Chapter 888 Phillipe Discovered
Phillipe nodded, "Sean and I, along with a few other friends, grew up together."
As they got older, each of them started their own businesses and took over their family enterprises, which meant they were often traveling around the world and rarely had time to get together.
"What did he help you with?" Phillipe always thought Sean wasn't the type to meddle in others' affairs or be particularly helpful.
Yesterday in the presidential suite, he didn't ask too many questions. He only knew that Abella was meeting someone today for coffee, but he didn't know who it was or what they had done for her.
"I ran into some trouble, and twice he stood up for me," Abella said simply.
"I'm usually the most helpful person around. My favorite thing to do is to help out when I see someone in need. Anyway, I'm going to get a coffee, I'm a bit thirsty." Sean chimed in.
"You still have half a cup of iced coffee left," Phillipe noticed that Sean seemed distracted and a bit off.
Sean smiled, "It's too cold, I'll get a hot one."
As he was about to leave, Phillipe said, "I have hot coffee here."
There were several cups of coffee on his tray, all ordered for Abella to try.
"Those are for your fiancée. I'll get my own. You guys go ahead and drink." Sean practically fled.
Maybe he couldn't believe that the girl he had liked for so long was Phillipe's fiancée. His heart was shattered, and the cruel reality hit him like icy rain on his face.
Abella's suspicious gaze fell on Phillipe, as if asking, "What's up with your friend? Is he in a bad mood?"
"Don't mind him." Phillipe placed the remaining cups of coffee in front of Abella. "These are the latest offerings from the café. Try them and see which one you like best."
There were also some delicate, small desserts laid out for Abella to choose from.
"They said these desserts are the most popular, their best sellers." Phillipe picked up a small spoon and fed her a bite. "How does it taste?"
"A bit sweet."
"Try this one." Phillipe scooped another piece of cake and fed it to her.
Sean, who had just finished ordering, saw this scene and felt an even stronger urge to cry.
He was already devastated, but reality wasn't done with him yet, delivering a final, fatal blow.
He had lost her!
The girl who was so caring, who would rescue a child trapped in a cage, who was skilled and had amazing driving skills, was not only Phillipe's fiancée but also deeply in love with him.
He hadn't even had a chance to pursue her, and he had already lost her completely.
In his twenty-two years, he had finally met such a special girl.
He had thought that even if she had a boyfriend, he was confident he could win her over.
After ordering his coffee, he didn't know how he managed to walk back to them, sitting across from them, watching their sweet interaction.
After a few sips of coffee, he found it tasteless and stood up again, "I'll go check if Terry has arrived."
Abella glanced at Phillipe again, and this time, Phillipe finally said, "I'll go check."
He got up and walked towards Sean, who was still lost in a mix of emotions. "What's wrong?"
As Phillipe approached, he noticed the sadness and disappointment in Sean's expression that he hadn't managed to hide.
Suddenly, Sean's words came rushing back to Phillipe. Sean had mentioned a girl with a beautiful voice, a nice name, who was pretty and skilled at racing. Could he have been talking about Abella?
Besides Abella, Phillipe hadn't met any other girl in his twenties who was so stunning, and everything Sean had said matched his fiancée. So, the girl Sean liked was Abella? Knowing Abella was his fiancée, Sean's expression had shown shock, and now he couldn't hide his disappointment and sadness.
No wonder Sean had needed to drink half a cup of iced coffee to calm down after learning Abella's identity.
"How long have you been eyeing Abella?" Phillipe suddenly narrowed his eyes and asked.
"What are you talking about?" Sean hadn't expected him to figure it out so quickly and hurriedly laughed. "Although Abella is very pretty, unique, and has great driving skills..."
"How do you know she has great driving skills?" Phillipe's eyes took on a dangerous glint. "Have you seen her drive?"
"I happened to go to a race one day. Someone couldn't beat her and tried to stir up trouble, saying her car had issues. I just spoke up for her..."
"So, you fell for her at first sight?" Phillipe seemed to realize something.
Even he didn't know Abella had participated in a race. She had kept it from him. It must have been dangerous, which was why she hadn't told him.
Thinking this, his gaze shifted through the window to the girl inside. Abella still didn't know what that look meant.
Phillipe thought that he would definitely "punish" her for this.
"What kind of race was it?" Phillipe asked again.
"It wasn't an official race, just an underground one. She was representing the Boeing team."
So, his fiancée was also a professional racer?
"Has she been with the Boeing team for a long time?" Phillipe asked.
"No, she seems to be new. I heard their captain, Saskia, injured her foot, so..."
"Saskia?" Phillipe remembered that night when he called Abella. She said she was visiting a friend who had injured her foot. Later, when he video-called Abella, her friend Saskia had appeared.
So, her friend was the captain of the Boeing team? Because of the foot injury, she couldn't race, so Abella stepped in.
The fact that no other team members raced and Abella did showed her strong skills.
"Was the race dangerous?" Phillipe pressed.
"Not exactly dangerous, but the skill levels were very different. Abella was impressive, winning two races in a row. You should have seen her amazing..." Sean realized he had said too much and quickly shut up.
Phillipe's gaze turned dangerous. "So you fell for her at first sight?"
That night, before he video-called Abella, Sean had indeed called him, saying the girl he liked was great at racing and shared his interests.
So, he was talking about Abella?
"You like Abella? She agreed to have coffee with you today?" Phillipe added.
