Chapter 949 Using Abella as a Shield

In the picture, a boy was pushing a little girl with pigtails on a swing.

The little girl on the swing was laughing joyfully.

The weather in the picture was bright and sunny, the sun was smiling, the flowers were smiling, and even the people had happy smiles on their faces.

There's a phrase written on the picture: "A Happy Day."

This was a drawing Lola made for him when she was in kindergarten. She also made different drawings for others, which they treasured like precious gems. Those were such simple and beautiful times.

Along with this picture, there were many other items stored in the cabinet.

There was a Christmas envelope she made from A4 paper, which, when opened, contained her drawings of dollar bills, clothes, and Christmas greetings.

Besides that, there were letters Lola wrote to him, handmade birthday cards.

The first suit and shirt she bought for him when he started working at the company.

Everything was preserved perfectly by him.

But now, as he looked at each item and the memories it brought, he finally threw them into the trash can.

Meanwhile, Dennis had the servants wash and dry the clothes Abella gave him as quickly as possible. After taking a shower, he immediately put them on.

He looked at himself in the mirror from different angles, feeling that Abella's design was incredibly stylish, much better than anything he had worn before.

He took out his phone, struck a pose, and was about to send the photo to Abella when he heard a knock on the door.

"Who is it?" Dennis asked.

Who would be knocking at his door so late?

The person outside didn't respond but knocked again, slowly and deliberately.

Dennis sent the photo to Abella, praising her design talent while opening the door. To his surprise, a fist came flying at him.

Quickly, Dennis caught the fist, exclaiming in surprise, "Steven? When did you get back?"

Steven's face was stern, his tone icy, "I'm here to settle the score for bullying Abella."

No matter how arrogant Dennis had been, he always behaved better in front of Steven.

"Steven, it's all a misunderstanding. Abella treats me really well! Look, the clothes I'm wearing are a gift from Abella!"

Steven glanced at him and saw it was indeed the "trophy" Dennis had bragged about earlier.

"Don't think that making Abella happy will erase the past." Steven still wanted to hit him.

Dennis quickly grabbed his fist and said, "Steven, you're here at the right time. Help me see how this set of pajamas looks?"

Steven gave him a disdainful look and bluntly commented, "On you, it's a waste."

"What are you talking about! Don't you think Abella's design looks like it was made just for me? It looks great, right?" Dennis said with a mischievous smile, "You haven't received such a gift, have you?"

Steven's gaze grew colder.

"No worries, I'll put in a good word for you with Abella next time, and she'll send you a couple of sets too. I have Abella's WhatsApp now!"

"You're a grown man, and you're still asking Abella for things?" Steven said coldly.

"This is Abella's kindness. Besides, I'll give her a card to use freely in the future."

"You really didn't bully her?" Steven's eyes were filled with doubt and distrust.

If he didn't bully her, why did Blake say he upset Abella?

"It's just a misunderstanding. Anyway, we're good now. The surgery on me was done by her. If you hurt me, I'll see how you explain it to Abella!" Dennis used Abella as a shield.

Steven heard this, "You're injured? When did this happen?"

"Just a while ago." Dennis didn't elaborate, but with a sly smile, he said, "Abella stitched the wound. She told me to take good care of it, so if you want to hit me, at least wait until it heals."

Steven released his fist, "I'll ask Abella tomorrow. If you really bullied her, I won't mind adding a few more wounds to you."

"Steven? You're leaving already? You haven't told me if these pajamas look good on me. Do you have time? I have a few more sets I can try on for you."

Steven turned back, exuding a chilling aura.

"Good night." Dennis quickly closed the door.

Steven walked to his room, took out his phone, and dialed a number. "Come over tomorrow."

Early the next morning.

When Abella woke up, she found Lola's old room being repainted, and even the flowers in the garden had been replaced.

As she went downstairs, she saw two servants carrying a large box into the house, with a lamp shape printed on it.

Seeing them heading towards her parents' bedroom, Abella asked softly, "Did Mom and Dad's lamp break?"

"No, it didn't break. Lola and Mrs. Medici went to a lighting store before and found a lamp they thought was beautiful, so Mrs. Medici bought it and put it in her bedroom. Last night, Mrs. Medici didn't want to see that lamp anymore, so she had us take it down. Now the new lamp has arrived, and we're going to replace it for Mrs. Medici."

Abella understood and nodded, "You go ahead."

"Yes, Ms. Medici."

"Abella." At this moment, a gentle voice came from behind.

Abella turned around and saw that Steven had returned. "Steven, when did you get here?"

"Last night." Steven came up to her, looking at her tenderly, "I didn't want to wake you, so I didn't come to you right away. I watched the surveillance from the abandoned building. You've been through a lot these past six months."

He gently touched Abella's head, his eyes filled with concern, "I didn't protect you well. Let's have breakfast first, then I have something to tell you."

Abella nodded and went to the kitchen with him.

"Did Dennis bully you?" Steven served her some porridge and placed it in front of her, "If he did, don't hide it from me. I'll stand up for you."

"My situation with Dennis. It's a long story." Abella smiled lightly and briefly explained the events.

But she didn't mention Dennis threatening to kill her.

"So you and Dennis got to know each other through a bit of conflict?" To Steven, it sounded like they both happened to be investigating the hospital fire, ran into each other while tracking clues, had some misunderstandings, and Abella had a bad impression of Dennis because he kept raising the price of the island she wanted to buy.
