Chapter 565 Abella Revealed Maria's Secret
Late at night, the lights at Long Island Manor were dim, not as grand as before, with just a few hallway lights glowing faintly.
The manor was quiet; everyone was asleep. Maria left her room, saw no one around, and quietly took a long detour to another room. She looked around carefully before turning the doorknob.
Seeing no one, she quickly stepped inside and locked the door.
Inside, Jacob noticed her and said, "What are you doing here? If someone sees you..."
"I checked; no one followed me." Maria poured herself a glass of water, drank it, and angrily crushed the cup.
"Elsa's getting worse. Today, she pushed Lola's head into the sink at school and poured trash on her. She even said Lola should get used to it because once the Medici family kicks her out, she'll make Lola's life miserable," Maria said angrily.
"That brat really thinks she's something." Jacob's eyes flashed with anger.
"Exactly, I can't stand it!" Maria fumed. "She's bullied Lola over and over, thinking Lola's easy to push around!"
"In the future, just send me a WhatsApp message about stuff like this. No need to come here," Jacob reminded her. "Someone might hear us."
"I just missed you." Maria hugged him. "How long has it been since you reached out to me? Four or five months?"
Ever since Lola finished her SATs and went on summer vacation, he hadn't been as passionate.
Jacob resisted her, his voice cold. "Stop it, we have important things to do."
"Yes, it's late, the perfect time for something important." Maria began unbuttoning her nightgown.
Jacob hurriedly buttoned it back up. "Go back quickly. If someone finds out..."
"No one will find out," Maria said, noticing a bit of pink fabric peeking out from under the bedcovers.
She couldn't believe it and rushed over to check.
"It's time to go back." Jacob pushed her, stopping her from approaching the bed. "Get some rest."
Maria stomped on his foot, and as he winced in pain, she quickly pulled back the covers.
Underneath was a naked, panicked Sofia, the new maid.
"You slut, seducing people, and now you're seducing my lover." Maria started hitting her.
"Ah, Maria, I didn't know Jacob was your lover." Sofia covered her face, begging for mercy. "If I had known, I would never have slept with him."
"I'm gonna give you a good beating, you shameless bitch." Maria slapped and pinched her. "You always act so pitiful, and when Mr. Medici doesn't pay attention to you, you turn your bad intentions towards Jacob!"
Sofia screamed in pain.
"Maria, stop it!" Jacob, now furious, pulled Maria off the bed.
Maria, her hair a mess and shaking with anger, pointed at Jacob and snapped, "Jacob Flores, do you have any conscience? I've worked so hard for you all these years, and you pull this? Either let me vent by beating this slut and kicking her out, or I'll tell Mr. and Mrs. Medici everything that happened back then!"
"Maria!" Jacob shouted.
"Think I won't?" Maria's hysterical outburst left Jacob deflated, standing silently by.
Knowing he had given in, Maria resumed hitting Sofia, slapping and pinching her. "Slut, just because you're young and pretty, you think you can seduce anyone. Today, I'm teaching you a lesson."
"Stop hitting me, Jacob, help me." In her struggle, Sofia accidentally knocked off Maria's wig.
She froze, tears welling up. "So, it's true what Jacob said, you really don't have any hair."
"You, you bitch." Maria, enraged, continued to hit her.
After a while, the sound of a car reached their ears.
Sofia, pinned by the window and unable to defend herself, saw Abella returning.
She quickly said, "It looks like Ms. Abella Medici is back! Maria, please let me go. Mrs. Abella Medici is always smart; if she hears..."
Maria looked outside and saw it was indeed Abella.
She gave Sofia one last pinch. "Forget everything you heard tonight. Find an excuse to quit tomorrow. If I find out you have any bad intentions..."
"I won't, I won't. I'll quit tomorrow and won't say a word. I'll leave with all the secrets!" Sofia said quickly.
Maria's eyes flashed with a hint of murderous intent as she pushed Sofia away, gave Jacob a fierce glare, and left.
Abella parked the car in the garage and took the elevator to the first floor.
Today, she had received news from Clare that the Piercing of Heart would be auctioned at an underground auction in Nuw Yark. To enter, one had to be a member and verify their assets at the door.
Clare, a regular at major auctions, was already a VIP and could bring friends. But she had other matters to attend to, so after taking Abella inside, she would leave. Abella planned to go to Nuw Yark tomorrow and attend the auction in the evening to bring back the Piercing of Heart.
Abella intended to go home and pack a few things, but as soon as she stepped out of the elevator on the first floor, she saw Maria sneaking back into the living room.
"Ms. Abella Medici is back?" Maria's tone seemed to carry a hint of sarcasm.
Abella looked at her coldly. "What are you doing sneaking around here late at night instead of sleeping?"
"Ms. Abella Medici, you must be joking. What could a servant possibly be doing this late? But why are you back so late when others are already asleep?"
Abella caught the sarcasm in her tone and smirked coldly. "Idle people should go to bed early since they have nothing better to do. Unlike you, wandering around late at night, making people think you're a thief."
Maria was displeased. "Ms. Abella Medici, why don't we have a talk?"
"Talk about what?" Abella looked at her coldly. "About why you always wear a wig? Or about the secrets between you and Lola?"
