Chapter 1071 Flaunting Power
The gatekeeper at Long Island Manor didn't see Phillipe leave; his car was still parked outside.
Shortly after, someone found Phillipe's clothes in Abella's shower room, and the guest room next door was locked from the inside. The servants, amused by the discovery, quickly informed the anxious Kimberly.
Kimberly had been worried something had happened to Abella, but upon hearing the news, she felt relieved and couldn't help but smile. She ordered all the servants to stay off the second floor to avoid disturbing them.
Unbeknownst to her, Abella had also fallen asleep.
Phillipe woke up sometime later, feeling a wave of happiness as he saw Abella in his arms.
Her soft body made him reluctant to let go, and he inhaled her scent contentedly, holding her close.
Two days later, Lola found out that Whitney was alone between 2 and 3 PM every day, so she sent someone with nutritional supplements and flowers to visit.
Whitney, who had been in the ICU for several days, was just starting to feel better. When the bodyguard at the door reported that Lola had arrived, her mood soured instantly.
"I know Mrs. Hall doesn't want to see me. I'll just leave the things and go," Lola said as she was wheeled in by a servant.
The bodyguards in the ward were at a loss, unsure whether to stop her or not.
"What are you doing here?" Whitney clearly didn't want to see her.
"Mrs. Hall, I know your illness is because of me, and I feel really guilty. These gifts are a small token of my apology," Lola began, but Whitney cut her off coldly.
"You used my son's money to buy these things, and you call that a token? If you have any genuine remorse, leave my son alone and stop ruining his life!"
Lola knew Whitney wouldn't have anything nice to say, but with the bodyguards present, she put on a pitiful act.
"Henry and I are getting married this Friday at 7 PM at the Sovereign Mirage Hotel. We both hope you can put aside your differences and attend our wedding. After all, you only have one son, and this is a once-in-a-lifetime event..."
Whitney's heart couldn't take it. "What did you say?"
"Henry chose this date with the help of a fortune teller. Don't worry, after the wedding, I'll be part of the Hall family, and Henry and I will take good care of you." Lola noticed the medical equipment showing erratic readings and smiled with satisfaction. "I won't disturb you any longer, Mrs. Hall. Goodbye."
She glanced at Briar, who nodded at Whitney in farewell and wheeled Lola out.
Whitney couldn't believe it. Despite her strong opposition and being in the ICU, her son had secretly consulted a fortune teller and set the wedding date for this Friday without their consent.
"Mr. Hall must have heard the doctor say you could be discharged on Wednesday, so..." The bodyguard began, but Whitney fainted from anger before he could finish.
The bodyguard panicked and quickly pressed the call button.
Meanwhile, Abella visited Josie, Joanna, and Lauren at the hospital.
They were in three different wards.
Josie had Samuel with her. When Abella arrived with a bag of fruit, Samuel was feeding Josie.
"Hey, Abella! Good to see you!" Samuel greeted her with a bright smile. "How are you holding up?"
"Abella, are you feeling better?" Josie asked from the bed, her concern evident.
"I'm doing fine," Abella replied, placing the fruit on the table and glancing at the porridge in Samuel's hand. "What are you feeding Josie?"
"I whipped up some nutritious porridge I found online. It doesn't look like much," Samuel said, a bit embarrassed.
"It tastes okay," Josie added with a smile.
Seeing the affection between them, Abella smiled. "Does your neck still hurt?"
"Not at all," Josie replied.
"And your arm?"
"Not anymore."
"I ate the fruit Samuel sent to my house. It was sweet and delicious."
Josie pulled Abella to sit by the bed. "Abella, you went through so much because of me and Joanna. I wanted to visit you, but the doctor said I need to be observed for two days before I can be discharged."
Before Abella had rushed to save her, Josie had been hit on the head by Isla's people, causing dizziness and nausea, so the doctor kept her for observation.
"Are you feeling better now?"
"I'm fine. I'll be discharged tomorrow."
After chatting with Josie for a while, Abella went to see Joanna.
Joanna had been slapped by Isla and stabbed in the leg. Fortunately, her winter clothes were thick, so the wound wasn't deep, but she still had to endure some pain and couldn't walk for a while.
Arthur, a wealthy man, was by her side, taking care of her attentively.
After chatting with Joanna, Abella went to see Lauren.
"Ms. Medici, thank you for saving me," Lauren said, trying to get out of bed to bow.
Abella quickly stopped her. "There's no need for that. You've been loyal to the Medici family. I should be thanking you."
Tears filled Lauren's eyes. "When I saw you coughing up blood but still determined to save me, I knew I could never repay your kindness. Please accept my apology."
Lauren tried to bow again, but Abella stopped her. "Who says you can't repay me? Just take care of yourself, stay healthy, and live happily. That's the best repayment for me."
Lauren's eyes grew even wetter. She couldn't understand why such a kind-hearted person like Abella would be hurt by those bad people.
"This happened because of me. I'm sorry you were frightened and suffered because of it," Abella said, handing Lauren a check.
Seeing the amount, Lauren quickly refused. "No, Mr. Medici and Mrs. Medici came this morning and tried to give me money too, but I don't want it. Ms. Medici, I don't feel like you caused me any trouble. On the contrary, knowing you and being part of the Medici family is the best decision I've ever made. It's my good fortune."
"This is for you to buy some nutritional supplements," Abella insisted.
But Lauren wouldn't take it. "Ms. Medici, there's no need. Just invite me to your wedding with Mr. Bourbon, and I'll be satisfied!"
Abella didn't expect the conversation to turn to her wedding. She smiled lightly. "Of course, you'll be invited."
