Chapter 904 Abella Has Changed

In a split second, Dennis used his body to shield Abella from the incoming bullet, pushing her behind a pillar.

A bullet hit his back, and his face twisted in pain.

Other bullets grazed his clothes or hit the pillar, but luckily, none struck him directly.

The pain from that single bullet was already spreading through his body, tearing at him.

He had just sprinted up eighteen floors, dealt with a few minor threats along the way, and now shielded Abella from a bullet. The surgical wound on his chest had split open, and blood was slowly staining his white sweater, making it look horrifying.

Seeing Dennis injured, Louie and his men quickly took out the hidden attackers.

A few others charged at them with knives, but were swiftly dealt with by Theo.

Abella stared at Dennis in confusion, not understanding why he had saved her.

If he hadn't used his back to block that bullet, she would have been the one hit.

What was he trying to do?

"Let's go," Dennis said, his breath heavy and voice hoarse with pain. He grabbed Abella's wrist and hurried downstairs.

Abella noticed his back was also stained with blood.

That bullet must still be lodged in his flesh.

Theo took out a few more assassins and quickly followed them.

Louie, realizing time was running out, ordered all his men to move out.

The countdown continued.

As the explosion time approached, the sound became more urgent and piercing.

Dennis had just pulled Abella thirty feet away from the abandoned building when a deafening explosion erupted. The entire building collapsed like a stack of blocks, turning into rubble. Smoke billowed, flames soared, and the world shook violently. The massive shockwave sent them flying ten feet away.

Perhaps to prevent Abella from getting hurt, Dennis acted as a human cushion. When Abella fell, she landed on Dennis instead of the ground.

The explosion's waves continued, hurting everyone's ears.

Dennis covered Abella's ears, shielding her from the piercing noise.

Debris from the explosion flew towards them, and Dennis reached out to block some of the stones heading for Abella.

Abella couldn't understand why he kept saving her. and helping her repeatedly.

When the shaking finally subsided, Theo quickly got up and ran to Abella. "Ms. Medici, are you okay, Ms. Medici..."

He reached out to help Abella up and saw Dennis, covered in blood and pale, seemingly on the verge of passing out.

But there was a strange smile on his lips.

What was Dennis thinking? Why was he smiling?

Abella had fallen on him; would he hold that against them later?

Louie, lying on the ground, saw that the explosion's power had lessened and quickly got up, running towards Dennis.

The other men followed Louie's lead.

"Ms. Medici, we need to go. He's hurt badly, and his men might blame us..." Theo reminded.

They were already trying to kill them. Now it would be even more troublesome.

"If Maria's people inform their domestic allies and target your family..." Theo saw Louie and his men getting closer and urged, "We need to send the surveillance footage to your family. Let's go."

Abella couldn't wrap her head around Dennis's sudden change in attitude towards her, but seeing him so injured, she quickly pulled down Louie's rolled-up sleeve, tore off a button with medicine, and shoved it into Dennis's mouth.

"To save your life," She said, standing up and glancing at him. Seeing Louie and his men approaching, she turned and left with Theo.

"Ms. Abella Medici, wait..."

Hearing Louie knew her name, Abella and Theo exchanged a worried look.

They didn't stop; instead, they ran faster.

Abella had signed Theo's name on the island purchase agreement. How did Louie know her real name? Had they investigated her?

And found out she was Abella, which meant they might have discovered her identity back home.

What were they planning? Would they target her family?

Louie saw her running and quickly ordered his men to chase her while he crouched down and gently called, "Mr. Medici, hang in there, I'll get you to the hospital."

He tried to lift Dennis but hesitated, seeing him covered in blood, afraid of causing him more pain.

Dennis, lying on the ground, had moments of clarity and moments of blurred vision.

He saw Abella's departing figure and wanted to call out to her, but no sound came from his throat, as if his soul had left him, his head dizzy.

When he had acted as a human cushion to protect Abella, he had tightly held her, hitting his back and head on the ground.

Now, blood was flowing from the back of his head.

Seeing Abella's figure getting further away, he noticed her arm was injured, the bright red blood making his heart tighten. He wanted to speak, but then lost consciousness.

"Mr. Medici, Mr. Medici..." Louie panicked and called for help.

"They're really chasing us." Theo looked back, seeing Louie's men still pursuing them. Luckily, he had called for backup when they came down from the eighteenth floor.

Several black cars quickly pulled up in front of them.

"Ms. Medici, get in the car," Theo urged, "They're our people."

Abella opened the car door and got in.

The car sped off, and Theo, not yet inside, shouted, "Hey, hey, I haven't gotten in yet!"

He grabbed the passenger door and, as the car sped up, quickly climbed in through the window.

"Stop," Louie's men shouted, "Come back with us..."

Dennis wanted to see her, but she was already gone.

They could only draw their guns, aiming to shoot a tire to stop the car, but the car was too fast.

"Damn, they're pulling guns. All this over buying their island cheap, seriously..." Theo panted, catching his breath, then turned to see Abella's left arm bleeding, "Ms. Medici, you..."

"It's nothing," Abella dismissed it.

When Dennis had pulled her wrist and run downstairs, several bullets had flown towards them. With her hand being held, she couldn't dodge as skillfully as before, and her arm got grazed by a bullet.

Luckily, the bullet didn't stay in her flesh, unlike the one in Dennis's back, which would need surgery to remove.

That fall likely reopened the surgical wound on his chest, requiring stitches.

Fortunately, the hospital doctors could handle all that.
