Chapter 1085 See the True Face

"The nurse said my mom's only got a couple of hours left. Can you get here in time?" Henry asked, his voice trembling.

"Hand over Lola's phone, and I'll save two lives. Think it over and let me know," Abella replied before abruptly ending the call.

Henry was taken aback. He hadn't expected Abella to demand the phone.

But it made sense. Why would she help him for nothing?

That phone was the only thing he had that might interest her.

After a lot of thinking, Henry was about to go find Lola when his phone rang again, this time from an unknown number.

"You said you'd take care of her. Why haven't you done it yet?" The caller barked angrily.

"My mom and sister's lives are on the line. I just need a little more time," Henry pleaded, trying to stay calm.

"Time's up! By midnight tomorrow, I want her gone. If you don't do it, I'll come for your whole family myself!"

"Hello? Hello?" Henry shouted, but the line was dead. He was furious but knew he couldn't confront the caller now. He didn't want to hurt Abella either; he just needed more time.

Just then, Lola wheeled herself out to find him. Henry immediately crouched down in front of her, his voice desperate, "Lola, there's a way to save my mom and Melanie. Will you help?"

Lola sensed something was off from his tone and expression, but played along. "What way?"

"Abella wants that phone in exchange," Henry said, causing Lola's smile to vanish. She held back her anger and asked, "How does she know about the phone? Did you tell her?"

Henry's silence made Lola anxious. "Henry, that phone is our secret. How could you tell an outsider?"

"The situation is urgent. We give her the phone, and we save my mom and Melanie. Please?" Henry begged.

Lola's expression hardened. "That phone is the only thing my dad left me. Why should I give it to her?"

"Lola, isn't my mom and Melanie's lives more important than a phone? The nurse said my mom won't last two hours, and Melanie's condition isn't good either."

"Henry, that phone is my dad's only legacy. Who knows what Abella will do with it? She's a hacker; even if we delete everything, she can recover it."

"The person she's after is the one who planned the hospital fire. Your dad is gone; she won't come after you."

"Henry, I don't want to," Lola said, moving her wheelchair to leave. "I won't give up that phone, no matter what. If it's something else, I might consider it."

"Lola," Henry held onto the wheelchair, stopping her. "My mom and Melanie are in danger."

"Am I not your family too? You're willing to ignore my feelings for your mom and sister? Just because I don't share the Hall family blood, you choose them over me?"

"Lola, you're not making any sense. How could you think I don't care about you?" Henry said urgently. "You're just as important to me as they are. You're all my family, but this is life and death."

"You never used to force me to do things I didn't want to. What's changed?" Lola looked at him, heartbroken to see his true colors in a crisis.

"Lola, this is about my mom and Melanie's lives. I'm begging you," Henry suddenly knelt in front of her wheelchair, holding her hands and pleading earnestly.

Lola was both sad and angry. "That phone is my dad's legacy. You want to trade my dad's life for your mom and sister's lives? How can you be so heartless and cruel?"

At that moment, a nurse came over with a critical condition notice for Henry to sign.

Henry was out of options. He knelt on the ground, begging Lola.

But Lola shook off his hands, pressed the button on her wheelchair, and left.

The nurse felt uncomfortable watching, and even Briar and Celestia nearby couldn't believe Lola could be so heartless.

Henry had done so much to save Lola before.

Now, he just needed the phone to save two lives.

Though they didn't know what secrets the phone held, Lola's actions were too hurtful to Henry.

Henry stood up, feeling defeated, and looked at the critical condition notice in the nurse's hand. "Can you give me a little more time?"

Perhaps out of sympathy or hope that Henry had a solution, the nurse nodded and didn't push him to sign.

Just then, Cecil came over with an autopsy report. "I got permission from the truck driver's family and had a professional perform an autopsy. This is the most authoritative report. They found undigested drugs in the driver's stomach. These drugs aren't sleeping pills but have stronger effects, causing deep, comfortable sleep and hallucinations."

Cecil handed the report to Henry. "This shows the accident was deliberate!"

"Cecil, I'm really busy right now. I don't have time for this," Henry said, feeling desperate and helpless. He called Abella, telling Cecil, "I need to talk to Abella. My mom is critical. We'll discuss the driver later."

Cecil could only wait quietly.

"Abella," Henry said as soon as she answered, "I need to talk to you."

"Lola won't give up the phone?" Abella guessed.

"Right," Henry said, feeling both helpless and sad. "She won't give it up."

From the past to now, he had never asked her for anything, and she still refused this one thing.

"I knew she wouldn't. I asked you to try so you could see her true nature," Abella said calmly, as if she had expected this all along.
