Chapter 353 The Whole Family Gathers
He stood tall and imposing, with striking features; the girls in the office were mesmerized, thinking how handsome he was.
When did such a person appear in the school? He looked so young.
Abella was the first to recognize him: Wasn't this the same man who wanted her to join the security department last night? What a coincidence.
It took Lucine a while to utter a thing, "Is that you?"
She had seen Ethan a few times at top-tier gatherings and had been completely enchanted by him.
Mrs. Allen also recognized him and asked gently, "Ethan? What are you doing here?"
Behind him, several young men with noble demeanors stood, each emitting a sense of righteousness.
It was said Ethan held a high-ranking position within the national government; his exact post and level were unknown to many.
Rumors had it, even state leaders heeded his words; his rank was very high.
Ethan did not recognize the mother and daughter before him, though Mrs. Allen greeted him warmly, saying, "In recent years, our families have become increasingly acquainted."
Ethan, however, made it clear that he was aloof from these connections, "I've rarely been home these past few years and am not well-informed about family matters. I am here today specifically because of the incident involving Miss Allen being assaulted."
At his words, Lucine's friends grew even more pleased, thinking another supporter had arrived for their cause!
They were eager to see what would become of Abella now.
When Mrs. Allen learned that young Ethan intended to defend her daughter, she was overjoyed, wondering if Ethan had taken a liking to her precious girl.
This would be indeed excellent news. After all, the Medici family is the wealthiest in the nation! Even a single flower in the garden is worth tens of thousands of dollars.
Noticing Mrs. Allen's delight, the department head easily surmised that the man before him was someone of importance. From his tone, was he intending to advocate for Lucine?
So he turned to Abella, presuming to instruct her, "Aren’t you going to apologize?"
Abella curled her lip in scorn, "You’re asking the wrong person. They are the ones who should apologize."
The department head, admiring this rebellious spirit, asked everyone to wait a moment and went to the adjacent counselor's office to get the students' records, then phoned the parents of Abella, Josie, and Joanna.
He inadvertently missed Clare.
After making the calls, the department head returned, hands clasped behind his back, with an air of self-satisfaction.
"Mrs. Allen, the parents of these students are on their way now, and they'll personally apologize to you and Miss Allen shortly."
Mrs. Allen, with uplifted spirits, invited Ethan to sit down for a catch-up.
Ethan, however, remained standing, clearly dissatisfied with how the department head was handling the situation.
"Department Head, Mrs. Allen, as far as I’m aware, it was Miss Allen who instigated the physical conflict."
If she hadn't drugged someone's water bottle and led others to ambush them, there wouldn't have been any reason for self-defense.
At this, Mrs. Allen’s face reflected shock. Was young Ethan here to speak on behalf of Abella? Did they know each other?
In that moment, Lucine was taken aback, a name flashing through her mind; Abella!
Abella and Ethan both shared the Medici surname, could it be that they were from the same family?
Were they some kind of cousins, or even second cousins?
Subconsciously, she grasped her mother's hand, but Mrs. Allen was unaware of the source of her daughter's fear and anxiety. Instinctively protective, Mrs. Allen asked, "What are Mr. Medici's intentions?"
“Tampering with a classmate's drink, such malicious behavior, doesn't Mrs. Allen think that Miss Allen should apologize voluntarily?"
Hearing the supportive tone, Lucine grew even more uneasy. Could it actually be that they really knew each other? However, Abella's face betrayed no recognition of Ethan.
Just then, a slender figure strode into the office. "Quite the lively scene here, isn't it?"
All heads turned at the sound, and it was Phillipe. Josie and Joanna, aware that Phillipe was Abella's fiancé, breathed a sigh of relief. It was obvious, Phillipe was here to stand up for Abella.
But Mrs. Allen was unaware, mistakenly assuming Phillipe's presence was due to the commotion; the Bourbon and Allen families had always been on good terms, and her father-in-law had saved Phillipe's father's life many years ago.
So, it made sense to her that Phillipe would step in upon hearing that Lucine had been injured.
With this thought, Mrs. Allen rose to her feet, addressing him with an uncharacteristically warm tone, "Phillipe? What brings you here?"
"I heard someone was bullying my people." At those words, everyone was stunned.
A mix of shock and delight swept over Mrs. Allen; Phillipe's statement seemed to imply he had taken an interest in her precious daughter, speaking on her behalf.
Even Lucine thought that Abella, of all people, could not possibly know someone as influential as Phillipe. A blush crept onto her face as she lowered her gaze, as if to coyly say: “Oh, stop it, you're so high-profile.”
The department head, not expecting Phillipe to intervene in such a matter, hurried forward, bowing deeply, "Mr. Bourbon, I'm truly sorry for disturbing you with this trivial issue. It was her, all this happened because of her! It was she who kicked Miss Allen, causing her to spit blood. I have already..."
"Not injured your foot?" In the next instant, Phillipe pulled Abella into his embrace and asked, "Kicking someone that heavy, did you hurt your foot? Let others deal with this next time, don't injure yourself."
Everyone was stupefied, damn it! Did Phillipe grab the wrong person? Listen to that doting tone.
Even the department head was dumbfounded. Stuttering after a long pause, "Mr. Bourbon, Miss Allen is over here."
At this point, Lucine's jaws could've dropped an egg in shock!
Her eyes screamed; “Did you hug the wrong person? I'm right here!”
"My fiancée? Would I mistake her?" Phillipe lifted his gaze, pressuring the department head, "Principal Wilson personally assured me he'd take good care of my fiancée. Is this your idea of care?"
Abella was Phillipe's fiancée! Everyone in the department head's office, except for Joanna and her group, was flabbergasted!
Phillipe's fiancée, wasn't that supposed to be Lola? How did it turn out to be Abella, this undistinguished nobody!
Ethan, standing to the side, felt a fury enveloping him. What was Phillipe even saying?
It was common knowledge that the Bourbon and the Medici families were betrothed, and it was certain he and Lola would marry!
But now, here in front of everyone, he declared Abella to be his fiancée. What about Lola?
Where did that leave Lola? Could it be he knew Lola was a fake and thus decided not to marry her? And how did Lola react? Did she agree?
Ethan’s men were stunned: Holy smokes, we've stumbled upon some wild gossip. The minister is right here, and the prospective groom is betraying the minister’s sister?
Then, a rushed voice reached everyone's ears.
"Who's being bullied?" All eyes followed the sound, and there was Mrs. Medici, the wife of the nation's wealthiest man! Her husband, Mr. Medici, was beside her!
Both had clearly walked over briskly and were still catching their breath!
Mrs. Allen, seeing Mrs. Medici arrive and entirely unsure of what was happening, asked reflexively, "Mrs. Medici, what brings you here?"
"I heard my daughter was being bullied. Who would dare?" Mrs. Medici looked around again and suddenly noticed her son, "What are you doing here?"
