Chapter 710 Mutual Suspicion
Angie was fuming inside, thinking, "Bonnie's such a clueless idiot. She doesn't even know Derek's playing for our team too!"
Bonnie watched them walk away, her curiosity piqued. She didn't have solid proof yet, but seeing those three head upstairs together, she knew there was more than one rat in the house.
"Derek, what did Bonnie say to you just now?" Ulysses whispered as they reached the second floor. "How much does she know?"
"She was just rambling at first, nothing useful. Then she handed me this USB drive, claiming all the secrets are on it." Derek opened the study door, fired up the computer, and plugged in the USB drive.
Sure enough, there was an encrypted folder!
Derek typed in 123456, and it came back wrong. Tried again, still wrong!
"Is Bonnie screwing with me?" Derek's face darkened, unsure of Bonnie's game.
"She asked if you remembered, and you said you did. You said you weren't confused, so why can't you remember now?" Angie suddenly suspected Derek was playing dumb, wanting to peek at the secrets after they left.
Derek was getting pissed. "Angie, what are you implying? That I'm purposely entering the wrong password to keep you out?"
"You said Bonnie's secret was simple, yet you got it wrong? So what's the password?"
"123456."
"Who uses such a basic password? If the info's important, she wouldn't use something that easy!"
Derek was fuming. "That's what she said the password was!"
"You said she rambled before mentioning the USB drive. From what I know, she's not a chatterbox and gets straight to the point. Maybe what she said before, Derek, is something you don't want to tell us?" Angie was suspicious again.
"What's there to hide? Did you two do something behind my back, afraid I'll find out?"
"What are you talking about!" Angie snapped, like a cat whose tail got stepped on.
Seeing Angie's reaction, Derek started to think maybe she was onto something.
But right now, Bonnie's matter was more pressing.
Derek said, "Bonnie only talked about her life with Alexis and Alexis' feelings and sincerity towards her, nothing else!"
That's why he thought Bonnie was just spewing nonsense.
Angie added, "Nothing else, really? Derek, think carefully."
Seeing he couldn't get through to Angie, Derek turned to Ulysses. "Ulysses, do you not believe me either?"
"Do you have anyone who can crack this password?" Before Ulysses could answer, Angie cut in, "Honey, did you forget we have someone for that? It's Derek's birthday today; let's not bother him. We'll take the USB drive back and let our guys handle it."
Hearing this, Derek thought Angie wanted to see the contents first. Was there something he didn't know?
"Angie, you're so hung up on this USB drive. Is there really something inside you don't want me to see?" Derek yanked the USB drive out and shoved it in his pocket.
Angie freaked out. "I knew it! You totally know the password and are just messing with us! What could we possibly have that you don't know? But you, have you done something to betray Ulysses? Hand over the USB drive."
Bonnie figured the second floor was probably a madhouse by now. Seeing Abella show up, she grinned. "You're pretty quick."
"Aunt Bonnie, you did great too."
Bonnie lowered her voice. "There are like a hundred surveillance cameras outside the villa. Can you disable them remotely?"
Her crew had scoped out the area and found the whole 500-meter perimeter of the villa was under heavy surveillance. Derek wasn't playing around this time.
"I've already disabled the cameras at the back door and the east fence," Abella replied.
Bonnie was a bit taken aback. "When did you do that?"
"Just now. After hearing Gino and his guys in the study, I went to Derek's room and took care of it."
Bonnie didn't expect Abella to act so fast and be so sharp, knowing her crew was coming and disabling the cameras.
"So, if we come in from the east fence and the back door, the cameras won't catch anything?"
Abella nodded. "The folks in the surveillance room will still see the time ticking, but the footage is actually frozen, and nothing's being recorded. Even if someone comes in now, it won't show up on the screen."
"You're amazing!" Bonnie couldn't help but pinch her cheek. Abella was really something!
Meanwhile, Gino's eyes were cold and menacing. He asked the head of security, "I asked you to check the surveillance. How's it going?"
The head of security replied respectfully, "Just before and after you went upstairs, seven or eight guests left the main hall and went to the garden. The garden's cameras don't cover every corner. The guests who appeared on camera seemed normal, and nothing unusual was found."
"What about Bonnie and the girl she brought, Abella?" Gino said, still eyeing the two from a distance, feeling they were suspicious.
"Bonnie was being harassed by some female guests the whole time. As for Abella, Milan Puckett was chatting her up, and then the cameras went out, so nothing was recorded."
"What did you say?" Gino's eyes flashed with shock. 'Could it be that Abella pulled it off right then?'
"Later, when you said someone was eavesdropping outside the study, I took people to check which guests had left. After searching the main hall and the garden, we saw Bonnie and Abella were both in the garden and hadn't left. They didn't seem suspicious."
"No." Gino still felt something was off. Since Abella knew how to recover deleted footage, she must also know how to delete it!
"But from the time you went to the study to discovering someone outside, it was only a few minutes. The entire villa is surrounded by our people. If Abella had really gone upstairs, she would have been seen! She couldn't possibly be agile enough to come and go freely in such a short time."
So, the head of security thought it was impossible.
"Either she has a problem, or she has help. Anyway, keep a close eye on them! Even if they go to the bathroom, send some women in to see if they're plotting something!"
"Yes."
