Chapter 715 Adding Fuel to the Fire
"You two could totally be the slickest couple ever," David chimed in, but seeing their looks, he quickly backpedaled. "I mean, the smartest, most in-sync couple."
"It's mostly 'cause Abella pitched in," Bonnie said, grabbing Abella's hand. "She even got Naomi to spill. The reason they're so off-balance is 'cause back in the day, Grandpa didn't split things fair. He gave the whole company to Dad and just a few shares to them."
Bonnie's earring was a tiny camera, and she had recorded everything that just went down and sent it to David's phone. "I shot it over to you on WhatsApp. Check it out."
David knew the gist of it, but he didn't have the guts to watch the video. After all, these relatives were the brothers he'd loved most of his life.
He never thought that after he got sick, these brothers would want to wipe out his whole family.
Including himself, Caleb, Bonnie, and the newly found Abella.
They wouldn't spare any of them!
"Let's not dwell on this sad stuff. Abella, I think I'm beyond saving and ready to join your grandma. I never expected you to be so capable, able to cure such a complicated illness!" David looked at Abella with admiration, showering her with praise, "So young and amazing, you really blow me away! It's a blessing from above that brought you back to this family. Having someone like you is a blessing for both the Medici family and the Harris family."
Since they were in an RV, the whole family was chilling on the couch. Abella smiled at David. "I'm just glad I could do something for Grandpa's illness."
At least, her return to this family wasn't for nothing.
"This is way more than a small contribution. You cured both me and my wife; it's all thanks to you."
David beamed. "Your medical skills are gonna let me live many more years. From now on, I'll make up for everything I owe you!"
Abella's smile grew. "Seeing you so full of life in front of me, I have no other wishes. I just hope you and Grandma stay healthy."
David added, "Abella, no wonder Caleb talks you up so much. Now that I've met you, I like you a lot too!"
It was a bummer he left in a rush and didn't bring a gift.
He'd have to make it up to Abella when they got back!
Just then, Bonnie's phone rang. It was Derek calling. She grinned as she put the call on speaker.
"Bonnie, how's David's health?" Derek's fake concern came through the phone, making David's face darken as he angrily turned his head away.
Bonnie sneered. "Thanks, Uncle Ulysses and Uncle Derek, for your concern. Dad's still in the operating room."
"What about Caleb?" Derek jumped at the chance to ask.
"He's talking with the doctor about the condition. Abella's already gone into the operating room to help. Uncle Derek, if you have something to say, just spit it out."
Derek chuckled, not expecting Bonnie to be so sharp. "Bonnie, you're a smart cookie. I'll cut to the chase. We're all family, and you don't want to see us fall apart, right? David's really sick; he can't handle more stress."
"What are you getting at, Uncle Derek?" Bonnie asked, cool as a cucumber.
"I said you're smart, so you know what I'm hinting at. You also know I mean no harm." Maybe worried Bonnie was recording, Derek chose his words carefully.
Bonnie laughed. "Uncle Derek, you want me to zip it about today? But you know I never do business at a loss."
Derek sensed an opening and quickly said, "Name your price. If I can give it, I will."
"What you can give, Dad and Caleb can also give me. Your usual stuff doesn't interest me."
Derek's face darkened. "Then what do you want?"
"There's one thing Dad and Caleb can't give me," Bonnie's smile grew even more dazzling. "Uncle Ulysses and Uncle Derek are ready to retire. I won't beat around the bush. I want all the shares from Uncle Ulysses, Aunt Angie, Uncle Derek, Aunt Naomi, Uncle Yancy, and Uncle Jerold, and I want you to announce your withdrawal from the company, never taking a dime from it again."
Derek couldn't believe her audacity, daring to make such a demand!
"Uncle Derek, talk it over with them. Don't say I didn't give you a chance. You have one hour." With that, Bonnie hung up.
"Hello? Hello?" Derek couldn't believe what Bonnie had just said. After a few seconds, he realized and started shaking with anger. Bonnie was indeed cunning!
After putting away her phone, Bonnie smiled at Abella. "Abella, do you think they'll go for it?"
"Aunt Bonnie, you know they won't."
Bonnie laughed. "What do you mean?"
"They already want everything Grandpa and Uncle Caleb have, which shows their greed. What they have now isn't enough for them. But you asked for everything, leaving them with nothing. How could they agree?" Abella paused, then continued, "You deliberately told them Grandpa is in the operating room and Uncle Caleb is talking with Dr. Anderson. This Dr. Anderson is someone both sides know, so they can guess which hospital Grandpa is in. They will think everyone is too busy to gather people, making it the best time for them to act."
Both Bonnie and Caleb, as well as David, looked at Abella with admiration and approval, as if waiting for her to continue.
"You deliberately made an impossible demand to tick them off and only gave them an hour to think, forcing them to act within that hour."
"Dad, isn't Abella smart?" Bonnie smiled at David. "How is she so sharp?"
David nodded with a smile. "A very smart kid."
From the start, Bonnie never intended to cooperate with Derek and the others. She wanted to provoke them into acting quickly.
Sure enough, after hearing Derek's words, Ulysses, who had been on the fence, couldn't hold back any longer and flipped the table in anger! 'Bonnie's ambition is too great; she has to be taken out!'
"Get the men ready. Follow my orders tonight!" Ulysses' eyes flashed with a fierce light.
