Chapter 660 Can't Stay at Home Anymore
Abella didn't think she'd run into her everywhere. Just as she was chatting with Steven about the future of the clothing company, she got up and said, "I'm heading to the clothing company."
"Abella, you're here? I made some snacks for Steven, you should try some too!" Lola walked in with a sweet smile.
Even though her chin was hurt and her smile wasn't as bright as usual, her eyes had this genuine look.
"No thanks." As Abella was about to leave, Lola quickly blocked her way, looking all pitiful. "Abella, don't be mad at me, have some snacks to chill out."
Seeing Lola about to put on a show again, Abella was speechless.
"It was my bad last time, I'm sorry." Lola bowed sincerely in front of Steven. "Please forgive me."
Patrick was confused. 'What's going on between Abella and Lola? Do they have beef?'
Lola kept bowing, not planning to stop until Abella forgave her.
Lola was sure this would make Abella forgive her.
What Lola didn't expect was.
"I got other things to do, so I'm out," Abella said lazily, "Oh, by the way, I just remembered something. Do you have Maria's video saved? Want me to send you a copy?"
Lola's face went pale instantly!
That was from a long time ago. Maria had secretly unscrewed the cap of the cooking oil and poured it on the floor, trying to make Abella fall, but ended up hurting herself.
At that time, Abella kept the evidence!
Seeing Steven still beside her, Lola quickly put on a smile. "Since Abella has other things to do, I won't bother you. We can talk after you're done."
Abella raised her eyes in victory. "Steven, I'm leaving now."
Steven noticed the tension between them and stood up. "I'll walk you out."
"Steven, I made snacks for you." Lola was a bit unwilling, watching Steven's back as he stood up, feeling a bit resentful. 'It's just a short walk, does Abella need to be so pampered?'
Steven followed Abella out of the office and softly asked, "What's Maria's video about? Did something else happen between you and Lola?"
"Nothing." Abella pressed the elevator button. "Steven, I'll send you the follow-up development plan for the clothing company tonight."
"Abella." Steven vaguely felt that Abella was hiding something from him, and that Maria was at fault.
Otherwise, Lola wouldn't have shown that expression just now.
"I'm leaving." Seeing the elevator door open, Abella walked in. Steven immediately asked, "Abella, did Maria mess with you?"
Seeing that Steven wouldn't give up until he got an answer, Abella raised her eyes and said, "It's not really bullying, just being too clever for her own good, nothing much."
As the elevator door closed, Steven roughly guessed what had happened. Maria must have tried to do something and ended up suffering the consequences.
It seemed Maria had bad intentions and couldn't stay at home anymore.
When Steven returned to the office, he saw Lola clumsily opening a lunch box with her bandaged hands, displaying the fancy snacks inside.
"Steven, you're back? Try the snacks I made!" Lola said with a smile, "I whipped these up before I got hurt today. I also left some at home for Mom, Dad, and Winston."
Steven plopped down on the sofa, eyeing the once kind and simple Lola, who now had these sincere and pure eyes. She seemed the same, yet different.
"Did you make all these?" Steven asked, looking at the twenty or thirty delicate pastries in front of him.
"Yep, the chef showed me how!" Lola looked at him expectantly. "Give 'em a try."
"Your cold hasn't fully cleared up, you should rest more." Steven picked up an apple pie and took a bite. "Not bad."
Though not as good as a pro chef, it was pretty impressive for her first go.
"Really?" Lola beamed. She picked up an apple pie herself, but as she was about to take a bite, the movement tugged on her chin wound, making her wince in pain.
"You haven't told me how you got all these injuries," Steven suddenly asked.
Lola's movements stiffened. She thought, 'Steven's clearly heard from others that I got hurt while chasing after Abella to apologize. Now he's asking on purpose to see if I'll badmouth Abella. I won't fall for it!'
So she pretended to be all generous and understanding, softly saying, "I accidentally fell."
Not mentioning Abella at all.
"Fell for no reason?" Steven asked again.
"Yeah, I was in a hurry and tripped." Lola quickly changed the topic, picking up a delicate four-compartment lunch box and handing it to Steven. "Steven, try these. These are chocolate cookies. Do they look good?"
"They look decent, not bad." Steven gave a positive answer and picked up another one to taste. "The taste is good too."
"With your praise, I'll keep working hard!" Lola smiled, pure and beautiful. "Next time, I'll make even more delicious stuff for you, Steven. There's also juice here."
Seeing Steven eating, Lola suddenly sighed, "Steven, it's so nice to sit and have afternoon snacks with you like this. It's been ages since we, as siblings, have laughed and talked like this. Thanks for treating me like a sister and spoiling me all these years."
Steven raised his eyes and said, "Then tell me, what's the deal with Maria's video?"
Lola was stunned by his question and felt a bit guilty. "Steven, what do you mean? I don't know what you're talking about."
Steven added, "I can tell, Maria has some evidence in Abella's hands. Tell me the truth, if it's not serious, I can handle it accordingly."
Lola didn't believe Steven would handle it accordingly. She had only said a few bad things about Abella in front of friends, and Steven had punished her severely, even implicating Maria and docking her pay.
If Steven found out that Maria had poured oil to make Abella fall.
Maria must be punished!
Lola replied, "Steven, you misunderstood. It's just a small video, nothing important. Abella just asked if I had saved it."
Steven clearly didn't buy it. "You're trying to fool me with that?"
"Really, it's nothing. If you don't believe me, ask Abella." Lola was certain that with Abella's personality, she wouldn't badmouth others behind their backs.
Steven was silent for a moment, then looked at Lola. "Lola, did Maria teach you a lot of things?"
