Chapter 258 The Overlooked One
It was such a precious item, rumored to only be passed down to a daughter-in-law...
Could it be that Abella has already gained Grandma Bourbon's recognition?
But Grandma Bourbon is in a vegetative state, and there haven't been any signs of improvement.
Could it be Mr. Bourbon's intention?
Never did Margaret expect that as soon as Abella returned to this house, she not only received love and favor from her older brother and sister-in-law but also gained the affections of Mr. Bourbon and Phillipe. Looking at Lola, it was evident that her eyes were filled with envy and resentment. She was truly an impatient child.
"Phillipe has arrived?" Mr. Medici stood up cheerfully, gesturing towards the seat beside him. "Come sit here quickly."
"I apologize for arriving late, something urgent came up." Phillipe said, turning his gaze towards George and Margaret. In a gentlemanly manner, he continued, "I sincerely apologize for keeping everyone waiting."
His demeanor was dignified and noble, exuding an irresistible aura that was undeniable. With his masculine and charismatic charm, he was captivating.
"Hello, Phillipe." Lola greeted him. She was dressed up for today's event, and hoping to catch Phillipe's attention for a little longer.
Elsa also called out "Phillipe!" but he only nodded lightly in acknowledgement and his gaze fell on Abella, not lingering on them for another second. Lola's eyes were filled with a touch of disappointment.
"Phillipe, I heard you've been busy lately? Even when you're busy, you should take care of yourself. Though, you're still young and having ambition is a good thing, when you get older, like me, you'll feel sore here and there, and it's not worth it! You should take more time to rest, your health comes first!" George said with a concerned smile.
Margaret maintained her dignified smile and said, "Phillipe doesn't need your reminder!"
Margaret glanced at Phillipe affectionately, then looked at Abella. "Phillipe is handsome and hard-working, while Abella is exceptionally talented and beautiful. They truly make a perfect match!"
"Absolutely! Hahaha." George laughed, "Phillipe, my brother finally managed to find his daughter. You must treat her twice as well from now on! Otherwise, us uncles and aunts won't approve, you know!"
"Don't worry, I will cherish this fate and treat Abella well." Phillipe said, and he cast another appreciative glance at Abella.
Seeing that the atmosphere was getting lively enough, George changed the topic, still smiling, and asked, "I heard you recently acquired several groups and bought the YX district and YD district? I heard that the YX district will be developed into a residential area, and the YD district is for building a super, luxurious shopping mall?"
Before George could finish his sentence, Mr. Medici, with a smiling face, interrupted, "Let's not talk about work today. Phillipe rarely visits, and he's been taking care of Abella and working hard. You've been through a lot." he finished, looking at Phillipe.
He poured a glass of wine, and Phillipe also refilled his own glass, raising it and gently clinking them together.
"You're too kind. I am very fortunate to be able to take care of Abella."
Mr. Medici was about to take a sip of his drink when he heard Mrs. Medici and Abella remind him in unison, "Don't drink too much."
This caught both Mr. Medici and Phillipe off guard, and they immediately put down their glasses simultaneously.
"It's time to eat, so let's hold off on the alcohol for now!" Mr. Medici said with a cheerful smile, evidently fearing his wife's disapproval.
"Uncle's words make sense."
It was clear to everyone that Mr. Medici listened to Mrs. Medici, and Phillipe, in turn, listened to Abella.
Phillipe glanced at Abella's expression and whispered in her ear, "I was late earlier, so I won't drink anymore."
"What were you busy with at the company today? Why did you get off work so late?" Phillipe lowered his head and asked her, observing her face.
Abella's eyebrows and eyes were extremely delicate, with a touch of aloofness that seemed unaffected by the world's troubles. It combined well with her inherent wildness, making her exceptionally beautiful.
"There happened to be a temporary collaboration, and the partners came to the company." So Abella stayed behind to discuss the collaboration, and in the end, the other party readily signed the contract.
"Which partner is it?" Phillipe asked.
"YC." Abella replied.
"They're good." Phillipe acknowledged, "Reliable."
Abella smiled, "It's rare to hear those words from you."
Their quiet conversation looked intimate and natural.
George, Margaret, and Elsa could tell that their feelings were not just for show due to their interaction. From the looks in their eyes, it was evident that they were truly fond of each other.
At that moment, someone knocked on the door to the private room, and Blake pushed it open and walked in.
He took off his sunglasses, looking handsome and exuding a sunny vibe. "Sorry for being late!"
Upon entering, he greeted everyone cheerfully, then searched for Abella's figure, ruffling her hair. "Little sister, I'm here! Someone, bring a chair!"
Initially, Mr. Medici was sitting beside Phillipe, with Abella on Phillipe's other side, while Lola was beside Abella. However, Blake insisted on sitting in between Abella and Lola.
Actually, he wanted to sit between Phillipe and Abella, but he was afraid of his parents and Phillipe's fists.
"How was your day, Abella? Busy?" Blake asked after he sat down, but before Abella could answer, he looked at Phillipe, "It must be tough for Abella to manage a company at such a young age. You should help share the burden."
"I want to share her burdens…" Phillipe shrugged as his words trailed off, but his future wife wouldn't allow it, so he had to find other ways to collaborate privately. It was difficult.
"I can handle it." Abella said, clearly speaking up for Phillipe.
Phillipe's lips immediately curved upwards. He understood that his soon-to-be-wife cherished him!
"Forget about company matters until tomorrow. Shall I take you out to have fun?" Blake actually wanted a chance to get closer to his little sister. Without waiting for Abella's rejection, he whined, "I'll start working in a few days, and once I get busy, you won't see me for months."
"By then, Abella won't be bothered by you." Phillipe added.
"You can't wait for me to leave!" Blake said, grumbling.
Elsa noticed Lola's dejected expression beside them. From the moment Phillipe entered and Blake appeared, their attention was solely on Abella, and nobody spared a glance for Lola.
