Chapter 792 Dare to Compete

Man, everyone was buzzing; it had to be Stringless!

Only Stringless could pack that much emotion into a tune.

Only she could nail the rhythm and power like that.

Only she could capture the grand and majestic vibe of the piece.

Stringless was in the house!

For real, she was here!

All eyes were on the stage. Even though it was pitch black, the sweet, captivating music hit everyone right in the feels.

Some folks felt a lump in their throats, eyes getting all misty.

They'd been loving this piece for years, and now, they finally got to hear it live!

The kicker was, the rich and delicate emotions in the music brought back a flood of memories, both happy and sad.

Clarence shut his eyes, soaking in the beauty and impact of the music.

He usually didn't get to hear a duet.

And neither did the guests.

When the piece wrapped up, everyone was still lost in the magic of the music. After a beat, the room exploded with applause.

The intense mix of joy and sorrow was nailed perfectly by the two performers.

Their skill, vision, pitch, technique, all of it was on full display in this piece.

"That was insane!"

"Totally worth it today."

"I remembered the days at my grandparents' house when I was a kid. They're long gone, but their lessons still stick with me."

"This is hands down the best piece I've ever heard. It makes me relive every happy and sad moment in my life."

"Same here, I think of my mom. She passed away years ago."

Tears were flowing, everyone was moved by the music.

Just then, the lights came on, and Clifford had already stepped off the stage.

A lot of people didn't see Stringless and started asking, "Mr. Edward, wasn't Stringless here?"

"I swear I heard her playing. Did I imagine it?"

"No way, Stringless was definitely in on it. I've been listening to this piece for years. I can tell the difference between the duet and solo versions. Stringless was definitely playing! I'm sure of it!"

Only the two of them together could make such beautiful music.

One person alone couldn't pack in that much emotion.

Clifford spotted Abella in the crowd and grinned, "She was here."

"Then where is she?"

"Can we get an interview with her?"

"We've got a few questions for her."

Seeing the crowd gather around, Clifford smiled, "I know everyone wants to meet her. She'll be bringing a birthday cake to Clarence soon, and then you'll all see her."

Everyone was buzzing with excitement. To play such beautiful and moving music, Stringless had to be a kind old gentleman like Clifford.

"Mr. Edward, the piece you and Stringless played was amazing. I'm still not over it."

"Absolutely unforgettable."

"With your connection to Stringless, do you know if she's taking on students?"

"Yeah, Mr. Edward, if you have someone in mind, we can only hope Stringless might consider it."

Clifford chuckled, "Honestly, it doesn't matter who you learn from. If you want to learn and have a good teacher, if you've got talent, you'll shine eventually."

When Elsa heard that duet, she knew Stringless had to be here. Even with all the lights off, she fumbled her way to the front of the stage. By the faint moonlight outside, she could just make out Clifford standing there alone.

No Stringless in sight!

'So where is she?' With that question nagging at her, she perked up her ears and followed the music into the crowd.

When the lights flicked on, the closest person to her was Abella!

Abella wasn't holding a violin, but a servant was seen scurrying away from her with one.

No way Abella was Stringless, right? She was already Abbott and Anika, and the Go master KnightStrategist. If she was also Stringless, that'd be way too much.

Elsa strutted up to Abella. With everyone else crowding around Clifford, she took her chance and asked, all smug, "Abella, wanna compete with me?"

Abella, clueless about what Elsa was on about, casually asked, "Compete in what?"

"Aren't you good at the violin? Let's see who can get Stringless to take them as a student."

Abella found it amusing and smiled, "Did Stringless say she wanted students?"

"Doesn't matter. If we can get her to accept us, that's a skill, right? Let's see who wins Stringless' favor first, gets her guidance, and maybe even becomes her student."

Abella looked intrigued. "Aren't you scared Stringless will ask you to play in public and you'll make a fool of yourself?"

"How do you know I haven't improved?" Elsa sneered. "Not everyone stays stuck. So, you in or what?"

Her mom, Margaret, had hired top-notch teachers for her, all to shine in front of Stringless tonight.

She'd been practicing like crazy for this moment!

"And the loser?" Abella asked, not really bothered.

"Must never touch a violin again. Ever. You game?"

"That serious?" Abella didn't seem fazed.

Just then, Clifford popped up behind Abella. "What are you two up to? Something fun? Can I join?"

"Mr. Edward, is Stringless looking for students?" Elsa jumped at the chance to ask.

"I'm not sure. You wanna learn from Stringless?" Clifford looked puzzled. 'Stringless is right in front of you,' he thought.

"Yeah," Elsa said confidently, eyeing Abella. "I wanna know if Stringless will pick her or me."

Clifford added, "Alright, let me judge for Stringless. Each of you play a piece, and the guests can help decide who's more qualified."

Elsa had lost to Abella in a school competition before and had never gotten over it.

To turn the tables, she'd been grinding hard on her techniques.

Her new teachers told her to practice Stringless and Clifford's 'Worldly' if she wanted to impress.

'Cause no one dared to play that piece!

"How about 'Worldly'?" Elsa raised her chin, sure Abella wouldn't have practiced such a tough piece.

She'd been prepping for this, so she figured she had a better shot than Abella.
