Chapter 723 It Hurts from the Fall

Lola couldn't help but crack up and ask, "Grandpa, you really think I'm a cheapskate?"

"Nah, no way. You've always been a good kid—sweet, sensible, kind, and generous." Hearing David's praise, Lola felt way better. She glanced at Abella, but Abella was just chillin', eating her breakfast, not even looking her way.

Lola got a bit ticked off, thinking Abella was just playing dumb but was actually super jealous of her.

After breakfast, Lola wanted to show off a bit, but Bonnie got a call and bounced.

Caleb said gently, "Abella, come to my study for a sec."

Abella was about to text Phillipe to tell him she could hang out, but hearing Caleb, she nodded and followed him upstairs.

Seeing it was just her and David in the living room, Lola thought it was a perfect chance to get closer to him.

"Grandpa, now that we're stuffed, how about a walk in the garden?" Lola said sweetly, holding his hand. "It's been ages since we walked together. Remember when I was little, I'd run ahead, and you'd chase me? I picked a little flower for you and told you that when I grew up, I'd buy you a bigger estate and plant more beautiful flowers. You smiled and said that when I grew up, you'd be happy just if I visited and walked with you."

David looked at the freezing weather outside. He wasn't too keen, but seeing Lola so excited, he agreed.

Lola was thrilled and told the servant, "Take a few pics of us from behind later."

She wanted to post them on Stories.

After the servant agreed, Lola held David's hand and just stepped out of the main building when a freezing wind hit them.

"Grandpa, you know? When Abella first came back, I was totally shocked. I couldn't believe I wasn't the real daughter of the Medici family."

David's teeth were chattering from the cold. The main building was warm, but outside was freezing.

The worst part? He was wearing slippers.

Even with warm socks, the cold wind slowed him down.

"I was so scared of losing you all. Luckily, Abella let me stay, giving me the chance to be with you. Walking with you feels like being a kid again." Lola leaned her head on David's arm.

She thought, 'From this angle, the pic will look awesome.'

But when the servant took the pic, they saw Lola's pajamas were too thick, her hair was a mess from the wind, and David was so cold he was hunched over and shaking. The pic was a disaster.

"Grandpa." Lola snuggled up to David, admiring the snowy scene.

David was so cold he was breathing out white puffs. "Lola, it's freezing. Let's go back inside and have some coffee. I haven't heard you play the piano in forever."

"Grandpa, guess what? I won first place in the last piano competition!" Lola said proudly.

She didn't mention that Abella was actually better at the piano.

"Really? Then I gotta reward you well!" David thought he could finally go back inside.

Unexpectedly, Lola tugged on him and asked, "What’s the reward, Grandpa? Clothes, jewelry, or something else?"

David was so cold his brain was on freeze mode. He just blurted out, "Whatever you want, I'll get it for you."

His lips were turning blue, and he just wanted to get back inside ASAP.

Then, it started snowing, and the wind blew the flakes right at them.

The snow was coming down hard, like someone was dumping buckets from the sky.

"Is it snowing?" Lola didn't expect the weather to turn so nasty. She grabbed David's hand and said, "Let's take a walk next time."

David was thinking the same thing, relieved they could finally head back.

Not far away, the servant raised the phone, trying to snap a few shots.

Lola had a sudden idea, thinking that if she ran with her grandpa, the scene would be beautiful!

But as she took a few steps, she slipped because she was wearing slippers.

Since she was holding David's hand, she pulled him down with her when she fell.

The servant not far away captured this moment, got scared, and quickly rushed over to help.

The snowy weather made the ground super slippery, and since Lola and David were wearing house shoes that weren't slip-resistant, they fell as soon as they started running on the smooth ground.

"Grandpa, are you okay?" Lola didn't care about herself. Seeing David in pain, she quickly tried to help him up. "Let me help you up."

"Ms. Lola Medici, don't move Mr. David Harris!" The servant shouted from a distance, "Let me do it!"

Lola felt a bit annoyed. 'A servant dares to stop me? What? Trying to take credit?'

"Mr. David Harris fell. You can't just pull him up. If he's injured, it could make it worse," The servant squatted in front of David and asked softly, "Mr. David Harris, are you dizzy? Do you feel nauseous?"

Lola was already upset from being loudly stopped, and now hearing the servant ask irrelevant questions made her even angrier.

"Why are you asking these questions at a time like this? My grandpa is still sitting on the cold, wet ground, and it's snowing heavily. If you don't help me, fine, but hurry up and help him up!" Lola said.

But the servant didn't argue with her and patiently explained, "Ms. Lola Medici, don't worry. I just want to determine if Mr. David Harris has hit his head and if he's still conscious."

The servant then looked at David and asked softly, "Mr. David Harris, can you move your limbs?"

If he couldn't move his hands or feet, it could be a fracture. Forcing him to stand up could cause the bones to shift, leading to secondary injuries.

"I can move, but my waist hurts a lot." David had fallen on his waist, and now it hurt so much that he couldn't move.

Lola already felt guilty for causing Vanessa's injury last time. Now seeing David in such a state, she was afraid that Caleb and Bonnie would blame her and have a bad impression of her.

"Grandpa, let me massage it for you!" As soon as Lola started massaging David, he cried out in pain.

"Ms. Lola Medici, don't massage!" The servant couldn't help but say, "Massaging after a fall can hinder recovery and worsen the condition, causing local tissue congestion, swelling, and even dislocation."

Lola didn't expect there to be so many troublesome precautions. "Then what should we do?"
