Chapter 900 Beg Me

Maria deliberately drew out the last syllable, teasing Abella, before finally saying, "Umbra League."

It was actually the Umbra League.

"When did this happen?" Abella stared into her eyes and asked.

"That story goes back many years, but I don't feel like talking about it now. I just want to slash your face." Maria laughed sharply, the knife's tip poised to strike Abella's face.

"One last question." Abella lifted her gaze, unafraid, meeting Maria's eyes. "Was it you who planned the fire all those years ago?"

"Me?" Maria laughed in surprise. "Do you think I have the power to burn down an entire hospital and keep it hidden for so many years? Abella, you give me too much credit. I'm not that capable. I just happened to seize the opportunity when it came along."

The Umbra League used to have influence all over the world, deeply rooted and intertwined.

On the surface, some were small shop owners, some were street vendors, and some were office workers.

But secretly, they all served the Umbra League, doing its bidding.

Maria's ordinary identity was exactly what the Umbra League needed.

Abella thought, 'Could it be that the fire back then was the work of the Umbra League, and Maria just joined them by chance? Then who plans the fire?'

In the hospital, Louie burst into the ward. "Mr. Dennis, we've found Ms.Medici! She's been kidnapped!"

"What did you say?" Dennis immediately pulled out his IV, not caring if blood dripped from the needle mark on his hand. He asked angrily, "Who dared to touch her?"

"It seems to be the Umbra League at Greenwood Villa."

Seeing Dennis stride out of the ward, Louie hurried to follow, noticing that Dennis's body hadn't fully recovered and his figure still looked a bit frail. Louie couldn't help but say, "Mr. Medici..."

"Shut up." Dennis entered the elevator, seething with rage. "Dare to kidnap my sister? They're tired of living!"

On the eighteenth floor of Greenwood Villa, Abella lifted her gaze to Maria. "You joined the Umbra League, working for them, to rely on their power, so they would protect you. When the Medici family investigated the fire, you had the authority to mobilize people to obstruct and interfere."

"That's right." Maria looked at her. "But you, for the sake of someone named Nicole, came out to cause trouble, making the whole Umbra League a mess, leaving it in shambles. Even if the Umbra League's power has diminished, the people standing behind you are all loyal to the Umbra League! You can't catch them all!"

During the Umbra League's heyday, she did gain some benefits, but it wasn't as lucrative as being a servant for the Medici family.

In the Umbra League, she could mobilize forces and do dirty work. For instance, a servant who opposed her long ago met a tragic end at her hands.

That was the real benefit the Umbra League brought her!

"Who's your boss? You still haven't told me who planned the fire. If I'm gonna die by your knife, at least let me know the truth."

Maria laughed, a mix of pleasure and pity in her voice, her laughter cutting through the air like a blade. "You can't handle him. Don't think too highly of yourself. Even the whole Medici family combined isn't a match for him. You should worry about yourself. Next, you'll become a hideous monster."

The knife was about to fall.

Suddenly, a voice rang out. "Ms. Hughes."

A middle-aged female assassin, Sable, walked in quickly, her face troubled. She motioned for Maria to step aside.

Maria, annoyed by the interruption, walked over with the knife. "What is it?"

"The people from the Medici family are here." Sable's face showed concern.

"Who?" Maria's eyes narrowed.

"Dennis."

Maria relaxed upon hearing the name.

"Don't worry."

Sable looked puzzled. Dennis's power in Britonia was immense. They had always avoided him. Why suddenly not fear him today?

"Relax, I've done my homework." Maria had heard that Dennis and Abella, despite being siblings, fought whenever they met. Besides brawling, they raced cars recklessly. Dennis had even threatened to kill Abella if he caught her.

Abella had no choice but to hide, given Dennis's overwhelming power in Britonia.

"He hates her so much, he probably wants to catch her and kill her himself," Maria said, glancing at Abella with a satisfied smile.

Abella probably never imagined that one of her many brothers would hate her so deeply.

Seeing them tear each other apart made Maria feel great. Blood ties meant nothing without daily interactions.

Maybe Dennis just couldn't stand her self-righteous, holier-than-thou attitude.

In his heart, Lola was probably the most important!

"But what if he's not here for Abella, but to investigate the fire?" Sable speculated. "He might be after Viper."

After all, he had been tracking Cruz's whereabouts, and Cruz was killed by Viper.

"If he wants Viper, tell him Viper was killed by Abella. If he wants Abella, tell him to wait, and you'll deliver her to him personally." Maria's gaze returned to Abella. She hadn't had her fun with Abella yet. She couldn't hand her over to Dennis so quickly. If Dennis killed Abella in one go, it would be too easy.

"You go talk to him. My identity can't be exposed."

In Dennis's eyes, she was just a servant of the Medici family.

He couldn't know about her connection to the Umbra League.

"Leave it to me." Sable nodded and went downstairs.

Maria's gaze returned to Abella. She gripped the knife handle and walked step by step toward her.

"You have so many enemies. I thought about handing you over to him, but I can't let you die so easily." Maria noticed the phone on the table had fallen over. She picked it up and spoke to the person on the other end. "Lola, watch closely. See how I carve up her face."

"Wait, Maria!" Lola suddenly exclaimed, looking at Abella with a mix of excitement and satisfaction. "I want her to beg me."

"What?" Maria didn't understand what she meant.
