them off, not allowing them to step inside.

"What should we do? Will Winston be in danger?" Diana asked.

Diana peeked from the window, worried, yet once again feeling that Winston was genuinely good to them, risking his life to protect them time and again.

Just because of Winston's character, she silently vowed that if they could successfully find Nicole, she would completely support this marriage.

"We're causing them trouble again." Patricia was also worried. The battle outside was fierce, and Winston's arm had been slashed deeply, blood gushing out instantly.

"Winston..." Diana's heart ached. Losing so much blood, Winston must have been in terrible pain!

But Winston didn't stop. Two men in black tried to break in while he was injured, but he blocked them again.

The situation looked dire.

Just then, a sound descended from the sky.

Diana and Patricia simultaneously noticed that it was a plane, and their rescue plane had arrived!

Some men in black fired at the plane, but it landed smoothly without any hindrance.

The cattle were startled by the noise and ran in all directions.

"We have to take Winston and Abella with us," Diana said, remembering that Abella hadn't returned yet. She quickly took out her phone, her hands trembling, found the number she had saved earlier, and dialed.

"Mrs. Burne." Abella's voice quickly came from the other end of the phone.

For some reason, Diana suddenly burst into tears. Hearing Abella's voice, all her worries, anxiety, and fear were reduced at that moment.

Maybe it was because the girl was usually so reliable that just hearing her voice brought some comfort.

"Abella, come back quickly; the plane is here." Diana's voice was still choked with sobs. "The situation has changed; we all need to leave together, hurry."

"I'm almost there," Abella seemed to sense her fear and softly reassured her, "Don't be afraid."

Though it was just several words, Diana broke down in tears again. "Okay, be careful on your way back. This place is surrounded. When you get here, get on the plane first. Don't foolishly rush over to save us; remember that."

"Is Winston okay?" Abella asked softly.

At the mention of Winston, Diana looked out again. he had been slashed on the arm by another man in black and seemed to be struggling.

Phillipe's men were skilled, but they were outnumbered, and some had already fallen.

Diana choked up even more. "He's... he's hurt."

"Don't be afraid, I'll be there soon." Abella had already floored the gas pedal. Although this wasn't the case in the States, Phillipe's people would surely handle minor issues like speeding.

After a while, Winston finally managed to take down seven or eight men in black outside. Panting heavily, he opened the door. "Quick, I'll cover you to the plane."

Seeing the bloodied figure in front of her, Diana's tears burst forth. "Winston, don't worry about us; you go first."

The men in black outside kept coming in waves, making it impossible to hold them off.

Chances were, they wouldn't make it to the plane.

"Come with me." Winston didn't have time to explain. He grabbed each of them by the arm, and just as they stepped out, a knife slashed down. He kicked the knife-wielding man in black away and pulled them towards the plane.

His arms and body were covered in blood, and his clothes were stained red.

Diana cried, and Patricia felt equally terrible. If it weren't for Nicole, this young man wouldn't be risking his life to protect them.

He truly loved Nicole deeply and thus extended that love to her parents.

Phillipe's men were severely injured. Seeing Winston trying to escort the two elders to the plane, they painfully got up from the ground, fighting with all their might to protect them.

Diana looked at the carnage and couldn't understand what kind of people Nicole had provoked. It looked terrifying.

There was still some distance to the plane. Phillipe's men were already injured, and now, one by one, they were falling. Soon, a dozen men in black surged toward Winston.

One of them pulled out a knife and swung it at Diana.

They didn't want to kill the three of them, but they wanted to prevent them from escaping so they could take them back.

Seeing someone about to harm Diana, Winston immediately pulled her to his side. On the other side, a knife slashed his shoulder, causing him to gasp in pain.

"Winston..." Diana was terrified. Winston was clearly in a lot of pain but was still holding on.

Patricia saw another man in black swinging at Winston and used all his strength to push him away. He didn't notice the situation behind him and was kicked to the ground.

"Patricia..." Diana wanted to help him, but more men in black were attacking. Diana closed her eyes in fear.

Winston pulled Diana away, dodging several falling knives. He kicked away the man in black who was about to slash Patricia, pulled Patricia up, and pushed both of them behind him, shouting, "Run!"

He stayed behind to cover them. Seeing the twenty or so men in black in front of him, Winston knew he might die there.

Luckily, Abella hadn't returned yet, or he would feel guilty for life.

He wondered what delicious food Abella would bring him. Would he even have a chance to taste it?

Diana's feet wouldn't move. Winston was clearly no match for these men in black, and he was injured, blood dripping onto the grass, looking like a tragic hero.

"Go—" Patricia knew that staying would only cause trouble for Winston. She pulled Diana, urging, "Winston will find a way. He loves Nicole; he'll find a way to survive."

"Winston..." Diana cried out in pain, her vision blurred with tears. "You have to protect yourself. I'm waiting to attend your wedding... you have to live!"

Hearing this, Winston suddenly smiled a handsome and charming smile.

Did this mean he had earned Nicole's parents' approval?

If so, he could die without regrets today.

"Go—" Patricia pulled Diana and started running.

Diana looked back, seeing a dozen men in black attacking Winston. One of them slashed his back with a gleaming knife, leaving a bloody gash.

In the moment Winston was injured and in pain, more fists, knives, and sticks rained down on him.

"Winston—" Diana felt she couldn't leave. She didn't want Winston to trade his life for theirs; she wouldn't be able to live with herself for the rest of her life.
