Chapter 274 That's Abella
Just as Mr. Wilson was about to show the invitation message and lead his wife and daughter through the gate, one of the security guards immediately stopped him.
"I'm sorry, but may I ask which group you represent?"
Mr. Wilson was puzzled, "Didn't you read the message just now? Haven't you heard of the Wilson Group?"
"The Wilson Group??" The security guard seemed genuinely unfamiliar with this name. The participants in today's auction were all top-tier conglomerates, and they truly hadn't heard of such a small group.
The security guard hurriedly asked his colleague next to him, "Is the Wilson Group participating in the auction today?"
"I don't know. I haven't heard of that name. Let me confirm."
"I apologize for the inconvenience. Could you please wait here for a moment?" The security guard politely asked as he reached for the phone, presumably to verify Mr. Wilson's identity.
"Wait a moment, please." Mr. Wilson said.
The Wilson family felt quite irritated at being kept outside. "It was your auction house that sent me the text message reminding me to come today. Can't this text message prove my identity?" Mr. Wilson said.
Mrs. Wilson couldn't help but add, "This is our business card. We are billionaires!"
The leading security guard was stunned.
Another security guard also looked puzzled, looking at the location on the card, "The North District?"
The third security guard couldn't help but mutter, "The most backward place is the North District."
The other two security guards were speechless. Finally, they understood. It turns out they were just some small-time billionaires from a small place. They thought they were so important, but little did they know that they were just the small fish here today.
Seeing the security guards' frustrated and speechless expressions, the Wilson couple felt extremely embarrassed.
Even Isla felt ashamed that these security guards who had no exposure to the world could dare to look down on them!
"How much longer do we need for verification?" Mrs. Wilson never expected to encounter trouble even before the auction started. Would there be any more surprises today?
The security guard who had gone to check quickly returned. "Sorry, this way, please."
"Keep your eyes wide open next time and remember, the Wilson Group will definitely secure this piece of land today! We'll have more opportunities to meet in the future!" Mrs. Wilson said coldly.
The four security guards didn't understand where their confidence came from. Today's auction participants included the Bourbon Group, which alone could easily crush them.
Not to mention the other major corporations.
But they remained silent, making way for Mrs. Wilson and letting the family pass by.
"Isla, did you see that? Those four watchdogs were so respectful and eager to please the Medici couple. We must climb up and become the elite. Only then will we avoid the embarrassment we just faced!" Mrs. Wilson said.
"Yes, I'll remember." Isla resolved in her heart once again that today, she must seduce a richer man than Remy.
Mr. Wilson looked at the seat numbers in the text message, searching around. He never expected that their seats would be at the last row, on the far edge.
"This is too far, isn't it?" Mrs. Wilson couldn't help but worry. "Will the host be able to see us when it's time for us to raise our paddle?"
"We have no choice." Mr. Wilson also didn't expect that the organizers would assign such an unfortunate location for them, especially being so close to the restroom. Although he was angry, there was nothing he could do. At least they were still part of the auction.
"At least we have seats and an invitation. Look at how many groups outside are eager to come in but don't qualify." Mr. Wilson consoled himself.
When they entered a while ago, they noticed several small groups and employees from smaller companies waiting outside, hoping to catch a glimpse of the big shots here after the auction.
"We get to easily meet the people that they have to wait for!" When Mr. Wilson said this, Isla's mood improved significantly. She felt it made sense.
Just as Mrs. Wilson was pondering how to build a good relationship with the other wealthy ladies ahead, she heard Isla exclaim, "Mom, Dad, look, there’s Abella!"
In the blink of an eye, Abella was walking past them, hand in hand with a man.
All Mr. and Mrs. Wilson could catch was their backs.
Isla covered her mouth and, after a moment of shock, said, "It's the same man from last time!"
"Which one?" Mrs. Wilson had no idea who she was referring to, but as she gazed at the man's back, she remarked, "He looks quite young. I wonder which corporation he belongs to. I never expected that wretch to find a boyfriend so quickly!"
"She's the founder of QY and she found a well-matched boyfriend. Isn't that normal? Besides, she's at the age where dating is expected. Even Isla has a fiancé!" Mr. Wilson said.
Upon hearing Mr. Wilson's words, Mrs. Wilson couldn't help but remind Isla, "Remember, once you find someone better, you must dump Remy, preferably before the engagement banquet."
"Mom, don't worry, I know what to do." Isla, said looking at the man's back. She then expressed surprise once again, "Mom, look, both that man and Abella are seated in the front row, right in the center!"
Seated with them were also Mr. Medici, Mrs. Medici, Steven, and a few others.
Those were important figures that they had tried to curry favor with but failed!
Yet now they were all seated together with Abella!
"Isla, don't worry, once we secure the land today, we'll also have a share of such positions in the future!" Mrs. Wilson reassured her.
Hearing her mother's comforting words, Isla felt a little better. Yes, as long as they secured the land today, the Wilson family would turn things around!
"But Mom, where are we staying tonight? Are we going to a hotel?" Isla, seeing no one within earshot, couldn't help but whisper, "We even sold our last property."
"As long as we secure the land today, why worry about a place to stay in the future? If worse comes to worst, we can move to Grandma's place for a while. She still owns a few properties, and I remember there's a villa in the outskirts." Mrs. Wilson said.
Isla felt more at ease hearing this.
As long as they have a place to live, it's fine. The only thing of value they have left is that Maybach.
They sold everything else!
Even their jewelry, they sold it all!
Only the clothes they wore on the day of the engagement banquet are left, the rest is gone.
