Chapter 350 Let Me Smell That
The next morning, all the first-year freshmen headed to the temporary training base built on the back mountain to practice crawling forward.
As soon as Abella arrived at the base, a number of classmates took the initiative to greet her.
"Good morning, Abella."
"Abella, morning"
"Abella, you're here"
Question marks popped into Abella's head. Did she know them?
"Abella, thanks for giving our class a day off yesterday."
"If it weren't for you leading Samuel and the others to capture the flag early, we would have been suffering under the scorching sun yesterday."
"We spent the whole day in the dorm with the air conditioning on, it was so comfortable"
"Thank you for taking care of that annoying Lucine ghost!"
Seven or eight unfamiliar faces surrounded Abella, chattering nonstop, praising her for her good skin, and her pretty appearance. They couldn't have been more enthusiastic.
Instructor Liam blew his whistle, "Attention!"
Everyone immediately stood at attention.
Today's exercise would be crawling forward. Since the field was spacious, it allowed all the first-year freshmen to participate together.
"Let me explain the rules of the competition," Liam said, looking at everyone seriously. "Once the gunshot sounds, you immediately drop down and crawl forward to grab the flag at the finish line. There will be six instructors in the towers looking for targets. Your job is to cover yourselves well without making too much noise. The gun is loaded with paint bullets. Once an instructor spots a moving target, they will open fire. Students hit have to go back to training. In other words, unless you pass today's assessment and grab the flag at the end, you'll have to practice crawling in the bushes all day.”
Upon hearing those words, the students started complaining.
"Other schools just march during military training, but we always have to do these life-draining tasks."
"The heat is skotching, and they want us to lie in half a meter tall bushes, it's simply inhumane."
Liam glanced at Abella, as if asking; “Do you need a sick leave?”
Abella looked back at him speechlessly. “Do I look like I need one?”
“Well, she is a spirited young lady.” Liam thought to himself as he blew his whistle, announcing the start of the competition. The entire Doctor's class, along with other classes, began to dive into the bushes, ready to move forward.
"This grass is so prickly."
"Help, it's so hot."
"So many mosquitoes."
Many folks complained bitterly. Plenty of them got hit by paint bullets and were eliminated from the match.
Abella hadn't crawled far before feeling many people gathering around her.
"Cover me, Abella!"
"Abella, I want to be with you."
"Abella, take me with you!"
“Abella ……”
Those were the ones who had been praising her just now.
An instructor noticed one of the students fanning themselves with their hand and took a shot without hesitation, hitting the mark. Abella was left even more speechless inside.
"Don't make too much noise, just follow my lead like this."
Following Abella’s example, the seven or eight students she led breezed through all the obstacles triumphantly.
At the top of the tower, a figure, full of righteousness, was peering through binoculars, observing the movement in the bushes.
"How’s it going, boss? Do you see your sister?"
"There's a whole thicket out there. How could I possibly spot her? What do I need, titanium eyes?"
"Poor girl training in this scorching heat. People here just don’t understand the meaning of being gentle and cherishing the ladies."
Several of Ethan's subordinates chattered behind him, causing the hand holding the binoculars to tighten suddenly.
He didn’t know which one was his sister. Before coming here, he had asked Blake, but Blake deliberately teased him, saying that the most beautiful one in the entire school was her!
Looking over, all he could see were figures crawling on the ground, indistinguishable from one another.
"Boss, you're too anxious. Why not greet her after she's done resting?"
"Have a sip of tea first. Maybe your sister has been tagged by a paintball and has gone back to retrain."
"What kind of bad luck are you speaking of? The boss's sister isn’t just anyone. Even if everyone got hit, she would be the exception!"
"Cut it out, flattery should at least be realistic," one teased another.
"Look, someone’s grabbed the finish line’s red flag ahead of anyone else!"
A slim and pretty figure had grabbed the red flag at the finish line, apparently a female student.
"Such long legs!"
"Such a slim waist!"
"Such a great figure!"
Ethan glanced back at them. Was this appropriate talk for their status?
Looking again with the binoculars, the girl with the flag had already left with seven or eight students, her appearance unseen. It was said that the first to get the red flag could go to the rest area for water and rest.
Several students surrounded Abella.
"Abella, you're amazing!"
"Following a top scoring student like you, we cut through everything!"
"We really didn’t get hit by the paintball gun, could it be because of the top student’s luck?"
"I've decided, from now on, I'm going to stick close to Abella's long legs!"
Abella suddenly realized Clare was not by her side. Looking back, "Aren't you coming?"
Clare, who thought she had been ignored, was secretly thrilled inside. Abella hadn't forgotten her; even if more people liked Abella and she had new friends, Abella still had a place for her in her heart!
She hurriedly stepped forward and hugged Abella's arm, as if to say; “I’m Abella’s best friend!”
The rest area was a bit distant from the training grounds, surrounded by thickets. Here, each class left their water bottles and backpacks unattended.
Abella twisted open the cute pink bunny water bottle her mother had bought her, intending to take a sip, but suddenly, a strange smell caught her attention.
It was the same with Clare; as she went to drink, she seemed to sense something was off. Glancing over at Abella, who was also looking back at her, they realized at the same moment that there was something wrong with the water!
Who would dare to drug the water? And with a fainting agent, no less?
What was the dastardly purpose behind this? To make them faint in full view of everyone? And then what?
"I'm dying of thirst! Thank goodness I brewed honeysuckle tea today, to cool down a bit.”
Just as Josie was about to drink, Clare abruptly grabbed her wrist, "Wait, let me smell that."
"Huh??"
Smell it? What kind of bewildering behavior was this? Josie didn't think her honeysuckle tea was particularly fragrant. Since Clare was insistent, Josie obediently handed it over, though puzzled in her heart.
"Don't drink, everyone."
As Abella stopped the others, she began to check their water bottles one by one. Besides the four from their dorm, which had tainted water, everyone else's water was clean.
Targeted just at the four of them. Even without much thought, it was clear who was behind this!
After a while, Lucine approached with several girls, all visibly exhausted and panting.
"I never thought Abella and the others would be so far ahead. They didn't discover the water was tampered with, did they?"
"I wonder if they've drunk it yet."
"Lucine, if this gets out, could it be traced back to us.?"
The last girl's words were cut off when Lucine shot her a glare, silencing her immediately.
