Chapter 955 Setting a Trap
Abella overheard their conversation and smirked. "I don't plan on saving him either."
"We don't need his useless clues. If all the important info on his phone is wiped, then saving him was pointless," Dennis said, not easily fooled and definitely not planning to let Abella save anyone, especially since Lola wasn't worth the hassle.
Knowing Henry's character, he wouldn't betray Lola, but he also knew that only this phone might save her life.
So, he probably checked out Jacob's phone, memorized the key info, deleted it, and then handed over the useless phone to them.
In that case, it was better not to bother.
"If Jacob's death wasn't voluntary and was forced by someone behind the scenes, what does that mean?"
As soon as Steven finished speaking, Beckett and Kimberly said in unison, "It means the person behind the scenes is getting impatient!"
They were starting to get anxious about dealing with Jacob.
When people got anxious, they tended to make mistakes.
Steven nodded. "That's why Abella had the two servants keep guarding Jacob and keep his poisoning death a secret, so no one outside would know. If the person behind the scenes wants Jacob dead and he isn't, they'll definitely send someone to check the situation, and there's a high chance they'll try to finish the job."
Kimberly hadn't expected Abella to have already thought of a way to lure the mastermind into a trap and instructed the servants to keep it confidential. She was impressed by how logical and thorough Abella's analysis was, making everything clear to them.
Abella was truly remarkable.
"The mastermind has been hiding for years, so they won't be easy to fool. Making them believe Jacob is still alive will be tough."
As soon as Beckett finished speaking, Dennis said, "What's so hard about that? Abella has the title of Medical Authority. The poison Jacob took is nothing to her. She could save him in no time. As for why she'd save someone who did so many bad things, it's to make him reveal the mastermind's identity. So, the mastermind will believe it and show up."
"Dennis is right," Abella agreed. "So, we just need to make them think I saved Jacob, but he's still unconscious and hasn't revealed the mastermind's identity. The mastermind will definitely send someone, and that's when we'll catch them!"
"Abella, you're brilliant," Kimberly couldn't help but praise. "You think so far ahead and so thoroughly! Let's do as you said. We'll have people openly guard Long Island Manor all the time. The other side will think we're protecting Jacob, waiting for him to wake up. Everything will seem natural and believable."
"Abella is truly amazing," Beckett said, genuinely pleased. "With this plan, it's only a matter of time before the other side falls into our trap."
"Let's follow Abella's plan," Steven said, looking at Abella with approval and admiration. No matter what happened, Abella never lost her composure.
"But..." Kimberly suddenly worried, "I called Henry earlier, and he knows Jacob is dead. What if he tells the mastermind to save Lola?"
"He doesn't know who the mastermind is, doesn't know we're setting a trap, and doesn't know Jacob's death is useful to us. So, he probably won't use this information," Abella assured.
"But what if..." Kimberly was still worried. She blamed herself for being too impulsive and almost ruining the plan by confronting Henry in anger.
"What's the big deal? You called him, I'll warn him a bit," Dennis said, known for his brashness.
Compared to him, Henry was a rule-abiding, principled guy.
As soon as Kimberly dialed Henry's number, Dennis took the phone. "Henry, listen up. Lola has harmed Abella so many times. We didn't kill her and even handed her over to you. That's already a huge favor. If you dare reveal Jacob's death, I'll personally take Lola's life!"
Henry, waiting for Abella's response, was stunned by Dennis's warning but quickly replied politely, "Mr. Medici, don't worry. I don't know if Jacob is dead or alive, and I'll keep this secret."
"And stay away from Abella! Lola doesn't deserve to be saved by Abella." Dennis finished and hung up.
Everyone was surprised by his arrogance.
But when he handed the phone back to Kimberly, he turned to Abella with a smile. "I was gentle enough, right? Just a verbal warning, didn't smash his car or cut the hospital's power. That's pretty nice of me."
Abella nodded approvingly. "Dennis, you are indeed a law-abiding citizen."
"Of course," Dennis said, raising an eyebrow and looking at everyone. "Did you hear that? Abella praised me!"
Henry heard the call end and felt a sinking feeling. He knew Abella probably wouldn't save Lola.
Even such an important phone couldn't save her.
What should he do?
Beckett and Kimberly increased security, and even Steven assigned many of his trusted men to guard Long Island Manor inside and out. The entire Medici Manor suddenly became heavily guarded.
Abella messaged the two servants in the basement, instructing them to take the two bags of bloody gauze she had placed in the corner and throw them in the outside trash, pretending to chat.
The conversation was already sent to them.
The two servants immediately complied.
Each carrying a bag of gauze and some household trash, they chatted as they walked.
When they threw the trash outside, they deliberately lingered.
"Didn't expect Mr. Medici and Mrs. Medici to really throw away everything related to Lola."
They saw the two large trash cans overflowing, with many things piled beside them. All this was just from today; the trash from last night had already been taken away.
"Let's not talk about Lola at home anymore. We don't want to upset Mr. and Mrs. Medici. She's not part of this family anymore. From now on, this family only has Ms. Abella Medici."
"Speaking of which, Ms. Medici is really amazing. She even saved someone so deeply poisoned. At first, I thought he was dead."
"Keep your voice down. Don't let anyone hear. At first, I thought he was dead too, almost scared me."
