Chapter 336 Skip Dinner Tonight
After several more unsuccessful attempts, the grandmother grew more anxious. Phillipe, observing this warmly stepped forward and offered, "Let me help, Grandma."
He held one end of the necklace while Granny Bourbon took the other, her trembling hands trying several more times to thread it through the tiny clasp, until finally securing it in place.
" Are you okay? You've been kneeling for a while." Grandma's voice was tinged with guilt for being so clumsy after her illness and causing her precious granddaughter-in-law to suffer.
"Not at all," Abella responded with an ever-present smile, "Thank you, Grandma."
Today, she finally got to express her gratitude for the necklace directly in front of Granny Bourbon.
" We're so lucky to have you in the Bourbon family." Granny Bourbon appraised her with satisfaction, affirming that the girl's beauty and elegance were a perfect match for her grandson, an impeccable pairing.
The more she looked, the happier she became, not to mention all the impressive qualities the young lady had…
Phillipe certainly brought home a treasure!
In the meantime, the butler brought in a bowl of soup, "Madam, your soup has cooled, so I've warmed a fresh bowl for you."
"I'll feed her," Abella stepped forward voluntarily.
Granny Bourbon quickly protested, "No need, let your grandpa do it…"
She didn't want to trouble the sweet girl.
But Abella didn't mind at all; she gently spooned up the soup and brought it to Granny Bourbon's lips.
Feeling slightly embarrassed yet pleased, Granny Bourbon took a sip and exclaimed with a smile, "The soup tastes sweeter when fed by Abella."
Phillipe's gaze softened as he watched the harmonious interaction, and he gently inquired, "Grandma, how have you been these past couple of days? Any discomfort?"
The doctor was present, a perfect opportunity for questions and clarifications.
"No... Abella's medicine works wonders..." Granny Bourbon said with a beaming smile, " It's just that I've probably slept too much. My head feels a bit foggy and I'm slow to react, feeling so weak, I can't even get up and walk; I need a wheelchair to go anywhere..."
"It's completely normal," Abella replied with a smile, gently feeding her the soup, "You'll feel better after a little while."
After all, waking up from a long slumber, it takes time to get back to normal.
"With those encouraging words, I'm already feeling better," Granny Bourbon grinned, sipping the soup spoon-fed by her granddaughter-in-law, her curiosity getting the best of her, "Abella, who taught you your medical skills?"
How could they be so remarkable?
Abella summarized her past experience, but Granny Bourbon couldn't hide her fury after hearing about it.
"Those heartless wretches from the Wilson family; it's all my fault for waking up too late..."
Otherwise, jail would have been too good for them!
"It's all in the past," Abella said with a soft smile, "Would you like another bowl?"
The soup was all gone now.
"No, I shouldn't... I can’t have too much just yet," Granny Bourbon, mindful of her recovering state, declined. After Abella set down the bowl, Granny held her hand with a tender look, "You're such a good girl, you've been through so much..."
Enduring torment at the hands of the Wilsons...
"From now on, the Bourbon family will make it up to you," Granny Bourbon patted her hand, with a lot more she wanted to say.
But Mr. Bourbon couldn't help interrupting, "Dear, have you forgotten about me now that you've got a granddaughter-in-law?"
He felt like he had been left out for quite a while.
"If you knew about Abella's other identity, you'd adore her even more!" Mr. Bourbon said teasingly, trying to pique his wife's interest, hoping she'd pay him some attention.
But Granny Bourbon didn't take the bait, continuing to chatter nonstop while holding Abella's hand.
Seeing his wife not showing any curiosity, Mr. Bourbon couldn't contain himself and blurted out, "Didn’t you always love listening to Anika Moses's music? Abella is Anika Moses!!"
"Abella is Anika Moses?" Granny Bourbon was astounded, staring at the young woman before her. She was so young and already an internationally renowned piano master?
"Yeah, how about I play a piece for you?"
On the way there, Abella had already decided she would play a few songs for her grandmother to lift her spirits.
Granny Bourbon was both thrilled and surprised as she hastily had a piano brought into the room. As Abella seated herself at the instrument, her fingers barely touched the keys before a melody, both mellow and captivating, filled the air, enchanting everyone listening.
Granny Bourbon couldn't help but close her eyes, completely entranced by the music.
Marvelous! Absolutely marvelous!!
Could this be one of Anika Moses' latest compositions? The style, the ambiance, the melody—it had to be Anika Moses! No average person could reach this level of artistry or craft such a masterpiece!
Who would have thought her beloved granddaughter-in-law was not only a miracle-working doctor but also a piano virtuoso!!
She recalled her husband mentioning that the young lady had founded an internationally renowned brand and was also managing the Medici family’s enterprise…
Truly outstanding!
As Abella's performance came to a close, Granny Bourbon, still yearning for more, opened her eyes filled with admiration and affection for the young woman...
"You must be Anika Moses..." she said, overwhelmed with emotion and adoration. "I can't mistake that style – is this a new piece you composed?"
I've never heard it before...
With a smile, Abella replied, "Just some improvisation."
Granny Bourbon's expression shifted to shock. Improvisation? And it was this exquisite?
It was even more sophisticated than Anika Moses' previous works, clearly indicating that the young lady had honed her craft considerably...
"Do you like it? I can play a couple more for you..."
"Wait!" Granny Bourbon suddenly interjected, turning her gaze to Scott, "Scott, hurry and find a recording device; we need to capture everything Abella is about to play..."
It was too delightful; she needed to savor it again and again!
Abella chuckled at her enthusiasm, "If you enjoy my playing, I'll compose some new tunes for you and send them to your phone, so you can listen anytime."
"That's wonderful," Granny Bourbon exclaimed, her heart lifted by the thought of having Anika Moses create music just for her, anytime, anywhere... She was overjoyed...
The Bourbon family had truly struck gold!
Meanwhile, Mr. Bourbon and Phillipe, feeling somewhat sidelined, couldn't help but feel envious— one wishing he were Anika Moses, and the other longing to be Granny Bourbon's favorite.
Observing the two women lost in their endless conversation, Mr. Bourbon and Phillipe exchanged glances, wondering if they should just skip dinner altogether...
If the evening continued this way, they would be completely forgotten...
After playing two more songs, Abella was showered with compliments from Granny Bourbon, who, like a little fan, even asked for her autograph.
Abella was taken aback. An autograph? For her grandmother?
Scott quickly handed over a pen and paper, and after Abella signed her name, Granny Bourbon examined the signature with growing delight.
"Good heavens, would you mind jotting down a blessing for granny right next to your signature?"
With a prompt from Granny Bourbon, and a chuckle from Elsa, Abella picked up the pen and wrote: "Wishing you health, happiness, and laughter."
