Chapter 1088 Slapped Twice

"Where'd you come from? And where'd you get the money?"

Lola felt a pang of guilt as Henry's questions hit her. She couldn't even bring herself to look him in the eye. "It was all left to me by my dad before he passed. The people, the money, everything."

Henry had suspected it was her for a while, but hearing her admit it and seeing her like this broke his heart.

Tears streamed down his face, and he felt utterly shattered. He closed his eyes, trying to hold back his emotions, but the anger and disappointment inside him were too much to contain. "Was it really you?" he asked, his voice trembling.

Lola was stunned. What did he mean? Did he not have any proof? Was everything he did just to get her to confess?

Had she fallen for it?

Cecil, standing nearby, played back a recording on his phone, and Lola's voice echoed from it.

"You... you guys..." Lola looked from Henry to Cecil, realizing they had teamed up to trick her into confessing.

But now, she had to endure it. She couldn't afford to get angry.

After all, Henry was her biggest support. If he fell, she'd have nothing left.

"Henry," Lola reached out to grab his hand.

"Don't call me," Henry's heart was shattered into pieces. He was beyond disappointed and in unbearable pain. His tears wouldn't stop, and his voice was hoarse. "How could you be so cruel!"

He hated himself, hated his ignorance and arrogance, hated that he didn't listen to his family, causing them unnecessary suffering.

"You don't deserve it." Henry looked at the jewelry she wore, the clothes he bought her, and the custom wheelchair she sat in, feeling nothing but regret.

She didn't deserve his love.

"Get out." Henry closed his eyes, trying to control his overwhelming emotions. After a while, he opened them and said, "From now on, don't show up in front of me—get as far away as possible. I don't want to see you again."

Lola's heart turned cold.

She couldn't believe the man in front of her no longer loved her.

He had promised to stay by her side no matter what happened, but now...

At that moment, a nurse arrived on the sixteenth floor, holding a critical condition notice. She approached Henry.

"Mr. Hall, Ms. Hall's condition is worsening. The doctor issued a critical notice, fearing she won't last more than two hours. Please sign here and prepare yourself."

Henry looked at the critical notice in the nurse's hand, feeling a strange sense of calm, no longer as helpless and scared as before.

He knew Abella was on this floor. After saving his mother, she would surely have a way to save his sister.

So his tone was calm, "I'll sign it later."

The nurse was puzzled. Henry didn't seem anxious or worried, almost indifferent.

It was a stark contrast to his previous concern for Whitney.

Did he have a bad relationship with Melanie?

His reaction was too calm.

She glanced at Cecil, who used to be restless whenever Melanie's condition worsened, but now he was also calm.

The nurse wondered if she was seeing things, rubbing her eyes, but Henry and Cecil remained composed.

Lola glanced at the critical notice in the nurse's hand, recalling the doctor saying Henry's mother wouldn't last more than two hours.

Yet, she still didn't plan to hand over her phone, her eyes dimming, seemingly unwilling to help.

Henry noticed this and felt utterly disappointed. Even now, Lola remained cold-hearted. She couldn't even pretend to care, which made him even more disheartened.

After the nurse left, Lola maneuvered her wheelchair forward again, trying to grab Henry's hand. "Henry, please, give me another chance. I can't live without you."

Her tears fell, "Didn't we promise to be together forever, never to part?"

Henry had never found the word "forever" so repulsive. "What you can't live without is fame and status, a life of luxury! Not me!"

"Henry," Lola cried, "You mean so much to me."

"Are you still acting in front of me? Lola, this is murder," Henry was furious. "You want me to forgive someone who killed my mother? My sister? And live the rest of my life with her?"

"I was really angry at the time. They humiliated me, belittled me. If they had treated me better from the start, I wouldn't have thought that way. It's all their fault." Lola blurted out, then quickly shut her mouth.

"So now you think it's all someone else's fault?" Henry was beyond disappointed. He closed his eyes for a long time before suddenly slapping her. "This slap is for my mom."

Everyone was stunned, not expecting Henry to hit her, and so hard that her mouth bled.

"And this slap is for Melanie!" Henry slapped her again. "You made them suffer for so long... Two slaps aren't too much."

Lola never expected to be slapped twice, especially in front of so many people. She never thought Henry would treat her like this.

"He'd rather slap you twice than call the cops. Lola, you missed out on someone who truly loved you. You'll never find another like him in your lifetime!" Cecil felt relieved and happy, knowing his friend Henry would no longer be harmed by this wicked woman.

As for Henry not calling the police, Cecil wasn't worried. Lola had done so many bad things, and Abella would surely deal with her.

"Mrs. Hall... No, I should call you Ms. Flores. Last time, Mr. Hall knelt outside the corridor for two hours to get medicine to save you."

Lola was stunned, not knowing about this, and looked at Henry in shock.

But Henry didn't want to talk about the past anymore.

"And before, I overheard Mr. Hall on the phone, learning he was threatened while trying to save you. I don't know who threatened him or with what, but despite being under attack and his family's strong opposition, he still got engaged to you. He had you in his heart! He truly wanted to spend his life with you."

"Ms. Flores, you've really broken Mr. Hall's heart this time!"

"Mr. Hall treated you so well, but you didn't cherish it at all. You even tried to kill his mother and sister. Your heart is too cruel."
