Chapter 735 The Drama at the Doorstep is Truly Exciting
Half an hour later, Phillipe's ride rolled up to the manor gate first.
He popped open the door for Abella and pulled her into a tight hug, almost not wanting to let go. "Who knows when I'll see you again?"
Abella gave him a reassuring pat on the back. "Hey, if I'm not swamped, I'll give you a ring, okay?"
"Seriously?" Phillipe rarely got calls from her. In the six months they'd known each other, Abella had only called him a few times.
"Yeah, I'll hit you up when I can. Once things chill out, we'll head back together?"
Abella never used to be the one to make plans or care about his feelings like this.
Phillipe felt a bit better, his eyes softening. "Alright, it's a deal."
Abella was about to say "deal" when Phillipe leaned in and kissed her again.
Henry was driving and saw a couple making out at the manor gate from a distance. It was Phillipe's car!
Lola didn't expect them to be kissing again. 'Seriously, are they doing this just to mess with me?'
Henry had enough. He slammed on the brakes, unbuckled his seatbelt in a huff, and stormed towards Phillipe.
Phillipe and Abella were still kissing when a car's headlights hit them. Phillipe squinted and saw Henry storming out of the car, heading straight for him.
Phillipe quickly put Abella behind him, and the next second, Henry's fist was flying at him.
Phillipe dodged and landed a punch on Henry's face.
Henry hit the ground, blood trickling from his mouth.
Lola freaked out and rushed out of the car to help him up. "What the hell are you doing!"
"Stay out of it," Henry snapped, glaring at Phillipe, clearly not done yet.
Just as Henry was about to go at Phillipe again, Abella stepped in, cool as a cucumber. "If you've got something to say, say it. Fighting's not gonna solve anything."
No way was Phillipe letting Henry get the upper hand.
"Henry!" Lola grabbed his hand, trying to stop him from making a bigger fool of himself.
"Quite the show at the doorstep. Glad I didn't miss it." A laid-back voice came from the gate.
A red dress highlighted Bonnie's elegance and authority.
She was cold and striking, with a presence that rivaled the younger crowd.
"Aunt Bonnie?" Lola was a bit taken aback, not expecting Bonnie to be watching.
'Oh crap, if Bonnie spills the beans about Abella's identity, Henry will find out Abella's the real Medici daughter, and I'm just the adopted one with no blood ties.' Lola regretted her earlier haste, just wanting to stop Henry from embarrassing himself.
She'd totally forgotten about this!
Abella saw Bonnie and obediently called out, "Aunt Bonnie."
Henry was surprised to hear this "Aunt Bonnie." 'Who is this new girl Phillipe's with, and why is she calling Bonnie "Aunt Bonnie" like Lola?'
But Bonnie seemed unfazed, her eyes twinkling. "Fighting at the doorstep, you youngsters are so hot-headed. Come in and have a cup of coffee to cool down."
As soon as Bonnie finished speaking, the gate opened, inviting them in.
"Mrs. Harris." Phillipe started to explain, but Bonnie cut him off. "We're all family now. You can call me Aunt Bonnie, just like Abella."
Phillipe didn't expect to win Bonnie over so fast. He glanced at Abella with soft eyes. "Aunt Bonnie."
Bonnie found him pretty sharp and then turned to Henry.
Even though Henry had a million questions, he still obediently said, "Aunt Bonnie."
Bonnie crossed her arms, looking every bit the boss. "Follow me."
Lola quickly chimed in, "Aunt Bonnie, Henry's hurt. I need to take him to the hospital."
She was scared that if they went inside, her fake identity would get blown.
Bonnie turned her head, showing off her perfect profile. "What medicine don't we have here? Plus, isn't the world's best doc standing right in front of you?"
Henry was confused.
"What? Caleb's not here, so my words don't count?"
"Of course not," Lola said, feeling a bit guilty.
"Thanks for the invite, Aunt Bonnie." Henry didn't want to make Lola uncomfortable and whispered to her, "I'm fine."
Lola wasn't really worried about his injury; she was just scared her cover would be blown.
Bonnie strutted ahead, looking all elegant and commanding.
Lola's mind was racing, but she had no choice but to follow.
Phillipe held Abella's hand, his gaze softening. "Meeting your family already?"
"Isn't this what you wanted?"
"I didn't bring anything, came empty-handed." Phillipe felt a bit embarrassed.
"Aunt Bonnie doesn't care about gifts, just people."
"Then I'll make sure to leave a good impression."
In the living room, Bonnie took the main seat, her curly hair and red lips, with flawless makeup, exuding the aura of a queen.
She told the servants to serve coffee, smiling with her red lips. "Your uncle's out, not home, and your grandpa's already in bed."
Abella asked with concern, "Is Grandpa feeling better?"
"He listened to you and went to the hospital for a scan. Just like you said, no fractures or ligament injuries. The doc said your medicine was top-notch and wanted the hospital to buy it in bulk. I told them it was made by you."
Henry was a bit surprised. 'This new girl knows medicine? She can even make it? And her stuff is recognized by doctors? She even uses it on her grandpa.'
"Abella, is your medicine expensive to make?" Bonnie's smile deepened. "The doc said such good stuff could sell for twenty grand on the black market."
"More than that." Phillipe looked at Abella with eyes full of tenderness. "Even ten times that wouldn't be enough."
"That pricey?" Bonnie laughed appreciatively. "Seems the doc didn't know what he was talking about and lowballed the value."
"As long as Grandpa's okay." Abella felt relieved.
"With you around, your grandpa will be just fine."
The servants brought coffee and snacks, and Bonnie instructed, "Bring the first aid kit."
She looked at Abella, smiling. "What medicine is best for Henry's condition?"
Abella knew his injury wasn't serious, just a punch. Normally, she wouldn't have needed any medicine for this.
"An ice pack for a cold compress and some simple bruise and pain relief medicine will do." Abella still gave her suggestion.
"Just so happens we have disposable ice packs at home, and we'll use some bruise ointment." Bonnie took out these two items from the first aid kit and had the servants bring them to Henry.
