Chapter 952 Only Abella Has a Way
At that moment, his phone rang. He glanced at the screen and saw it was Kimberly calling.
"Mrs. Medici," He answered, his voice weary but respectful.
"Henry, the Medici family trusted you, and you did this? Did you never intend for Jacob to make it to us alive?"
"What are you talking about?" Henry's eyes widened with shock and concern. "How did he die? When did he die?"
He was fine when Henry handed him over.
"Don't play dumb with me. Now, I want you to bring Lola back. Alive or dead, I need to see her!"
"Mrs. Medici, there must be some misunderstanding," Henry quickly explained. "When we captured Jacob, we did use a sedative, but it only causes unconsciousness for a few hours. My men just knocked him out when he appeared. We didn't do anything else to him. How did he die? Please, Mrs. Medici, enlighten me."
He had thought that once Jacob was in the Medici family's hands, he might suffer, but at least he would be alive.
But now, just one night later, he was dead.
If Lola woke up and asked about Jacob, how could he explain it to her?
"Are you really not behind this?" Kimberly was clearly skeptical.
"If I had done anything, I swear I will never be with Lola in this life or the next!" He considered this the most severe oath he could make.
Kimberly, hearing his words, began to doubt her initial suspicion. "If it wasn't you, then who?"
Who would want Jacob dead?
"Mrs. Medici, I truly don't know the details. Jacob is Lola's father. I would never harm him behind her back. Please, Mrs. Medici, believe me. I swear on my life and my family's lives that I had nothing to do with this."
Kimberly knew how much he valued his family. But if it wasn't him, then who?
Henry heard the call end abruptly. Kimberly had hung up.
He couldn't understand how Jacob had died. How could it have happened so suddenly?
Just then, the doors to the emergency room opened, and several doctors walked out.
Henry quickly put away his phone and rushed forward. "How is she?"
"The patient's wound is severely infected. The bacteria have entered her bloodstream, causing a systemic infection. Her organs are showing signs of failure. Mr. Hall, you need to prepare yourself. She might not..."
"No!" Henry couldn't accept what he was hearing. "You must have a way! Aren't you world-renowned doctors? How can you not save her? Money is no object if you can save her!"
"The patient's bodily functions, metabolism, and tissue structures are all severely damaged. We're truly sorry. We've done everything we can..." The doctors lowered their heads in helplessness and guilt.
"No..." Henry couldn't accept this reality. "She can't die... You have to save her. You must save her!!"
Even though he had considered the worst outcome when he took Lola from the Medici Manor last night.
When it actually happened, he couldn't bear it.
"How can I save her? How can I save her..." Henry was losing control.
"Maybe there's one person who can save her." The lead doctor hesitated before mentioning a name. "Abbott, the one with the Medical Authority title."
"Yeah, her medical skills are legendary. If she steps in, there's no problem she can't solve."
The other doctors chimed in, "I heard Mr. Bourbon was on the brink of death, and it was Abbott who saved him."
"I heard Abbott can even revive people in a vegetative state. She must have a way!"
The doctors had all heard of Abbott's legendary skills, but they didn't know who she was or her connection to Lola.
Henry's eyes dimmed, and he knew Abbott was Abella.
How could she possibly save Lola?
"But Abbott's whereabouts are a mystery. No one knows where she is... whether she's alive or dead..."
"Yeah, information about her is scarce..."
"The patient doesn't have much time, Mr. Hall. You should spend as much time with her as you can."
"I heard Mr. Bourbon was saved mainly because Abbott happened to pass by his hospital room."
Phillipe was incredibly lucky. Otherwise, finding Abbott would be like searching for a needle in a haystack.
The doctors finished speaking, bowed, and left helplessly.
Henry watched as the nurses wheeled out a stretcher with Lola on it. She looked frail and barely alive.
Seeing his beloved Lola being taken to the ICU, Henry's hands trembled as he opened the phone Jacob had left with him before being captured.
This phone was Jacob's personal one. After Henry captured him, Jacob realized he had fallen into a trap but didn't blame Henry. He only asked Henry to promise two things: to take good care of Lola and ensure her safety and happiness, and to give the phone to Lola when she woke up.
Now, without Lola's permission, he opened Jacob's contacts because Jacob, once the Medici family's butler, had Abella's number.
He entered Abella's number into his phone and quickly dialed it.
Abella didn't answer. At that moment, she was performing an autopsy and had unexpectedly found some clues.
Dennis couldn't find Abella anywhere. He heard that Steven wasn't with her but was instead chatting with their parents in the master bedroom for a long time. Finding it odd, he knocked on the master bedroom door.
Steven was about to leave when he opened the door and saw Dennis.
"Where's Abella?" Dennis asked immediately, glancing inside. "What were you talking about in there for so long?"
"Come with me." Steven led him to a secluded spot and finally revealed Jacob's death.
Dennis's eyes widened. "You mean Abella is performing the autopsy?"
Abella, doing something as gruesome as an autopsy? And without an assistant?
"Her autopsy skills surpass Winston's."
Hearing this, Dennis was stunned. Abella could do everything?
"I'll go check on Abella. Keep this confidential and don't let any information leak."
As Steven walked away, Dennis quickly followed. "Wait for me."
He wanted to see how Abella performed an autopsy.
