Chapter 26

To prevent Isla from being mistreated and get rid of Abella as soon as possible, Jeff and Skylar secretly posted Abella's information on a website for finding lost relatives. And Vilma knew nothing about it. Finally, one day, Abella's family called and said they wanted her back.

When Vilma found out about this, she was so shocked that her heart couldn't take it. As a result, she had to be hospitalized.

With Vilma being ill, Abella was successfully 'driven' out of the Wilson family.

"Mom's too old to think clearly. How could she treat that rotten girl better than her own granddaughter?" Skylar complained and couldn't help worrying. "Now I'm afraid that Abella won't leave and will do something bad to us. Will she steal Remy from Isla?"

The Johnson family was way richer than the Wilson family!

Remy was such a gentle and sensible man. And clearly, he cherished Isla and treated her very well.

Skylar felt fortunate that Isla was outstanding in every way. Her beauty and softness enabled her to firmly grasp Remy's heart!

"Jeff, let's go find Dr. Smith. Let him help transfer us to another hospital, okay?" Skylar suggested.

"Well, guess we have no other choice," Mr. Wilson sighed.

"Let's go." Abella followed behind Phillipe with one hand holding her phone, replying to messages.

At this moment, someone pushed a wheelchair out from around the corner and almost bumped into Abella.

Phillipe immediately pulled her over beside him. "Be careful."

Abella reacted belatedly and blushed again.

In the car, seeing that Abella wasn't in a good mood, Phillipe stopped halfway and went into a dessert shop.

Soon, he came out with bags of cakes, bread, milk, juice, and some cute candies.

Then, he handed them to Abella, saying, "They said little girls are into them."

Phillipe thought, 'She saved my grandfather today. She must be hungry after performing surgery.'

Looking at the food, Abella opened her mouth, wanting to say something. But Phillipe approached her again, handing a bottle of milk, and got the straw ready for her.

Abella was stunned by his move.

"I'm not hungry," she said.

"Just try a bite." Phillipe handed over the milk.

Abella took it and had a few sips out of courtesy. It was pure milk, but surprisingly tasted a bit sweet.

In the hospital...

"Dr. Smith, what do you mean by 'can't approve'?" Skylar found Graham. But just after they brought up their request Graham's face turned cold.

"It's best for the patient to stay at NYU Medical Center," Graham replied.

"Aren't there any better hospitals?" Jeff couldn't help asking.

"NYU Medical Center is the best in the country," Graham said firmly.

"Yes. Yes. We all know about it, but..."

Before Jeff could finish his sentence, Skylar interrupted, "Dr. Smith, we have no choice. If we don't transfer her to another hospital, I'm afraid someone will disturb her, and that's not good for her recovery."

Graham looked at Skylar with cold eyes, snorting inwardly, 'Is she referring to Abella? Well! She really doesn't know what's good for her! Does she even know how much Abella has done for her family? And what have they done for her?'

Staring at them coldly, Graham asked, "If you really care about your mom, why didn't you come earlier? I remember the nurse called you at nine this morning."

"It just happens to be a busy day for us." Skylar stuttered.

But in fact, Skylar had an appointment with her friends at the spa, while Jeff went golfing with some CEOs.

At dusk, the maids had prepared dinner early, and the two didn't wanna miss the fine food!

Only after they finished their dinner did they rush over.

"Busy? Your mom almost died today!" Graham snapped.

Being scolded by Graham, Jeff and Skylar felt very embarrassed, and their expressions changed from time to time.

"I can sign the transfer procedures, but I gotta warn you that other hospitals' medical equipment and doctors are far inferior to those in NYU Medical Center. Once your mom leaves here, she'll pass away within a week. You gotta be prepared for this," Graham reminded them.

Jeff's expression changed when he heard this. "Dr. Smith, do you have any better ways to keep my mom's health while she's not in the hospital?"

"I do."

Upon hearing this, Jeff was overjoyed. "What is it? Dr. Smith, please tell me."

Graham answered, "There's a kind of pill on the market that can save your mom's life."

"Yeah?" Jeff quickly took out his notebook and pen.

Graham continued, "But you can only find it in the black market. It costs 1.5 million dollars per pill and needs to be taken twice a month continuously for three months before surgery can be performed."

When Jeff and Skylar heard this, they looked at each other in dismay, shouting with shock and disbelief in their hearts, 'What? 1.5 million per pill? That's 9 million for three months! Seriously?'

Graham explained, "That pill is made from scarce drugs, so it's very precious."

Jeff silently put away his notebook and pen, saying, "Then forget about it. Dr. Smith, please continue to take care of my mom."

Jeff and Skylar wanted to save Vilma only because she held 30% of shares worth 45 million dollars. The price of that pill alone would cost one-fifth of the share value. It was obviously not a good choice for them.

Besides, Vilma had a bias toward Abella. And if she became a dotard later, she might even give all her shares to Abella.

Jeff and Skylar wanted to let Vilma make a will before she passed away, promising to give all her shares to Isla. This was why they wanna save Vilma.

Abella had helped the Wilson family through their difficult times before. But it was also because Vilma held shares of the company. Otherwise, Abella wouldn't even give a damn.

But the Wilson family didn't know about that and thought they were very promising to become the richest in New York.

Jeff took out the bank card he planned to give to Abella earlier and secretly stuffed it in the medical record book in front of Graham.

Graham didn't miss this scene, and he looked at Jeff with a little more disdain.

"Mr. Wilson, are you trying to get me fired and sent to jail?" Graham asked coldly. Medical personnel who used their positions for personal gain by accepting bribes would be charged with bribery; if the amount was large enough, they would be sent to jail.

"Dr. Smith, don't misunderstand us." Jeff quickly put on a smile. Then, he cautiously said, "It's not a bribe. Just a small token of our appreciation. We know you've been working hard lately. Take this money and buy some good stuff for yourself."

"That's right. Dr. Smith, please take it!" Skylar added with a smile.

"Take it away." Without even looking at them, Graham spoke in a cold tone, "Someone has already briefed me on this matter, so I'll handle it accordingly. No need for you to do these. There's the door."

"But Dr. Smith..."

Skylar still wanna say something else, but Jeff quickly took the card back and said with a grin, "Okay, we'll leave now. If there's anything you need later, Dr. Smith, don't hesitate to call us." He acted as if nothing happened just now.

If it weren't for Abella's sake, Graham would've already driven them out.
