Chapter 767 Nothing at All

Right then, Phillipe's phone buzzed.

Seeing him head out to the garden, Lola bolted downstairs, sneaking behind him, scheming something.

After Phillipe wrapped up his call, he heard someone call out, "Phillipe."

"Phillipe, I wanna say sorry. Last time was my bad, I..." Before Lola could finish, Phillipe pocketed his phone and brushed past her like she wasn't even there.

Lola felt the sting of humiliation and raised her voice. "Phillipe, can't you at least hear me out?"

Phillipe kept walking.

"Did someone put you up to this? The Phillipe I know isn't this cold."

Before she could finish, Phillipe stopped, his eyes narrowing. "Have I been too nice to you?"

He radiated annoyance, his icy stare sharp enough to cut.

"You twist words to trash my fiancée in front of me? You looking for trouble?"

"Phillipe, ever since you hooked up with Abella, you've been treating me like dirt." Tears welled up in Lola's eyes, like she was the victim here.

Phillipe's handsome face twisted with disdain. "What do you think you are?"

Lola's face fell.

Phillipe added, "To someone like you, what kind of attitude should I have? Even talking to you makes me sick."

"Phillipe, would you dare say that to my grandparents?" Lola bit her lip, looking pitiful. "They've loved me since I was a kid."

Phillipe's disdain deepened. "To me, you're nothing."

"What did you say?" Lola stared at Phillipe, stunned.

"Seems like you're not just dumb, but deaf too." Phillipe turned away, not wasting another second on her, and walked off.

Lola stood there, dazed, finally snapping out of it, feeling utterly humiliated. 'Phillipe is such a jerk! I'm a girl! How could he talk to me like that? Doesn't he know how embarrassing and uncomfortable that is?'

Hiding in the shadows, Bonnie saw it all and squinted. 'Looks like Phillipe really can't stand Lola, and Lola's got some feelings for Phillipe. Is she still trying to get his attention?'

Thinking this, Bonnie's eyes showed a flicker of annoyance.

At the dinner table, David grinned, "Phillipe, you drink? I picked out some low-alcohol wines for you."

Phillipe instinctively glanced at Abella, then said, "I don't drink."

David caught a look from Vanessa, chuckled, and put the wine bottle back. "I don't drink either. Just didn't know if you liked it, so I got a few bottles. Phillipe, you're a good kid, staying away from alcohol, that's a solid habit."

He eyed the foreign wines with a bit of longing, secretly swallowing, thinking he might sneak a sip.

Vanessa noticed but played it cool, smiling. "Phillipe, it's your first time here for dinner. I don't know what you like to eat. If there's anything you don't like, just let me know, and I'll make sure the chef skips it next time."

"He's not picky, he eats everything," Abella chimed in.

Phillipe glanced at Abella, his eyes always soft when he looked at her. "Abella's right, I eat everything, not picky at all."

"Phillipe, you've got so many good qualities," Vanessa said. "So, dig in. These dishes are some of our best."

"Thanks, Grandma."

Vanessa turned to Abella. "Abella, these are all your favorites. Eat up. You're always so busy and hardworking. I can't help with your work, but I hope these meals give you a little break and some joy."

Abella's eyes softened. "Thanks, Grandma."

"Abella, no need to be so formal."

"Phillipe, it's your first time here, make yourself at home. Eat and drink whatever you want, don't be shy," Caleb said, patting his shoulder. "After dinner, I'd love to have a good chat with you."

"You're gonna make Phillipe feel pressured and not able to eat," Bonnie laughed. "Caleb just wants to get to know you better, don't be scared."

Feeling their warmth, Phillipe said gently, "Thanks, Uncle Caleb, Aunt Bonnie."

Lola watched her family chatting with Phillipe and Abella, feeling like a total outsider, completely ignored.

"Is Phillipe focusing on domestic or international development lately?" Caleb asked with a smile. "I heard you came to Verdania specifically for Abella."

"Right now, we're moving at the same pace both domestically and abroad. Basically, wherever Abella is, that's where I am."

The whole family exchanged knowing smiles and said "oh" in unison, making Abella glance at Phillipe.

Phillipe looked back at her, smiling affectionately.

Caleb said, "Originally, Abella's parents wanted to come today, but I told them Easter is coming soon. I plan to take your grandparents back to Long Island Manor for a big gathering, and you should come too."

As soon as Caleb extended the invite, Bonnie said, "Phillipe's got family to be with too. I heard his grandparents just recovered, and his parents are back in the country. Let him spend time with them first. After Easter, he can come anytime."

"On Easter, Phillipe can have two meals, one with his family and one with us! He'll be part of our family sooner or later. I just want him to come," David said, making everyone laugh.

David looked eagerly at Phillipe. If he could come, Easter would be even more lively.

Phillipe smiled. "Recently, my parents also wanted to invite Abella to our house for Easter dinner. I haven't asked Abella yet. If she's up for it, we can come here first, and after eating, head over there."
