Chapter 999 Love and Kill

"I was just scratching the surface earlier. If it weren't for Ms. Medici's sharp thinking, I would've been completely fooled by Mrs. Margaret Medici," Toby admitted, genuinely impressed by Abella.

"Aunt Margaret's the key here. You've been with the Medici family for years. Have you ever seen her look nervous?" Abella asked, locking eyes with Toby.

Toby shook his head. Margaret always seemed composed and elegant, no matter the situation.

"So, when Luke dropped that small knife earlier, and she suddenly showed a flash of nervousness, it was just too deliberate," Abella explained. "If Luke were really a problem, she should have stayed calm. But her calmness came a second too late."

"Ms. Medici, you're really smart," Toby said, completely in awe. "So, the truth from back then is about to come to light."

At that moment, Abella's phone buzzed. She glanced at it. "I need to go pick up Phillipe."

"Phillipe's really coming over for dinner?" Blake was surprised. "This guy sure makes himself at home, huh? Abella, you haven't even tried the snacks I brought you."

Quick as a flash, Blake grabbed a piece of the snack and chased after her, feeding it to Abella.

Abella chewed the snack and sipped her tea leisurely as she walked towards the front door.

Suddenly, she felt two pairs of eyes on her back. Her intuition told her they were watching from the main house's floor-to-ceiling windows.

She smiled slightly and continued towards the door without pausing.

Phillipe was already there.

Today, he wore a black coat that made him look even taller and more handsome, his freshly cut hair enhancing his features.

When he saw Abella, his whole demeanor softened, and his smile was warm and gentle, like a breath of fresh air.

The guard pressed the button to open the gate, and Phillipe stepped in, gently hugging Abella, his eyes full of happiness. "Grandpa and Grandma want me to bring you over after dinner here. They want to have a meal with you. I told them you might be too full, but they said you could just come for the company. They really want to see you."

Phillipe looked into her eyes and said softly, "They've been talking about you so much these past few days, my ears are practically ringing."

Abella smiled. "Is it them who want me to come over, or you?"

"Of course, I want you to come too," Phillipe said, lovingly brushing a strand of her hair. "If you come, this will be the happiest, most fulfilling Christmas I've ever had."

"They'll be hurt if they hear you say that. Before I came along, they were the ones spending Christmas with you." Abella said.

"If you come, they'll also feel it's the happiest, most fulfilling Christmas. You're very important to us. We've already considered you part of the family." Phillipe noticed the tea in her hand. "What are you drinking? Let me hold it."

He took the tea with one hand and held her hand with the other, their fingers interlocked, as they walked towards the main house.

"Steven said the chef just made this tea. You should try it."

Phillipe took a sip. "It's good."

'So, girls like this kind of thing?' Phillipe wondered, making a mental note to ask the chef for the recipe later.

When Abella married him, if she ever felt homesick, he could make her a cup or bring her back home.

"Your family's blessing ceremony ended so quickly?" Abella asked casually.

"Yeah, Grandpa and Grandma were eager to cook for you tonight. My parents didn't want to be outdone either. When I left, the four of them were still fighting over the kitchen. The chef was at his wits' end, unable to intervene but also unable to watch them turn the kitchen into a mess," Phillipe said with a light laugh. "They know you like seafood, so tonight's family dinner is all about seafood."

"That's so thoughtful," Abella said with a smile. "Our family dinner here should end around six or seven. After we finish, we can head over to your place."

"Grandpa and Grandma will be thrilled to hear that," Phillipe said, taking out his phone. "I'll let them know to make less food, so you don't get too full. Otherwise, they might not let you come next year."

Ryan and the others weren't sure if Abella would come, but they still fought to cook, hoping she might try their dishes.

If they knew for sure she was coming, they'd be overjoyed, eagerly awaiting her arrival.

"You really are coming over for dinner?" Blake said, a bit jealous as he saw Phillipe holding Abella's hand. "Can you two be a bit more discreet? What about Abella's reputation?"

"Who told you to stay single?" Phillipe said, though he let go of Abella's hand, only to wrap his arm around her waist, making them look even closer.

"Don't think just because Abella's backing you, you can do whatever you want in front of me. You need my approval first! Otherwise, don't even think about stepping through that door!"

"Looks like I need to work hard to earn your approval," Phillipe said with a playful smile. "But since Abella chose me, as her brother, you won't always stand in our way, right?"

"Get lost," Blake said, pulling Phillipe away from Abella. "If you weren't my longtime friend, I wouldn't let Abella be with you."

"So, I do hold some weight in your heart."

"Stop with the sweet talk," Blake said, unable to help but laugh. "It's new seeing you try to please me."

He had always thought it was a dream to get Phillipe to show some respect.

Since Abella came into the picture, this guy had changed quickly.

"Since we're dating, I'm family now," Phillipe joked. "This respect will last forever, until you die."

"Shut up, don't say such unlucky things! I'm not dead yet! Whether you become family depends on your future performance! I've been dancing so much for my concerts, my whole body aches," Blake said, pretending to move his shoulder.

Phillipe understood. "Abella, Blake wants me to give him a massage. Wait for me."

"No, I didn't say that!" Blake was surprised at Phillipe's cunning, using Abella to get to him.

"It's just that I can't have physical contact with others, even if it's a guy," Phillipe said, feigning helplessness.

"Abella, he's bullying me!"

Abella couldn't help but laugh. "Have you two never gotten along? Always this love-hate relationship?"
