Chapter 801 The Liar

Lola had just stepped out of the restroom when she saw Phillipe with his arm around Abella's waist, making a big scene. "She's the one I've chosen for life," he announced, loud and proud.

Lola was floored, her feet glued to the spot. She couldn't wrap her head around Phillipe saying something like that in front of everyone.

"Congrats, Mr. Bourbon, on finding your soulmate," a bunch of guests chimed in.

"Wasn't there talk about Mr. Bourbon being engaged to some Medici heiress? Guess that was all just gossip."

"How did Mr. Bourbon and Stringless even meet? We're dying to know."

"Did Mr. Bourbon chase after Stringless first?"

"Isn't Stringless the one who butted into someone else's relationship?" That last comment made the room go ice-cold.

Everyone turned to see Willow standing there, looking like she didn't mean to say it out loud.

People parted like the Red Sea, leaving Willow exposed in front of Phillipe and Abella.

"What do you mean by that?" Abella shot back.

Phillipe's eyes locked onto Willow. "Spreading lies, are we?"

Willow, not used to this kind of heat, especially from Phillipe and Abella, felt a shiver. "Isn't it true?" Her voice wavered.

The crowd started buzzing, "Could it be that the Bourbon-Medici engagement was real, and Phillipe and Lola were a thing, but Stringless messed it up?"

"No way, Stringless seems too high and mighty for that."

"But Willow doesn't seem like the type to make stuff up."

"Who told you this?" Abella had a hunch.

Willow clammed up, but under the pressure, she asked, "Is it true?"

"If I say no, will you believe me?"

Willow didn't buy it.

"So, Lola told you?" Abella guessed.

Lola thought, 'Oh crap, where did this Willow come from? She better not drag me into this mess.'

"Then it must be Enid?" Abella figured it out.

All eyes turned to Enid, who was trying to sneak away but froze under the stares. 'Damn it, Willow, why are you putting me in the spotlight, especially with Phillipe here?'

"Slandering my girl comes with a price," Phillipe's gaze turned icy as he looked at Enid. "You got three seconds to spill."

"Mr. Bourbon." Enid didn't think she'd get caught.

"One." Phillipe's patience was non-existent, his voice sending chills.

"Mr. Bourbon, let me explain."

Before she could finish, Phillipe cut her off, "Two."

His tone was cold and final.

Everyone knew Phillipe didn't mess around; when he said there'd be consequences, he meant it.

Bradley rushed in. "Mr. Bourbon, it's all a big misunderstanding. Enid, spill it, what do you know? Mr. Bourbon, have some champagne, let me handle this. Enid must've been misled."

Not far off, Lola heard the commotion and quickly whispered to Henry, "Let's bounce."

Henry shook his head. "No way, you've been treated like crap, and I'm just supposed to stand here? Who pushed you down, and what's with the wine stains all over you?"

"We'll talk at home," Lola urged, worried Enid might spill the beans any second, making it impossible to leave.

"Someone messed with you right in front of me, and I'm supposed to just let it slide?" Henry, thinking of her face smeared with cake and her clothes stained with wine, wanted to tear the culprit apart.

"Don't you get it?" Lola tugged at him. "I'm exhausted, I wanna go home and crash. You coming or not?"

"Why are you dodging them?" Henry glanced over at Phillipe and Abella. "Is it them? Phillipe? Abella? I'll go have a word."

"Henry!"

Before Lola could explain, Bradley was already chewing out Enid. "You trying to ruin our family? Can't you see Mr. Bourbon's waiting for your answer? If you don't talk, the Olson family is toast!"

Enid, knowing Phillipe's power and that he could do anything, had no choice but to spill the truth.

"It was Lola. Lola told me herself. We're good friends. She said she and Mr. Bourbon were in love, and Stringless came between them."

The guests were floored.

So it was true.

The engagement between the Medici and Bourbon families was real, and Stringless did mess it up.

No one expected this kind of drama in wealthy families.

On one side, a rich heiress; on the other, a talented beauty. It wasn't shocking that Phillipe chose the latter.

Though everyone thought it, no one dared say it out loud or show any expression that might tick off Phillipe. They just quietly watched the drama unfold.

Phillipe smirked coldly, thinking, 'Lola again.'

Abella was also speechless. Lola's tricks were always the same, fooling one person after another. When would it end?

"Go get Lola," Abella told a nearby servant.

The servant, loyal to the Clarence family for years, saw Abella as the true granddaughter and followed her orders without question.

Seeing the servant coming her way, Lola shook off Henry's hand. "If you won't go, I will!"

She almost sprinted to get out of there.

But the servant, using an earpiece, called for backup, and they all blocked her path. In no time, Lola was dragged before Abella.

"Did you tell Enid that you and Phillipe were in love, and I came between you, causing your breakup?" Abella asked, eyeing the liar in front of her.

"I..."

With Phillipe there, Lola didn't dare lie, but with so many guests watching, she didn't want to humiliate herself either.

Thinking fast, she slapped Enid.

Enid was stunned.

Even Bradley was confused. "What's wrong with you? Don't think you can do whatever you want just because you're the Medici family's daughter. Enid is my daughter; you have no right to hit her."

"Enid, I can't believe you'd go this far!" Lola accused angrily.
