Chapter 491 Clues Uncovered
At that moment, the sound of a roaring engine approached rapidly.
The girl in the driver's seat exuded a cool and fierce aura, her face calm and composed.
The car sped around the group of men in black at an incredible speed. Except for Winston, the other men in black fell to the ground, hit by bullets.
Abella tossed the empty gun aside, got out of the car, and helped Winston up. "Are you okay?"
Winston looked at Abella in front of him and suddenly said urgently, "Didn't I tell you to come back later?"
Just as he finished speaking, a dozen more cars approached. New men in black had arrived.
"You take Patricia and Diana and leave first," Abella said.
'How dare they hurt Winston!' she thought.
Abella glanced at the approaching vehicles, her eyes turning cold. None of these people would get away!
Winston didn't argue further. He escorted Patricia and Diana up the aircraft stairs.
Meanwhile, Phillipe had also sent reinforcements.
The situation was increasingly in their favor.
Winston got the two elders onto the plane. Diana held his hand, reluctant to let go. "Let's go together," she urged.
"I still need to find Nicole. You go first." Winston knew Diana was worried about their safety. He flashed a charming smile to reassure her. "Don't worry, we'll be fine."
"But your injury..."
"I'll get it bandaged in a bit. I need to help Abella first. I'll contact you later." Winston instructed the people inside to close the plane door.
Diana patted the door, watching Winston's departing figure, and cried again, "Be careful, Winston. Be careful in everything."
Ten minutes later.
Abella and Phillipe's men finally defeated the group of men in black. Seeing the dozens of bodies lying around, Abella felt a sense of relief. Luckily, she had returned. If she had gone after Terry, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
At that moment, another plane descended from the sky.
"Ms. Medici, Mr. Bourbon has arranged another plane for you, direct to Triangle City," a bodyguard said respectfully, "Please follow me. There's also a medical kit on the plane to help Mr. Medici."
Abella supported the bloodied man beside her. "Can you still walk?"
"It's nothing. This little injury is nothing to me." Winston winced in pain as he accidentally pulled at his wound.
Abella smiled. "It is a pity that Nicole didn't see that scene just now."
"How could I let her see it? She'd be upset." Winston winced again, not expecting even the cold wind entering his wound to cause such excruciating pain.
At that moment, he recalled what Sam had said before. When Abella used to face those dangers alone and got hurt, how much pain did she endure?
How did she bear it?
Abella helped Winston up the aircraft stairs.
"Ms. Medici, here's what you asked me to buy." Joe arrived, panting, carrying a bunch of food.
Abella took it, thanked him, and helped Winston onto the plane.
"You specifically had someone buy food for me?" Winston was a bit surprised.
"Didn't you say you were hungry?" Abella said.
"I..." Winston was momentarily speechless. He had wanted Abella to come back later, not expecting her to send someone else to buy food.
There was no wrong.
What could he say to Abella?
On the plane.
Abella treated Winston's wounds. Each bloodstain looked shocking.
Winston's tolerance was impressive. Anyone else would be incapacitated by just one or two of these wounds.
Winston's endurance was indeed remarkable. Fortunately, these wounds weren't deep. It seemed those people didn't intend to kill him.
"What are you thinking about?" Winston couldn't help but ask.
"Those people probably wanted to capture you alive, so they didn't aim for vital spots." Abella analyzed, "If it hurts, just scream."
"How could it hurt?" Winston said, but as the medicine touched his wound, he gritted his teeth, even though Abella's touch was gentle. The combination of the wound and the medicine made him break out in a cold sweat.
It was excruciating.
Abella couldn't help but laugh at his expression. "Scream if it hurts. I won't laugh at you."
"I don't feel any pain," Winston said, but his face contorted in discomfort.
"When we get to Triangle City, follow my lead," Abella said with a smile, applying the medicine, "It's chaotic there. Don't go out alone."
Winston was puzzled.
How did Abella seem to know Triangle City so well?
At that moment, Winston's phone vibrated. It was a message from Lola.
Everyone knew that private planes used satellite communication signals, allowing for internet access and phone calls.
Despite his injuries, Winston managed to pull out his phone and saw that Lola had sent him several messages.
Lola: [Winston, I heard from Mom that you and Abella went to the States. I'm off this weekend. Can I come to visit you?]
Lola: [I really want to take pictures at the Palace of Fine Arts and feel the sea breeze at McKee Beach.]
Lola: [Please let me come. I promise I'll only stay for two days.]
Winston knew Lola must have heard that he and Abella were in the States and thought they were there for fun without her, hence her pleading.
Winston: [Abella and I are not here for fun. We have some business to take care of. Next time, I promise to bring you both here for a vacation.]
Lola: [What business are you and Abella taking care of? I want to join too.]
Lola: [Take me with you. I promise I won't cause any trouble.]
Winston: [It's serious business. Be good and stay home this weekend; keep Mom and Dad company. I have some things to do now, so let's chat later.]
His arms and shoulders were injured, as were his back. Every word he typed caused him pain, but he still responded to Lola with the utmost gentleness and patience.
However, on the other end, Lola felt Winston's perfunctory attitude, and her heart grew colder.
So, Winston didn't even want to pretend to comfort her anymore?
He didn't even want to chat a bit longer?
"Winston, stop looking at your phone. Eat something and then lie down to rest," Abella said softly, putting away the medical kit, "I'll have someone help you."
"Okay."
"You, come here and help Winston eat," Abella said, looking at a nearby subordinate.
"Yes." The subordinate quickly picked up the food and began feeding Winston.
Abella's phone had been vibrating for a while. She saw it was Sam calling and answered.
Sam hadn't expected to be a step too late. When he followed the trail to the ranch in the suburbs, he found that the boss had already left by plane.
He could only call and ask, "Ms. Medici, are you still in Florida?"
"About to head to Triangle City on the plane," Abella replied, "What's up?"
"I've got some leads on the orphanage you asked me to investigate," Sam reported, "It's more complicated than we thought. You won't believe it, but the entire orphanage..."
