Chapter 913 Hit Her
Bonnie saw what was happening and, in a fit of rage, hurled the teacup in her hand at Lola's face.
The teacup had been sitting on the small oval table next to the sofa, not the same table Beckett had overturned earlier.
The cup hit Lola's face, and the warm tea stung the wound on her chin, splashing all over her, making her look utterly disheveled.
But at that moment, she was already in a state of shock.
Bonnie stood up and walked over to her, slapping her several times. "How dare you treat Abella like this?"
Lola was terrified. "Aunt Bonnie..."
Bonnie kicked her hard, not wanting to hear her say any words.
Lola fell backward onto the glass shards. Even though her winter clothes were thick, her hands were cut and bleeding, trembling from the pain.
The video continued to play.
Everyone realized there was more to the fire from years ago.
It wasn't Maria who had orchestrated it; she had merely taken advantage of the situation. When she saw Lola being taken to the Medici family, she found a way to work there.
As for who was behind the fire, it was someone else entirely!
Maria knew who it was but refused to say, only mentioning that the person was very powerful.
Who was it? Who wanted to harm Abella? Who wanted them dead?
When Maria was about to disfigure Abella, Lola not only didn't plead for her but demanded that Abella beg her, kneel, and admit that returning to this family was a mistake.
Kimberly, seething with anger, picked up a nearby ottoman and threw it at Lola.
Lola was scared out of her wits; it was the first time she had seen Kimberly so furious!
The video ended there, but there were two more messages in the chat box, sent by Abella using Phillipe's phone.
Abella: [Dad, my phone is broken. I'm using Phillipe's phone to let you know I'm safe. I'm with him now, unharmed, so don't worry about me.]
Abella: [Jacob and Maria are Lola's biological parents. The next few pages are their DNA test results. Don't let Jacob escape; he's likely part of the Umbra League and involved in all of this.]
Beckett, upon seeing this, immediately ordered, "Someone, go and bring Jacob to me!"
Everyone quickly obeyed.
"Hold on," Caleb said, standing up. "If he's part of the Umbra League, regular bodyguards won't be able to catch him. I'll go."
Bonnie glanced at him and reminded, "Be careful."
Caleb nodded and walked past Lola without even looking at her, as if she were a stranger.
Kimberly, tears streaming down her face in anger, approached Lola, gritting her teeth. "So your biological parents are still alive..."
"I... I didn't know they were my biological parents..." Lola was shocked and terrified, tears streaming down her face. "I just found out..."
Moreover, Maria was already dead, having fallen from the eighteenth floor today.
Kimberly, in a fit of rage, said, "Maria brought so many people to kidnap Abella, pulled her hair, whipped her, slapped her twice. Today, I'm going to get justice for Abella."
"Mom..." Lola was already scared out of her mind.
Before Lola could plead, Kimberly raised her hand and slapped her several times.
Lola's face swelled, and her mouth bled. At that moment, Lauren approached with a rolling pin. "Mrs. Medici, we don't have a whip at home, so this will have to do."
The rolling pin, usually used by the chef for dough, was now put to a different use.
Lola was both angry and anxious, never expecting Lauren to kick her when she was down, even going to the kitchen to fetch a rolling pin.
The rolling pin was solid wood, as if they wanted to beat her to death.
Kimberly, unable to find a suitable object, now had the rolling pin and used it with all her strength.
Lola instinctively raised her hands to block, but the solid wood rolling pin hit her hands, causing her to wince in pain.
"You watched Abella being kidnapped, threatened, and humiliated, and not only did you not say a word in her defense, but you also warned Maria, afraid Abella had a listening device or camera on her." Kimberly hit her again and again. "You ungrateful bitch."
Lola fell onto the glass shards, her hands cut again, trembling in pain, nearly fainting.
"Did you think that without Abella, you could take her place? That without Abella, you could go back to your carefree life, and your engagement to Phillipe would continue?"
"I... I didn't think that..." Before Lola could finish, Kimberly raised the rolling pin again and hit her hard. "You still won't admit your thoughts."
The rolling pin landed on her shoulder, causing half her body to go limp. The intense pain made her gasp, realizing she couldn't struggle pointlessly anymore.
Kimberly, burning with anger, said, "If Abella hadn't been capable, Maria would have disfigured her, cut off her hands and feet, and pushed her off the building. Maria even said she would grind her flesh and flush it down the drain. It's insane, outrageous!"
Perhaps too angry and too disappointed in Lola, Kimberly's tears flowed in a mix of rage and sorrow.
How could she have raised someone like this?
For eighteen years, she had been blind, treating Lola as her own daughter.
Lola was truly terrified, tears streaming down her face, crawling over the glass shards to grab Kimberly's pant leg, begging. "Mom, I was wrong, I was really wrong. I was momentarily possessed. I don't dare ask for your forgiveness; just don't hurt yourself over someone like me."
Kimberly's anger didn't lessen with Lola's pleas. "Stop putting on this fake act in front of me."
Lola cried miserably, "Mom, I really know I was wrong..."
Kimberly, disheartened, looked at her with disgust. "When you were video chatting with Maria, you saw all her men and weren't surprised at all. This means you knew long ago she was part of the Umbra League, but you kept it from us, committing crimes with her. Tell me, what were she and Jacob planning, lurking in the Medici family for so many years?"
Kimberly didn't believe they were just there for Lola.
There had to be another motive...
Over the past eighteen years, the Medici family had gone through many things, likely brought on by them.
