Chapter 704 Abella Guessed It

"Wait, is today Grandpa Derek's birthday?" Lola's eyes lit up with surprise and joy. "I gotta go celebrate Grandpa Derek's birthday!"

Before Bonnie could say no, Lola jumped in, "I got a few dresses in my suitcase. And for a gift, I'll just grab something from the welcome gifts I brought for Uncle Caleb. How's that sound?"

Seeing her all excited, Bonnie smiled and said, "Lola, tonight it's just gonna be me and Abella. You stay home and be good, okay?"

Lola didn't see that coming. Her eyes showed a bit of hurt.

"There'll be plenty of birthday parties for you to hit up in the future. Let's skip this one tonight," Bonnie said, then turned to Abella. "It's getting late. Let's roll."

"Okay." Abella followed Bonnie, and as they walked past Lola, she could feel Lola's burning hatred and jealousy.

Lola had been through so much but still hadn't learned her lesson.

Lola watched Bonnie leave the main building and couldn't hold back anymore. She quickly caught up and grabbed Bonnie's hand. "Aunt Bonnie, let me see you off."

Lola clung to Bonnie's hand like she was marking her territory, totally ignoring Abella.

Normally, Lola would say some fake nice things.

But Bonnie was sharp, so Lola didn't dare to be too obvious.

Lola just held Bonnie's hand, trying to get closer. "Aunt Bonnie, it's been so long since I saw you. You're leaving before we even had a chance to chat. I just wanna see you off so I can spend a bit more time with you."

Bonnie laughed. "Since when did you get so affectionate?"

Lola smiled sweetly. "Ever since I thought I might never see you again, Aunt Bonnie, I've regretted not spending more time with the people I care about. Aunt Bonnie, how long has it been since we had a nice walk like this?"

"Probably a long time." Bonnie stopped and turned to Abella. "Why are you walking so slow? Come on."

As Abella got closer, Bonnie took her hand and said, "There'll be a lot of relatives at Grandpa Derek's place. Don't be nervous; I'll introduce you to everyone."

"Okay."

"Abella never gets stage fright," Lola said with a smile, "In that way, she's just like Aunt Bonnie. I need to learn from both of you."

Bonnie laughed but noticed that Abella stayed quiet and didn't smile, like she hadn't heard Lola.

Lola saw them off to the gate of the manor and reluctantly said, "Aunt Bonnie, you and Abella should come back early, or I'll miss you."

"Okay," Bonnie opened the car door and let Abella in first. Then she said, "If you get hungry or thirsty, just tell the staff to get you something."

"Don't worry, Aunt Bonnie. It's not my first time here!" Lola gave a sweet smile. "Goodbye, Aunt Bonnie. Goodbye, Abella."

Abella was speechless. Yesterday, she had poured two bottles of wine on Lola, and today she could still smile and say goodbye like nothing happened.

On the way, Bonnie looked at the quiet Abella beside her and asked gently, "Abella, aren't you curious why I'm only taking you to tonight's birthday party and not Lola?"

"Is it 'cause of her attitude?" Abella guessed. "Or maybe Aunt Bonnie wants me to get to know my mom's side of the family better?"

"Yeah, but those aren't the main reasons." Bonnie smiled, looking ahead. "You've probably heard a lot of rumors. Can you guess why I stayed with Alexis for so long without thinking of leaving?"

Abella seemed to catch on to something.

"Did you figure it out?" Bonnie saw the light in her eyes and smiled even more beautifully. "You guessed so quickly. No wonder you're my niece."

Abella wasn't entirely sure but took a shot, "You were hurt and taken to Alexis by Gregory. Normally, you'd want to leave as soon as you woke up and find a way back to Uncle Caleb because I can tell you and Uncle Caleb truly love each other and can't be apart. But you didn't leave. You stayed and even managed to win over many of Alexis' men, who are very loyal to you. It wouldn't have been hard for you to have one of them inform Uncle Caleb, but you didn't. This means there was a reason worth staying for. You and Uncle Caleb truly love each other, so a big part of the reason you stayed must be related to Uncle Caleb."

Bonnie's smile deepened. "Go on."

Abella added, "Uncle Caleb has a lot of power in Verdania. There shouldn't be anything you need to handle personally. Just tell him, and he can take care of it. Unless it's something Uncle Caleb himself hasn't noticed, and you suddenly discovered it. It must be something significant, related to Uncle Caleb's safety or my grandparents' safety. Otherwise, it wouldn't be worth staying in a dangerous place. As far as I know, Uncle Caleb and the Wolf Clique have never had any conflicts. They have no interactions. But you suddenly stayed with Alexis, the leader of the Wolf Clique, for so long. This can only mean one thing: Alexis has something you want. As for what that is, I haven't figured it out. Please enlighten me, Aunt Bonnie."

Bonnie laughed, impressed by Abella's smarts. "You've figured out this much; that's impressive."

Everyone was saying her chastity was ruined, that she was defiled by Alexis and shamelessly returned to Caleb.

"Your thoughts are different from others."

Abella knew who Aunt Bonnie meant by "others" and said calmly, "I'm not as shallow as they are."

If she only looked at the surface, how could she be a leader?

"I envy Kimberly for having such a smart and beautiful daughter." Bonnie laughed. "You're right. While I was with Alexis, I accidentally discovered that someone from the Harris family was in contact with him, asking him to send someone to kill your grandfather and Caleb. I thought it was serious and decided to stay and gather evidence."

Bonnie explained everything in detail, "Alexis was very cautious and left no traces. It took me a long time to gather some evidence. Then Caleb found out I was alive and suddenly attacked, killing Alexis."

"I get it." Abella suddenly realized. "But the trail didn't end there! Because..."
