Chapter 878 Landing on the Island

"I... I wouldn't dare go alone... but with you by my side, Ms. Medici, I feel brave enough to go anywhere."

"So, my presence is just to give you courage?"

"Because you're strong and you care about us. No matter what danger we face, you're always the first to protect us. Now that we're older, we can protect you in return."

"Like how you protected me last night?" Abella teased.

Theo remembered how he was surrounded by armed men the previous night and couldn't help but laugh. Abella's lips curled into a beautiful smile.

At 7 PM, Theo's car arrived at the hotel entrance, but instead of opening the door for Abella, he blocked it with his body, stammering and preventing her from getting in.

"Ms. Medici." Theo struggled to find the right words, his expression complicated. "Let me meet Mr. Medici tonight. They don't know who the real buyer is or what you look like. I'll just say I'm the one buying the island and go talk to them alone."

"What's going on?" Abella sensed something was off. "Just say it."

Theo hesitated for a moment but decided to come clean. He knew Abella's capabilities; even if he didn't tell her, she would find out the reason.

"They just told me the meeting place is on a small island, which is owned by Mr. Medici, known for its wild animals."

Due to Britonia's policies, as long as they had a permit, they could keep dangerous animals privately.

"Apparently, the island has cheetahs, lions, tigers, and other wild animals that Mr. Medici keeps, and they're all free-roaming."

In other words, they might not even get to meet Dennis before being torn apart by wild beasts.

"Did you forget where I used to stay?" Abella opened the car door and got in.

When she was injured in Triangle City, wild animals had approached her, drawn by the scent of her blood and her vulnerable state.

But she survived.

"But Ms. Medici..." Theo couldn't help but worry as she got in the car. "There are a lot of wild animals there. What if..."

"If he wants to sell the island and make seven or eight billion dollars from us, he won't just let his pets ruin the deal. At most, we might get a few scratches, but he'll step in to stop it when necessary."

After all, it was seven or eight billion dollars, not just millions.

"Besides, he invited us to the island to hear why we insist on buying it."

At the very least, he would let them live, though they might get injured.

Theo saw the logic but still worried about Abella's safety.

Even if she didn't die, if she got seriously injured, they, as her subordinates, couldn't bear it.

"Scared?" Abella teased.

"Who said I'm scared? If a tiger shows up, I can let it have a snack, as long as it doesn't bite you, Ms. Medici..." Theo couldn't help but add, "If something happens, you should run and find a safe place to hide."

"You're so skinny, the tiger would swallow you in two bites. By the time I start running, the tiger will already be in front of me."

"How about... I buy a few dozen pounds of meat on the way?" Abella couldn't help but laugh.

When they arrived on the island, sure enough, a tiger stood menacingly in their path.

"Don't run." Abella knew that big cats have an instinct to chase fast-moving objects. Not running was safer; running would almost certainly provoke a chase.

Theo stopped, his legs a bit shaky. "Ms. Medici, what do we do now?"

Were they supposed to just stand there and wait to be eaten?

He regretted not buying some meat earlier; it wouldn't have been this awkward.

He saw some stones on the ground and was about to pick one up when Abella said, "Don't crouch."

In a tiger's eyes, crouching makes you smaller and more tempting to attack.

Theo explained, "There are stones over there. I could throw one at it."

"Don't attack it. If it wanted to eat us, it would have pounced when it heard us arrive. This is its territory. It's here to intimidate us, not attack."

"So what do we do now?"

"Don't move."

Theo, though scared, stood still.

"Follow me, slowly back away, and take the side path."

Theo didn't understand why but followed Abella's lead, stepping back slowly towards the side path.

The tiger watched them retreat, yawned, and then turned away.

"Ms. Medici, this place is so creepy..." Theo shivered, sticking close to Abella. "How are you so calm..."

"I brought a stun baton."

"No wonder you're so brave, Ms. Medici. But can we really hit a tiger with it before it pounces?"

"Humans aren't faster than tigers, but whether we can hit it first depends on the situation."

In general, avoid provoking it if possible.

Just then, other animal sounds echoed from the island.

"Ms. Medici, let's hurry..." Theo wanted to run. "Mr. Medici is really cruel, not sending anyone to meet us since we arrived."

Clearly, he wanted to see them struggle with the wild animals.

"He set the meeting here to watch a show."

No one would choose this place for a normal business meeting. Dennis was going to be tough to deal with.

"The only lit building is that villa ahead. I can't believe Mr. Medici dares to live in such a spooky place. Doesn't he get creeped out every time he comes and goes?"

"The wild animals are familiar with him and his men. They won't attack them under normal circumstances, because they're used to humans. That's why the tiger didn't immediately attack us."

So Abella took a cautious approach, slowly backing away.

"I see." Theo felt enlightened. "Ms. Medici, if we run now, will more wild animals suddenly appear and attack us?"

"Possibly." So Abella walked slowly, as if taking a stroll.

In the villa, a man petted a small tiger like it was a kitten.

Watching the calm approach of the people on the surveillance screen, he found himself intrigued.
