Chapter 451 The Most Popular One
Early the next morning, Mrs. Bourbon held Mr. Bourbon's hand as they went to the hospital to visit Carl and Winslow.
"I'm so happy to see both of you awake," Mrs. Bourbon said with an elegant and charming smile. "I heard that Abella saved you. Her medical skills are truly extraordinary. She saved me last time too."
Mrs. Bourbon brought up the previous incident again, where she was framed by her best friend and poisoned with C30.
Winslow couldn't help but feel indignant on her behalf. "Your friend is truly wicked. You treated her like family, yet she harmed you like this."
"Afterwards, she couldn't find a doctor who understood this field to detoxify her, so it was her own fault," Mrs. Bourbon said, her gaze momentarily darkening. She then noticed a painting on the bedside table and couldn't help but ask, "Did Abella paint this?"
"You can tell?" Carl on the hospital bed was somewhat surprised.
"It's in the style of Cordelia Grey. How could I not recognize it?" Mrs. Bourbon picked it up and admired it. She didn't expect that with just a ballpoint pen and an A4 paper, one could paint so beautifully. "Profound artistic conception, impeccable form and spirit. Abella's painting skills are truly amazing."
"She's also a renowned calligrapher," Carl added with a smile.
"I know. This child has countless identities and roles. You both are truly fortunate to have such an outstanding granddaughter," Mrs. Bourbon praised Abella endlessly. "She's beautiful, intelligent, modest, kind, and obedient. Mr. Bourbon and I both adore her."
"Yes, having such a daughter-in-law is a blessing for our family," Mr. Bourbon echoed, equally impressed by Abella. "Rest assured, in the Bourbon family, Abella will never be wronged."
"Phillipe wanted to come today as well, but something came up at the company," Mrs. Bourbon said, raising her gaze to indicate the gifts beside her. "These are all prepared by Phillipe as a token of filial piety for both of you."
"How thoughtful," Winslow knew that Mrs. and Mr. Bourbon only visited them because they were pleased with Abella, and Phillipe prepared these precious gifts because he liked Abella.
Honestly, Winslow was genuinely happy for her granddaughter. However, at the same time, she couldn't help but think of Lola. No matter how hard Lola tried in the past, she never received such favor from the Bourbon family.
In the end, it was because Abella was far superior to Lola. Abella had the blood of the Medici family flowing in her veins, while Lola did not.
Just then, someone knocked on the door.
"Please come in."
"Grandpa, Grandma." Abella pushed the door open and entered the ward. She was a bit surprised to see such a lively scene. "Uncle, Aunt, you're here too?"
"Abella!" The four people in the ward were delighted to see her.
Mrs. Bourbon personally approached Abella, holding her hand and showing concern.
Mr. Bourbon also didn't forget to mention how Abella had been on their minds recently.
Carl eagerly awaited Abella to bring him new artwork, while Winslow chatted with Abella about Carl staying up all night to admire the paintings.
Seeing how popular Abella was, Lola, who followed behind, could only call out, "Grandpa, Grandma, Uncle, Aunt."
Only then did the four people in the ward notice her presence.
"Lola, you're here too? Come in and have a seat."
Lola entered the room.
Seeing Abella sitting in the chair between the two beds, with Mrs. Bourbon holding her hand and Winslow also by her side, everyone chatting and laughing, Lola felt a bit disheartened.
It seemed like she was easily overlooked. As long as Abella was around, she became the most inconspicuous one.
After Winston greeted everyone and patted Lola's shoulder, he said, "Let's go and pour some tea for them."
Since the nurse was not in the ward, Lola could only help by making tea and serving it to each of them.
"So, Mr. Bourbon actually fought for Abella? Good for him!" Carl said excitedly, even waving his hand. "If I had been there, I would have fought too."
"Yeah, they went too far. They deserved it!" Mrs. Bourbon laughed.
Winslow was speechless. She never expected Mr. Bourbon, who was usually calm, to get into a fight for his future daughter-in-law.
"Uncle, Aunt, please have some tea," Lola said as she handed them the tea. "Grandpa, Grandma, here's yours. And Abella, this is for you."
"I'll help you with that." Mrs. Bourbon took a cup of tea for Abella, feeling that it was a bit hot. She placed it on the bedside table and said, "You can have it later. It's still hot."
"Abella, come over and take a look at my phone. Is it broken?" Carl took out a pair of reading glasses from somewhere and put them on. He then turned on his phone, saying, "I added you on WhatsApp last night. Why haven't you accepted it yet? Did I click the wrong person?"
Upon hearing this, Abella couldn't help but smile and took out her own phone. "I haven't accepted it yet."
It was already late last night, and she was afraid that if she accepted it, the elderly would chat endlessly, and she wouldn't get a good night's sleep.
Originally, she had planned to accept it this morning, but she forgot as soon as she got up.
In Lola's eyes, this behavior seemed like Abella was putting on airs, deliberately not accepting Carl's WhatsApp invitation.
"I see. Then please accept it quickly," Carl said as he leaned closer to Abella to see if she had accepted it. "There it is! Is this your profile picture? It's really nice."
Abella's profile picture was a silhouette in black. Specific features couldn't be seen, but her figure indicated that it was indeed Abella.
"I also think Abella has an amazing figure. I've gained weight since I returned home recently!" Mrs. Bourbon touched her face.
"Where have you gained weight? I've been lying down for months, and I've gained weight. Look at my belly. It's nothing compared to mine," Winslow patted her belly.
"In fact, it's easy to lose belly fat. When you can walk again, I'll take you to do yoga!" Mrs. Bourbon said enthusiastically.
"Really? But yoga poses are too difficult. I'm afraid I'll strain my back."
"Don't worry, we'll have a personal trainer. They will teach us the most suitable poses based on our age and physical fitness."
"Then let's make an appointment next time."
"Sure."
After Abella accepted Carl's friend request, he slowly typed, trying to give her a nickname.
"Let me do it," Abella said with a smile as she took his phone.
"Then put your name as Abella."
"Okay."
"Can you pin it? It will be much easier for me to find you that way."
"Sure."
After Abella set the nickname and pinned it, she patiently explained to him.
Lola, who was sitting on the side, felt completely ignored.
She couldn't bear it anymore and pushed open the door to the balcony to get some fresh air.
Winslow also added Abella as a friend, set a nickname, and pinned it.
Mrs. Bourbon smiled and said, "I've already pinned Abella. Look."
