Chapter 668 Pain for Three or Four Days
Beckett snatched up the phone, all frantic. "Wait, what? Ann had a heart attack? Since when did she have heart problems? Did she get checked out? When are the results coming in? Alright, as long as she's okay."
Kimberly grabbed the phone next. "What's Abella up to now? Alright, let's not bug her."
After hanging up, Kimberly felt like jelly. "I can't believe Abella went through something so scary last night and didn't even mention it."
"Abella's always keeping the bad stuff to herself, she's too thoughtful," Beckett chimed in. "Not long ago, a helicopter took off from Plumoria, and the pilot had a heart attack and blacked out. Luckily, a woman on board managed to land it. When I saw that, I wondered how someone with a heart condition could even fly."
"Ann's always been super healthy; she shouldn't have any hidden issues."
Kimberly had seen similar stories on the news. A Slavia Airlines pilot had a heart attack mid-flight but managed to land before passing away.
There was also a Bengaria Airlines flight from Maskatia to Dhaka, where the captain had a heart attack with 124 passengers on board and couldn't be saved.
An Amerionia Airlines pilot had a similar scare.
Kimberly was still rattled. "Thank goodness Abella landed safely and saved Ann."
"Abella's really something else."
Lurking nearby, Lola couldn't believe Abella could even fly a plane. She clenched her fists in anger. 'How does she know all this stuff? How can she do everything?'
"Ms. Medici?" A servant brought breakfast for Beckett and noticed Lola eavesdropping.
Beckett and Kimberly looked over, and Lola snapped out of it. "Morning, Dad, Mom."
"Morning, Lola," Beckett greeted her like usual.
But Kimberly still seemed upset and just gave a faint "morning" without much interest.
Lola felt uneasy. 'Mom's never like this! It must be because of Maria.'
With Abella out of the house for a few days, it was the perfect chance to get closer to her parents!
Remembering how Abella used to massage Kimberly's shoulders, Lola had an idea. "Mom, I'm sorry for last night. You probably didn't sleep well, right? Let me give you a massage."
"No need." Kimberly was still shaken by Abella flying the plane when a pair of small, soft hands gently pressed on her shoulders.
"Mom, is the pressure okay?"
"Go have breakfast."
"Mom, you don't like my massage? I know I'm not as good as Abella, but I'll get better."
Kimberly didn't expect her to overthink. "I'm just telling you to eat first. I'm worried you might be hungry after crying so much last night."
"Mom, you still care about me, right? Last night, I was all mixed up, only thinking about how good Maria's been to me since I was little, and forgot about what she did to Abella," Lola said while massaging. "I'm sorry for being impulsive last night and making things tough for you and Dad."
"Good to hear you're thinking that way."
Lola, all excited, pressed too hard.
"Ouch," Kimberly yelped in pain.
Beckett dropped his fork. "What happened?"
"She hit a nerve or something." Kimberly winced and signaled Lola to stop.
"Is it here? Or here?" Beckett gently touched her shoulder, and Kimberly cried out again.
"How did this happen? Lola, where'd you learn this massage stuff?" Beckett asked, worried.
"I didn't really learn it, I just winged it." Lola panicked. "Mom, did I mess up? I'll call a doctor."
"No need, just go eat. Beckett, call Dr. Aaron." Kimberly, tears in her eyes from the pain, stood up.
Beckett helped her out, dialing Elijah.
Lola, realizing her good intentions backfired, chased after them. "Mom, let me help you. Sit on the sofa; Dr. Aaron will be here soon."
Seeing Lola's concern, Kimberly didn't scold her and even tried to comfort her, "Don't worry, I'm fine."
"You haven't eaten yet," Lola said, feeling guilty. "I'll get you some water."
She rushed to get water but tripped over a stool, spilling it all over Kimberly.
In a flash, Beckett shielded Kimberly, getting soaked and splashing water on her face.
Lola, realizing she messed up again, quickly apologized, "I'm sorry, Dad, Mom, I didn't mean to."
She grabbed some tissues to help Kimberly, but in her haste, Kimberly's shoulder and neck hurt more. "Lola, just go eat. I'll handle this."
"Honey, you okay? Let's get you changed." Beckett gently wiped her face and helped her upstairs.
Lola watched them leave, feeling crushed. 'Why can't I ever impress them? Why does Abella get all the praise?'
She clenched her fists, wanting to go upstairs but scared of more disapproval.
When Elijah arrived, she finally had an excuse to go upstairs and show concern for Kimberly.
During the check-up, Elijah found out Lola's massage caused Kimberly's pain.
He was speechless. "Ms. Lola Medici, Ms. Abella Medici knows medicine and has a specific massage technique. She knows exactly where to press."
Massaging wasn't just about pressing anywhere.
Done wrong, it could cause more than just a little pain.
Lola felt even worse hearing Elijah's words.
But Beckett, ever the dad, said, "Lola meant well, trying to help like Abella, just didn't know the right way. Dr. Aaron, is my wife okay?"
Elijah replied, "Nothing serious, but it'll hurt for three or four days. I'll prescribe an ointment to apply three times a day. The pain should ease up after three days."
"Thanks, Dr. Aaron."
Hearing it would hurt for days, Kimberly felt like crying.
