Chapter 475 Lying

Winston asked straightforwardly, "How much did you spend? I'll pay for it for you."

"No need! You work so hard. How can I let you pay? I can pay for it myself." Lola tried to show her consideration.

But Winston insisted, "I promised to reimburse you. How much was it? Tell me."

Lola mischievously smiled. "I won't tell you."

"You're still a student, and I'm already earning. I should have taken you shopping last night, but something came up." Winston felt guilty for canceling on her. "If you don't tell me, I'll ask Maria."

"Don't ask her." Lola quickly held Winston's arm tighter.

"Winston, you don't have to pay. I'm not here for reimbursement. I just wanted to tell you that I've already bought Christmas gifts for everyone, including you. I can't reveal it now, but I don't need a gift from you." Lola explained.

"Why?" Winston was puzzled.

"Because you've bought me so many things over the years. Now, you should buy more for Abella," Lola suggested.

Winston saw the sincerity in her eyes and softened. "No, I can't do that. I can't leave anyone out. You and Abella are both important to me."

At that moment, Maria passed by the garden, and Winston called out to her, "Maria, come here for a moment."

Maria looked puzzled deliberately.

"You were with Lola last night. How much did she spend?" Winston asked.

Lola quickly signaled Maria not to say anything.

Winston interpreted it as Lola trying to save him money, which touched him even more.

"Miss Lola, you bought so many things for all the members of the family. There's probably not much left in your account. Since Winston asked, should I tell him?" Maria cautiously sought Lola's opinion.

Lola anxiously signaled Maria again not to say anything, not wanting Winston to spend more.

Winston asked again, "It's okay, just tell me. How much did you spend?"

"Miss Lola, please don't blame me. Since Winston asked, it was 26 million dollars," Maria said with a brave face.

"Maria!" Lola immediately let go of Winston's hand. "Why did you say that? You promised to keep it a secret!"

Maria felt sorry. "Winston won't blame you. You didn't spend the money recklessly. Most of the things you bought last night were for the family. You didn't buy much for yourself."

In fact, Maria was lying. Lola's purchases were all solely for herself.

"You shouldn't have said that. Don't you know that Winston wants to reimburse me?" Lola was still worried.

Maria was surprised. "Oh? I didn't know."

Winston took out his phone, logged into his mobile banking app, and transferred 30 million to Lola's account.

"You've been considerate, buying so many things for the family. Use the remaining amount to treat yourself." Winston said gently,

Lola heard the notification sound from her phone, saw the 30 million deposited, and immediately became anxious. "Winston, why did you transfer so much to me? I don't want it!" she protested.

"I have money. Just take it." Winston patted her head, his voice gentle. "I want to apologize to you. Something came up last night, and I had to leave in a hurry. I didn't mean to stand you up. Be good; don't take it to heart. I didn't mean to leave you behind and go out with Abella."

"Winston, I'm not someone who makes a fuss! You and Abella must have had something important to deal with. I'm already 18, not an 8-year-old who doesn't understand! The way you put it makes me seem narrow-minded, easily angered, and someone who holds onto trivial matters."

"How could that be? My Lola is generous, buying so many things for the family. Where's the narrow-mindedness?" Winston smiled warmly and asked, "The holiday is over. Are you going back to school?"

"Yes, I'm leaving this afternoon."

In fact, Lola felt a bit reluctant.

She didn't want to leave home, let alone leave her family.

But she was different from Abella, the top student, who could wander outside without going to school.

She was afraid that the bond she had painstakingly built with her family over these days would diminish as time went by.

"Over the next few days, I still have other things to take care of. After they're done, I'll take you and Abella out to play. You can also think about where you want to go first, and I will consider it," Winston said gently.

"Okay."

She was so happy to hear that Winston was going to take her out to play!

"Winston, I'm going to school this afternoon. Honestly, I can't bear to leave you. Once I go, I won't be able to come home for several days." She coquettishly hugged Winston, like a lovely child, holding on tightly.

The light in Winston's eyes became even gentler. "No matter when you come back, I will always be your Winston. We still have a lot of time together."

Winston looked at the girl in front of him and assured her, "Whenever I'm free, I'll accompany you wherever you want to go."

"Winston, you're so good to me." Lola's smile was as bright as honey, sweet and warm.

"Maria, when you help Lola pack later, bring her some snacks. Our Lola really likes eating," Winston said.

"I don't!" Lola pouted again.

After their walk, Lola went back to her room, and Maria also found a reason to come up.

Lola said, "Maria, do you think I am wrong? It seems that Winston really sees me as a sister, but I..."

Lola's words were interrupted by Maria.

"He sees you as a sister now, but that might change in the future!"

Maria's words made Lola feel very hurt and sad.

"Didn't I say before that as time goes on, they will spend more and more time with Abella, and their family bond will deepen? On the contrary, you will become more and more like an outsider. You saw what happened today. Not even a servant cares about you!" Maria said.

Lola felt a bit hurt inside. "But I still think it's not right to deceive Winston. I spent 13 million dollars, and you said 26 million dollars."

Maria had doubled the amount!

"Winston is not short of money. Look, he gave you 30 million in one go. With this 30 million in your account, you can buy a lot of things!" Maria said.

She then added, "The best house in New York costs at least $200,000 per square foot. With $30 million, you can buy a 1,500-square-foot house. Although it's not as good as Long Island Manor, it's still personal property, written in your own name."
