Chapter 691 We Can't Just Sit and Wait for Death
Abella trailed behind the servant into the living room and spotted a stunning figure by the floor-to-ceiling window.
She was rocking a chic robe, elegant but with a sexy twist, and her short brown curls screamed sophistication.
"Mrs. Harris, Ms. Medici is here."
Bonnie Rojas spun around, her striking features bold and beautiful. She had her arms crossed, radiating pure boss energy.
Totally different from the delicate and charming image Abella had in her head, Bonnie's beauty was fierce and in-your-face, like a flashy, thorny rose.
"Are you Abella?" Bonnie flashed a smile, her vibe perfectly balanced. She smiled warmly and gave Abella a kind look. "Come over here, let me see you."
Abella stepped up and greeted, "Aunt Bonnie."
Bonnie gave her a once-over, her captivating eyes showing approval. "You look a bit like Kimberly, but you've got more presence, more oomph."
"Thanks, Aunt Bonnie, for the compliment."
Bonnie's red lips curved into a smile. "I heard from your uncle that you're already a hotshot doctor, a top student, a combat pro, and you've even got a crew of followers."
Just then, Jacques barged in. The servant next to him couldn't stop him and just bowed apologetically, "Sorry, Mrs. Harris, I couldn't stop him."
"No worries." Bonnie's eyes showed a bit of indifference as she looked at Jacques. "What's up?"
She always seemed to be in control, like she had everything on lock.
Jacques said, "Mrs. Harris, even though the people you brought back are loyal to you, they used to be Alexis' crew. What if they're out for revenge?"
"Jacques, you're overthinking it," Bonnie cut in confidently, "If I brought them back, I trust them. They won't harm Caleb or the Harris family. I know you're loyal to this family, so chill, they share the same goals as you."
With Bonnie's assurance, Jacques immediately bowed and said, "Sorry, I was overthinking. My bad for barging in and disturbing you, Mrs. Harris."
"Your constant concern for the Harris family is a good thing for me and the family. Someone, double Jacques' salary this month."
Jacques was floored by the sudden raise.
Abella instantly saw Bonnie in a new light. Logically, she should be struggling to keep control, but she managed to win over so many of Alexis' followers and make them loyal.
Bonnie was definitely not simple.
After Jacques left, Bonnie's gaze fell on Abella again, and she said warmly, "I came back in a rush and didn't have time to get you a gift. Let's hit the mall later."
Before Abella could refuse, Bonnie said, "No refusals. I haven't been shopping in ages. Just come with me."
Abella smiled. "Okay."
"Good girl." Bonnie playfully tapped Abella's nose, her eyes full of affection. "I'll go change my clothes first."
"Wait." Abella called out to her.
Bonnie looked puzzled until Abella gave her a quick check-up. Bonnie then smiled. "How am I doing?"
Abella was a bit surprised; she didn't expect Bonnie to be in such good health. "Looks like Aunt Bonnie has been eating and sleeping well over there."
Bonnie replied, "Of course, I can't just give up. I believe their shady plans will get exposed one day. Until then, I gotta stay sharp, gather dirt on them, and win over their people for my own use."
Abella couldn't help but admire Bonnie's smarts. She was someone who knew how to read the room, protect herself, and had killer ideas.
Such a person was a perfect match for Caleb, truly a power couple.
"See you in a bit." Bonnie gave her a knowing smile and gracefully headed upstairs.
For some reason, hanging out with Bonnie felt like a breath of fresh air, making Abella feel pumped.
Meanwhile, Lola was stewing over things and decided she couldn't just sit around. She found Kimberly and said sweetly, "Mom, Henry's been swamped with a big project in Verdania and hasn't been back for ages. He keeps saying he wants me to visit. I thought, why not go see him and also visit Grandpa and Aunt Bonnie?"
She clung to Kimberly's arm and added, "I heard Aunt Bonnie was found. Who knows what she's been through? There might be stuff she can't tell Uncle Caleb, a guy. If I go, at least she'll have someone to talk to."
Worried Kimberly might say no, Lola shook her hand and pleaded, "Mom, let me go. Grandpa used to spoil me, and Aunt Bonnie was always so good to me. Now you want me to stay home and do nothing? I feel bad about it."
Kimberly smiled helplessly. "I think you just miss Henry and want to see him. Fine, if you want to go, I won't stop you. But how will you get there? Our family's plane or a commercial flight?"
Seeing Kimberly finally agree, Lola beamed. "Henry said he'd send a plane to pick me up."
"Henry treats you so well, I'm very happy. I feel at ease leaving you with him," Kimberly said with satisfaction, "When he's less busy, invite him over to our house so we can get to know him better."
Lola thought, 'Would you invite Phillipe too? Trying to make Phillipe outshine Henry so your biological daughter gets more praise, making me and Henry look bad?'
Lola thought she had Kimberly's game figured out. Even though it bugged her, she still smiled sweetly and agreed.
When she was about to leave, Kimberly loaded her up with a bunch of valuable items to take as gifts.
Jacob drove Lola halfway, and she asked him to send the items to Maria, who would secretly sell them and deposit the money into her personal account.
As for the gifts, she planned to have Henry pay for new ones, so she'd have more cash in her account and still have gifts to present.
Verdania's most famous Riviera Avenue, packed with luxury brands.
As soon as Lola got off the plane, she headed straight there, using Henry's card to shop like crazy. Purses worth tens of thousands, jewelry worth hundreds of thousands, she bought everything she liked.
Henry was in a meeting, and his phone kept lighting up. Seeing Lola's continuous spending, his eyes softened. Lola finally started using his card to buy stuff.
Lola bought dozens of items in one go and asked the salespeople to send them to an address back home, planning to have Maria sell them privately for cash.
