Chapter 894 Midnight Oasis
After a while, Theo called, "I found out who shot Cruz. The guy goes by the nickname Viper. He usually hits up Midnight Oasis on Wednesday or Friday nights. Sometimes he carries a bag that's full when he goes in and empty when he comes out. He must be making some kind of deal."
"Check who else shows up at the club when he's there and make a list."
"Got it." Theo finished his report and then added, "Viper didn't go to the club last week, and he wasn't there this Wednesday. Today is Friday. Should we try our luck tonight? We might run into him."
"Alright."
"I'll pick you up at seven."
After hanging up, Abella told Phillipe she had something to do tonight and suggested he hang out with his friends.
"I'll just wait for you at the hotel." He had just seen his friends today and didn't feel like going out again. He preferred to stay at the hotel and be there for her if needed.
As it got closer to seven, Phillipe wanted to ask her where she was going, how many people were helping her, and if the other side had many people. But he was afraid of asking too much and making her unhappy.
Seeing him hesitate several times and frequently check the time, as if reluctant to see her go.
Abella couldn't help but smile. "Don't worry, I'm just catching someone."
With her skills, how could she fail?
"What time will you be back? I'll wait for you." Phillipe touched her face. Even though he knew she was agile, he still worried whenever she went out on a mission.
"If I'm not back by midnight, go to sleep."
"Is the person hard to catch?"
"Not really, but there are many uncertainties. We don't know if he'll show up tonight, if he'll meet with accomplices, or if they'll go somewhere that could lead us to their hideout or even the mastermind. So I might not be back quickly."
Phillipe's eyes darkened, fearing for her safety.
Just then, there was a sudden knock on the door.
"I'll get it," Phillipe offered. "You go change."
She always changed into casual clothes and tied her long hair into a bun before going out on a mission.
When he opened the door, the person outside eagerly called, "Ms. Medici..."
Theo was surprised to see Phillipe, who was still in a white bathrobe, seemingly living there.
Theo's eyes widened, and he looked inside, not seeing Abella.
'What is going on?
They can't have just been...' Theo thought.
"Come in," Phillipe said politely, though his presence was intimidating. Theo felt a bit scared.
Abella had introduced them in a video before, but seeing him in person was different.
Phillipe's aura was really strong.
In the living room, not seeing Abella, Theo couldn't help but say, "Mr. Bourbon, I'm here to see Ms. Medici..."
"She's changing," Phillipe gestured for him to sit. "What would you like to drink?"
"No need..." Theo swallowed hard. He didn't dare let Phillipe serve him tea and quickly said, "I had something on the way here."
"Are you accompanying Abella tonight?" Phillipe still poured him a cup of tea, which he had just brewed.
Theo quickly stood up and took it with both hands, repeatedly thanking him.
This was tea personally poured by Phillipe.
If it weren't for Abella, he wouldn't believe he could receive such treatment.
"Ms. Medici didn't want to alert anyone, so she's only taking me. But don't worry, Mr. Bourbon, I'll protect her with my life."
"Both of you stay safe."
"Yes!" Theo realized he had subconsciously treated Phillipe like Abella, responding so quickly.
Just then, Abella came out dressed, and Phillipe handed her a cup of tea. "It's cold outside. Drink some tea to warm up."
Abella glanced at Theo, who quickly mouthed, "I didn't say anything!"
Seeing her finish the tea, Phillipe added, "If you need help, call me."
"Okay." Abella, not wanting him to wait too long, reminded him again, "If I'm not back by midnight, go to sleep."
"Okay." Phillipe patted her head. "Be safe."
Abella nodded to Theo, who immediately stood up, "Mr. Bourbon, we'll be going now..."
Seeing the worry and reluctance in Phillipe's eyes, Theo added, "Don't worry, I'll take good care of Ms. Medici."
Phillipe nodded and saw them to the door.
In the long hallway, Abella's cool and determined figure caught his eye.
Theo kept looking back, and when he pressed the elevator button, he saw Phillipe still standing at the door, watching them.
"Ms. Medici, do you want to say a few more words to Mr. Bourbon? He seems really reluctant to see you go."
Abella looked up and saw Phillipe wave at her before obediently going back inside.
"Let's catch the guy first." Abella took the elevator down and got into the car. Remembering Phillipe's worried and hesitant look all day, she took out her phone and sent him a WhatsApp message: [Don't worry.]
Abella was as concise as ever, but at the end, she added a head-patting emoji.
Phillipe, who had been in a low mood, brightened up immediately upon seeing it.
Abella knew he was worried, so she was comforting him.
And she patted his head!
Phillipe was overjoyed and sent her a kissing emoji in return. It was a photo taken during one of their kisses, which Phillipe had turned into an emoji.
Seeing this, Abella's lips curved into a smile.
Theo didn't park the car in Midnight Oasis's open lot but on the street, opening the door for Abella. "Ms. Medici, I parked here so we can take a route without cameras if there's danger. I've already planned the escape route."
Abella noted his efficiency and thought he was worth nurturing.
"Check this out." Theo pulled out a gold card and raised an eyebrow at Abella.
"A Midnight Oasis membership card? Where did you get it?"
"From an old member." Theo had helped Abella with many tasks before, and through various connections, some people saw him as a benefactor. Getting such a card wasn't difficult.
"But it's borrowed. We'll have to return it later." Theo led Abella towards Midnight Oasis.
Outside the club, four male and four female employees stood in two lines, welcoming guests.
As Theo and Abella walked up the steps, the employees exchanged glances, seemingly never having seen these two guests before.
"Welcome to Midnight Oasis."
