Chapter 811 The Treatment Has Worsened
"You should have told us earlier," Kimberly felt guilty and self-reproachful for her hindsight.
"Mrs. Medici, as a servant, how could I dare to discuss your family matters? Besides, back then, Maria was around, and Ms. Lola Medici favored her. If they teamed up against me, I would have been kicked out of the Medici family." Lauren, standing beside them, added, "Moreover, Ms. Lola Medici always left a good impression on you—obedient, sensible, kind, and gentle. If I said she bullied Ms. Abella Medici, you would probably think I was making things up before I even finished speaking."
Lauren continued, "Especially if Ms. Lola Medici cried, I would be in even more trouble! I might even lose my job!"
Kimberly gave her a reproachful look, "You've been dedicated to this family for so many years; how could we easily kick you out? You're not Maria."
Last time, Steven tricked Maria into revealing that she had poured oil to make Abella fall, and Maria was fired by Steven because of it.
When Beckett and Kimberly heard about it, they were furious and scolded Maria severely.
Lola even tried to plead for Maria, but Kimberly said that if she liked Maria so much, she could leave with her.
"I never thought there would be more than just the oil incident. Hearing about all these things makes me so angry. How could she be so malicious? She acted nothing like a servant, more like she thought she was the hostess!" Kimberly slammed the table, too angry to eat.
"Usually, seeing her take such good care of Lola moved us. We never expected she would be so good to Lola but so excessive to everyone else!" Beckett was also very angry.
Meanwhile, Lola had moved to the neighboring building, where she was the only occupant.
Except for the light coming from her bedroom, the entire building was dark.
She found the main switch and turned on all the lights in the building, including the courtyard lights, but the empty, silent environment still made her feel lonely and scared.
Finally, a servant carrying a food box walked into the courtyard, and Lola hurried downstairs.
"Abbie. Why are you alone? Where are the others?" Lola asked.
In the afternoon, three servants had brought her things, so why was Abbie the only one bringing dinner now?
"Mrs. Medici said that from now on, I will be the one delivering your three meals a day. Other than that, no one else will come." Abbie placed the food box on the dining table and took out the dishes one by one.
Lola was already hungry, but when she saw the dishes, she was stunned, "What is this?"
"Mrs. Medici said that since Ms. Lola Medici still needs to reflect, all meals will be kept simple."
Lola couldn't swallow this indignation. They were even cutting back on her food? How could anyone eat this?
"Actually, these dishes are quite tasty. They're the same as what we had for lunch. We had jam sandwiches and baked potatoes. The chef is very skilled, really, you'll know once you try."
"You had this for lunch?" Lola was shocked and suddenly realized, "So what I'm eating are the leftovers from your lunch?"
"Ms. Lola Medici, you're joking. These ingredients are all fresh, and delivered today. They are definitely not leftovers from the servants' lunch. The chef made these dishes just for you." Abbie placed a fork in front of Lola.
Looking at the plain dishes in front of her, Lola, driven by hunger, reluctantly ate them.
"For breakfast tomorrow, I want milk porridge and foie gras toast."
Before Lola could finish, Abbie apologized, "Ms. Lola Medici, from now on, there will be no custom meals."
"What did you say?" Lola couldn't believe her parents' punishment was so severe that she couldn't even have the food she wanted. Would she have to eat these plain dishes and be on the same level as the servants?
Were her parents treating her like a servant? Wasn't this punishment too harsh?
Even if she had said some things to smear Abella at Clarence's birthday party, did she deserve such a severe punishment? Especially since she was still so injured.
"Ms. Lola Medici, if you're done eating, I'll be leaving now." Abbie checked the time and started cleaning up, "I can't stay long; Mrs. Medici only gave me an hour to deliver the meal."
"You're leaving too? So I'll be alone in this building tonight?" Lola was a bit scared; the building was too big and felt eerie at night.
"Yes, from now on, except during meal times, you'll be alone," Abbie said truthfully.
"Who will clean? Who will water the plants? Who will wash and dry my clothes?"
"I don't know." She was only responsible for delivering meals.
"Abbie," Lola grabbed her hand, "Since Maria left, you've been the nicest to me in this house. Tell me honestly, how are my parents feeling now? Do I have any chance of going back in the next few days?"
"Mr. and Mrs. Medici are disappointed and heartbroken by what you did. They barely ate dinner, and Lauren has been trying to console them."
Lola caught the key person and immediately asked, "Lauren? She served my parents' dinner tonight?"
"Yes." Abbie didn't know what had happened and told the truth, "Mr. and Mrs. Medici were in a good mood before dinner, but after dinner, they looked very upset, as if they were very angry."
'It must be Lauren!' Thinking this, Lola clenched her fists in anger!
Lauren must have said a lot of bad things about her to her parents while she wasn't there. Her parents were about to forgive her, but after hearing what Lauren said, they were too angry to eat.
Maybe even Maria was slandered by Lauren.
Thinking this, Lola gritted her teeth in hatred. The first thing she would do when she left this building was to punish Lauren!
"Abbie, can you ask the chef to make me some better dishes tomorrow? I really can't get used to such simple food." Lola shook Abbie's hand, pleading, "I can transfer money to you and the chef, as much as you want."
"Ms. Lola Medici, that's not possible." Abbie quickly explained, "After the chef finishes cooking, Lauren has to check to ensure the ingredients are simple and plain before I can bring them to you. Mrs. Medici said that from now on, you will eat whatever the chef prepares. No more luxurious food."
