Chapter 422 Revelations of the Daughter-in-Law
Upon hearing the news, not only were Mr. and Madam Bourbon taken aback, but Phillipe was also pleasantly surprised. The girl, who they had come to know as a part of their family, had another identity. She was the acclaimed painter, Cordelia.
She had painted right before Phillipe's eyes, a moment he now realized was a privilege. It was no wonder that the hairpin locator she had worn the previous night was recognized so swiftly by the Bourbon family. Initially, Phillipe had suspected a mole among them.
Claire was overjoyed. She had never anticipated that the celebrated artist, Cordelia, revered in the art world, would be her daughter-in-law. Andrew, too, was thrilled. The idea that the esteemed Ms. Cordelia was his future daughter-in-law felt like a gift from fate.
Claire continued to share, "I remembered that mom has a fondness for Anika Moses's music. So, I contacted Anika to commission a new piece of music as a token of my apology for being away from home for so long."
To their astonishment, the internationally renowned piano virtuoso, Anika Moses, was also their daughter-in-law. The revelation was so overwhelming that Claire struggled to comprehend it.
"Anika Moses is extraordinarily talented. She composed the piece in less than a day. The new piece is incredibly beautiful," Claire continued, "The night she handed me the piece, I was poisoned, and she stepped in to save me."
Claire looked at Abella, her eyes brimming with affection and gratitude.
Phillipe, finally catching up with the revelations, commented lightly, "You are indeed fortunate. Not everyone has the luck to cross paths with Abbott."
"Abbott?!" Andrew and Claire exclaimed in shock and disbelief. The legendary Doctor Abbott was also their daughter-in-law? The realization was almost too good to be true.
People around the world sought Abbott's medical expertise. They had tried to find Abbott to consult for Mr. Bourbon and Madam Bourbon's health conditions but had never been successful.
"Abella performed my cardiac surgery," Ryan confessed, laughing heartily at the serendipity of it all. Madam Bourbon also chimed in, "Abella cured my disease, too."
Andrew and Claire exchanged glances, their eyes filled with surprise and joy. Who exactly was this extraordinary girl?
"Abella could immediately identify the tea I brewed last night, knowing exactly where it was from," Claire praised Abella endlessly.
Andrew added, "And that's not all. She could even discern the ingredients of our perfume..."
It was truly incredible.
To Andrew and Claire's surprise, their daughter-in-law was not only the artist Cordelia, the piano virtuoso Anika, and the doctor Abbott, but she also possessed a variety of unique skills. Despite her youth, she was knowledgeable, immensely talented, and exceptionally bright.
Andrew and Claire could hardly contain their smiles. They were overjoyed with their son's choice. It was a moment of revelation for Andrew when he realized, "So last night, my assistants weren't mistaken. It was Abella who was driving Phillipe's car..."
Up until that moment, he hadn't been sure about the girl's relationship with Phillipe, so he hadn't mentioned Phillipe was his son, only asking if the girl knew him. The girl, thinking he was looking for Phillipe to cause trouble, had defended Phillipe, insisting that any issues should be brought directly to her instead.
Her protective tone should have given their relationship away, but he had been too engrossed upon meeting "Ms. Cordelia," blinding him to the obvious.
Claire recalled the previous night when she had praised her future daughter-in-law's boyfriend for being fortunate to have such an outstanding girlfriend. The girl had defended that her boyfriend was equally remarkable. In retrospect, Claire was immersed in sweetness.
Did Phillipe even know how protective his fiancée was of him in private?
At the moment, Abella was in high demand. Madam Bourbon wanted her to sit next to her, while Claire disagreed, wanting to sit with Abella herself.
"Abella is often in your company. Allow her to sit between myself and Andrew during dinner this evening!" Claire insisted, her grip firm on one of Abella's arms. Madam Bourbon acquiesced with a chuckle, "Very well, very well, let Abella sit with you tonight." "You don't know what dishes Abella likes. I do!" Ryan was not one to back down easily.
"Simply tell me, and I shall assist her with her meal!" Claire retorted.
Meanwhile, Phillipe found himself standing to the side, feeling utterly disregarded. It was a surprise to him that the agreeable Claire, as described by Abella, was his own mother... and even more so that from the moment they had arrived, Abella was no longer solely his, but the subject of a tender rivalry, while he was entirely overlooked.
In reality, Abella had identified the middle-aged gentleman and the elegant, affluent woman as Phillipe's parents, her future in-laws, upon their arrival. A sense of surprise mingled with a hint of joy in her mind, for her future parents-in-law were aAurorable and treated everyone equitably.
"Abella, when you mentioned you were out shopping this afternoon, was it to procure a welcome gift for us?" Claire inquired, her curiosity piqued upon noticing the extravagant gift Abella had brought.
Abella responded with a charming smile, "Why don't you open it and see if it pleases you."
"Even a wildflower plucked from the roadside would brighten my day!" Claire exclaimed, before unwrapping the package to reveal a complete set of limitededition QY jewelry.
That afternoon, Abella had visited the store to request the most exquisite packaging they had, departing with the newly released limitededition jewelry set.
Upon seeing the gift, Phillipe commented nonchalantly, "Ah yes, QY is also a venture founded by Abella."
At this revelation, Andrew and Claire exchanged glances, utterly astounded.
Good heavens! Their prospective daughter-in-law was akin to a hidden treasure trove. How many identities did she possess?
"Abella, you are truly extraordinary!" Claire couldn't help but express her admiration, before noticing a card within the bag. It was a QY free pass card, which essentially meant that any purchase made at QY with this card was complimentary.
Claire was utterly taken aback.
Their daughter-in-law's generosity was astounding; it almost made them feel somewhat stingy in comparison!
Also included in the bag was a set of skincare products. Phillipe surmised, merely from the appearance of the bottles and jars in the gift box, that it was likely a whitening and nourishing skincare set that Abella had developed herself.
"Abella, you are so considerate…" Claire couldn't resist enveloping her in a warm hug, moved by the multitude of gifts she had received.
For Abella, this was the first time she had been embraced so closely by a woman she had only met twice before…
"How can you be so wonderful," Claire was on the brink of tears, almost overwhelmed by the surprises.
Andrew opened another gift box and gasped, "Works by Magnolia? Six... six pieces??"
Their daughter-in-law's generosity knew no bounds!
To gift six pieces of valuable artwork all at once was unprecedented!
The first piece had already become a legend in the market, with offers reaching up to three hundred million dollars, yet no one was willing to part with it...
Where on earth had Abella sourced them? How much had she spent??
