Chapter 852 Her Parents Finally Agreed to See Her
Kimberly's gaze fell outside the window.
In the icy and snowy landscape, Lola didn't know if it was the cold or the pain, but her thin body couldn't stop trembling. She bent down with difficulty, still trying to pick up the broken tree branch in front of her.
"Ms. Medici," Abbie cried, shaking her head, "stop torturing yourself."
Lola stretched out her hand but couldn't reach the branch. Whether it was because she hadn't fully recovered from her previous illness or because she had been beaten too harshly, she once again collapsed weakly into the snow.
"Ms. Medici?" Abbie cried as she tried to help her up. Lola's body was limp, as if she had no strength left. Abbie struggled several times before she could barely get her upright. "Mr. Medici, Mrs. Medici, Ms. Medici is not going to make it! Please come out and see her!"
Beckett and Kimberly were filled with mixed emotions.
At that moment, Lauren quickly entered the living room. "Mrs. Medici, something has happened."
She handed the envelope in her hand to Kimberly.
Lola knelt outside, her teeth chattering from the cold.
"Ms. Medici, you must be very cold. I'll go get you a coat."
As Abbie was about to get up, Lola held her down with her icy hand and said, trembling, "No need."
She had deliberately dressed lightly, hoping to soften her parents' hearts.
The colder and more miserable she was, the more likely she was to move her parents.
After a while, the main door opened, and Kimberly and Beckett stood there.
"It's Mrs. Medici and Mr. Medici. They've come to take you inside," Abbie said, wiping away her tears and feeling genuinely happy for Lola.
The moment Lola saw her parents, tears welled up in her eyes. She knew that her parents still cared about her.
Jacob was right; as long as she appeared pitiful in front of her parents, they couldn't remain stone-hearted.
She had deliberately tampered with the tree branch, hoping her parents would see it break and feel sorry for her, allowing her to return to the main house.
It seemed her plan was about to succeed.
The snow fell harder and harder. Kimberly descended the steps, walking towards Lola step by step.
Beckett held an umbrella for her.
Lola weakly pleaded with Abbie, "The branch broke. Use your hand and hit my face hard."
Clearly, she was saying this for Beckett and Kimberly to hear.
"Ms. Medici?" Abbie was terrified and shook her head repeatedly. "Your face is already pale; you can't take any more hits."
"Hurry up," Lola grabbed her hand, seeing her parents getting closer, and pleaded bitterly, "Teach me a lesson I'll never forget. If you don't hit me, I'll do it myself."
Kimberly stopped in front of her.
"Fine, I'll punish myself," Lola said, about to pretend to hit herself.
Unexpectedly, the next second, Kimberly raised her hand and slapped her hard.
Lola was stunned, and even Abbie was shocked. What was going on? Wasn't Kimberly here to take Lola back to the main house? Why did she slap her?
It was clear that Kimberly had put all her strength into the slap. Lola's face was red and swollen.
Kimberly, still furious, gave Lola a second heavy slap.
The crisp, loud sound echoed in the air, even startling the two servants cleaning the garden nearby.
They thought Beckett and Kimberly had come out to take Lola back.
The slap was so heavy that Lola couldn't take it and fell into the snow, not understanding why her mother had hit her.
Kimberly, her hand trembling, threw a thick envelope at Lola's face. Lola was stunned for a moment before picking it up. It was a lawyer's letter from Kiki.
The lawyer's letter was only two pages long, but the following dozen pages were screenshots of her online comments insulting Summer, along with her arguments with Summer's fans.
[How can anyone sing so perfectly in such a noisy environment? It must be pre-recorded.]
[The voice you hear is processed. I know Summer personally; her voice isn't that good. She doesn't dare to sing live; she just lip-syncs.]
[I know Summer. She's a distant relative of mine. Not only is her singing mediocre, but her face under the mask is also ugly. Only her eyes are barely passable. Overall, she's not even a tenth as good as me.]
[And her lyrics and compositions aren't her own. She has a team of hundreds behind her. Don't ask me how I know.]
Not only these, but even her arguments with Summer's fans were screenshotted and printed.
[Summer's singing is terrible, she's ugly, and she has no talent. Can't people speak the truth these days?]
[I really know her. She's a freshman in college now. If you don't believe me, you can dig it up yourself.]
[Jealous of her? A joke!]
[You guys are brainless!] [You must be crazy to be fans of such trash.]
[Yes, she's trash. I said it. What can you do about it?]"
[If you have nothing better to do, you can come serve me. My status would scare you to the extreme.]
Lola didn't finish reading, but she knew what she had said.
She grabbed Kimberly's pant leg, wanting to explain, but Kimberly pulled her leg back, saying incredulously, "You actually insulted Abella like this. On the surface, you act like you want to change, but behind the scenes, you're still the same!"
"Mom?" Lola looked shocked. "Abella is Summer? I really didn't know. No one told me. I've been locked up next door for so long, feeling miserable. I happened to see a video of Summer singing. She sang so well. At first, I just questioned it, but then Summer's fans started insulting me, so I replied on purpose. I didn't know Abella was Summer. Really, you have to believe me."
Lola cried, tears rolling down her face, looking particularly innocent and pitiful.
"You didn't know Abella was Summer? You clearly told the netizens you knew her and that she was a freshman in college!" Kimberly's voice was filled with disappointment. "You called her trash, and ugly, and accused her of not writing her own songs. What hundred-person team? You've really let me down! You're terrifying!"
