Chapter 1079 Coming to Demand Someone

Cecil and Henry both looked relieved, like they'd just dodged a bullet.

Lola seemed calm on the outside, but inside, she was a whirlwind of emotions.

Just then, a nurse came out, pushing a stretcher.

Cecil saw Melanie on the bed and immediately rushed over, bending down to softly call her name, "Melanie, can you hear me? It's Cecil. I'm here."

"The anesthesia hasn't worn off yet. She's still out and can't hear you," The nurse explained. "Family members, please come with me. There are a few things I need to go over with you."

Cecil quickly followed her. "What do you need to tell us?"

"Are you family?" The nurse glanced at him before continuing, "There are some instruments and readings in the ICU that you need to understand. I'll show you how to monitor them so you'll know when to call for help and when it's not necessary."

Cecil followed her into the ICU.

Lola tugged on Henry's hand urgently. "Can we leave now?"

Cecil was terrifying, and she didn't want to stay a second longer.

Henry wanted to stay with Melanie, but knowing the tension between Cecil and Lola, he decided to head back to the sixteenth floor, where his parents were.

He arranged for a VIP ward with the nurse, and after the servants helped Lola bathe, he let her sleep on the bed while he took the folding bed.

Meanwhile, Abella had already captured Scorpion and brought him to the basement of the Long Island Manor.

Since Jacob's incident, security at the manor had been tightened, making it the safest place to keep Scorpion under her watchful eye.

In the basement, Scorpion's hat and mask were removed, revealing a young yet weathered face, cold and indifferent. His eyes were devoid of any human emotion, making him seem heartless.

Abella had noticed the scar on his hand when she captured him at the airport. His appearance matched the descriptions from previous clues, confirming he was the one who had given Isla money to kill her.

"You told Isla you were my enemy and wanted me dead more than she did, but I don't know you. We have no connection," Abella said.

Scorpion's expression remained indifferent, and he didn't say a word.

He seemed to be waiting for death, his lifeless eyes showing no spark.

"Damn it, Ms. Medici is talking to you!" Sam punched him in the stomach, clearly annoyed.

Scorpion winced but made no sound.

"Got a tough guy here, huh?" Sam was about to hit him again.

Abella gave him a look, signaling him to stop.

Just then, a bodyguard hurried in. "Ms. Medici."

He seemed to have something to say.

Abella walked over and listened as he whispered, "Your uncle and aunt are here. It seems they're after Scorpion."

Abella smirked coldly. "They sure have good intel. Sam, keep a close watch here. Don't let anyone take advantage."

"Yes, Ms. Medici."

Abella went to the living room of the Long Island Manor, where George and Margaret were sitting on the couch, chatting and laughing with her parents.

"Abella, you're here?" Margaret's face always carried a kind, matronly smile. She greeted Abella warmly.

"It's late. What brings you here, Uncle George, Aunt Margaret?" Abella sat on a single sofa opposite them, exuding a powerful presence.

Margaret smiled gently. "Recently, several of our companies have had issues, and all evidence points to someone named Scorpion. Tonight, we found out you captured him. Is that true?"

Abella's lips curled slightly. "Your information is accurate. Yes, I have him."

"Could you hand him over to us? We want to know why he did it," Margaret asked in a gentle tone, as if speaking to a child.

"Why," Abella's lips curved, "don't you already know?"

George and Margaret were taken aback, clearly not understanding her implication.

The atmosphere grew tense.

"Abella, I don't understand what you mean," George said with a kind smile.

"I don't understand either. I'm just repeating what Scorpion said," Abella replied with a smile.

George continued to smile. "What did Scorpion tell you?"

"He hasn't said much. You arrived before he could," Abella said lightly. "It seems you care a lot about Scorpion."

"Of course. He's caused chaos in my companies. I need to question him," George said, sounding frustrated.

"Scorpion is involved in my investigation. Once I get the information I need, I'll hand him over," Abella said, standing as if to leave.

"We just want to ask him a few questions. After that, you can do whatever you want with him. Is that okay?" Margaret asked in a negotiating tone.

"No," Abella smiled as she refused. "I know you're anxious, so I'll go interrogate him now and try to hand him over to you as soon as possible."

Margaret opened her mouth but knew it was useless to argue further, so she fell silent.

George watched Abella's departing figure, also falling silent.

"Abella is determined. We can't stop her. Please understand," Beckett said with a smile, offering them water. "She's always been strong-willed."

Kimberly smiled affectionately. "Even if we could stop her, we'd support her fully. She's investigating something urgent. George, Margaret, your companies have suffered losses, but Abella said she'll hand him over once she's done. You can wait a few days."

"Yes, yes," Beckett agreed, smiling. "Scorpion probably targeted your businesses to cause trouble and extort money. It's a minor issue. Abella's investigation is a matter of life and death. Let her handle it first. After all, she caught him. She'll hand him over once she's done."

Margaret smiled. "Abella is impressive for her age."

Kimberly caught the underlying message and smiled. "Yes, thanks to Terrence teaching her self-defense. If not for him, we might not have caught Scorpion tonight. He also cleared up misunderstandings about Abella being involved with gangs."

George and Margaret chatted a bit more until the clock struck eleven-thirty. They then stood to leave.

"We won't keep you up any longer," Margaret said with a smile. "Get some rest."

"Yes, you too," Kimberly said, seeing them to the door.
