Chapter 669 Rushing to the Hospital to Save Someone

At that moment, Beckett had a lightbulb moment. "Hey, didn't Abella give us some pain relief cream a while back? Why don't we show it to Dr. Aaron and see if it works better and faster?"

"Oh yeah, the pain relief cream!" Kimberly suddenly remembered. It was a gift from Abella not too long ago.

Beckett scrambled to find it.

Elijah checked out the ingredient list and, to his surprise, couldn't stop praising it. "Why didn't I think of this? Combining these ingredients. This formula is top-notch."

Beckett and Kimberly were confused. Beckett was the first to ask, "Dr. Aaron, are you saying Abella's cream is better?"

"Way better than mine," Elijah admitted with a grin. "These ingredients are gentle but super effective. You can slap it on five to six times a day, and you'll feel a lot better by tonight."

"Seriously?" Kimberly was skeptical. She didn't expect Abella's concoction to be so effective. Turns out, Abella's reputation as a medical whiz in Abbott was well-earned.

"Then hurry up, honey. Let me put it on you," Beckett said, opening the cream.

"Be gentle, it hurts."

"We should call Abella later and tell her her cream is a miracle worker, even Dr. Aaron is impressed!" Beckett said while applying the cream. "Abella is really amazing at everything."

Kimberly felt a bit proud. "Of course, she's my daughter after all."

"Yeah, honey, you're the best, and the daughter you gave birth to is even better."

Standing at the door, Lola bit her lower lip, her nails digging into her palms. She didn't expect her parents to praise Abella like this behind her back!

Meanwhile, Caleb led Abella from the helipad into the main building, which was decked out and looked super fancy and grand.

"Your room's on the second floor. I've already had it cleaned, and the bed, sofa, and furniture are all brand new. Let me show you," Caleb said.

"My visit must've cost you a lot, Uncle Caleb."

"Don't be silly. I'm thrilled you came. I wanted to redo the whole second floor to your liking but was worried there wasn't enough time and it would mess up your stay."

Caleb got in the elevator and personally took her to the second floor for a tour.

Every decoration and design here screamed high-class taste.

"This is your bedroom." Caleb opened the door, revealing a spacious, bright, and cozy room.

"See if anything's missing, and I'll get it for you."

"Everything's perfect." Abella glanced around. "Which floor is my grandpa on? I want to see him."

"He's in the hospital. His condition is stable for now. You should rest first, and I'll take you to see him tomorrow," Caleb said just as his phone rang. Seeing it was from the hospital, his face darkened. "Okay, got it. We'll decide everything when I get there. I'll be there in ten minutes."

After hanging up, Caleb told Abella, "Your grandpa's condition just took a turn for the worse. We'll talk on the way."

"Alright."

Before coming here, Abella had gone over her grandpa's medical records. Initially, he only felt chest tightness and had trouble walking. Later, tests showed high blood lipids and blood pressure, which he didn't take seriously, only taking some meds to ease the chest tightness and keeping up with exercise as the doctor advised.

Later on, her grandpa would sometimes feel short of breath, have chest tightness, and sweat like crazy, then just crash out immediately.

"The attending doc at the time gave him meds for the chest tightness and shortness of breath, but they didn't do squat. Your grandpa kept saying he felt off, so I got a second opinion. That doc found something weird. You know what it was?" Caleb asked Abella, who was sitting next to him.

Abella nodded slightly. "People with chest tightness don't just fall asleep right away."

"Exactly. The other doc said the same thing. He also noticed that your grandpa usually had high blood pressure, but sometimes it was super low or even unmeasurable. He suspected a heart attack and recommended hospitalization."

During the hospital stay, a CT scan showed a streaky shadow in her grandpa's pericardium, but the medical team was stumped and had to look for treatment abroad.

"At that time, your grandma was really sick, and James couldn't handle everything alone, so I brought your grandpa to Verdania and got him into a hospital here. After detailed exams, they found a lot of fluid in his pericardium. Further tests ruled out viral and tumor-related pericarditis, but they still couldn't figure out the exact illness or its cause." Caleb felt heartbroken for his dad, who went through countless tests, blood draws, and injections. His dad took so many meds that he felt nauseous. Several times, his dad held his hand, wanting him to give up.

His dad was truly worn out and didn't want to go through any more.

"Your grandpa's been in the hospital forever without a diagnosis. Last week, he felt short of breath, had a rapid heart rate, and sweated buckets. The medical team had to resuscitate him once, but he felt crappy again after a few days, with symptoms worse than before."

Abella speculated. "Could it be a missed diagnosis?"

"A missed diagnosis?"

"Yeah, some conditions don't show up with standard tests."

"Then you should take a look at your grandpa later."

"Okay."

At the hospital, Abella followed Caleb to the VIP floor on the sixteenth floor. The nurses there were super polite to him, and even the medical team was waiting.

"Mr. Harris."

"Mr. Harris, you're here?"

"We're waiting for your call on the patient's condition."

"Let me introduce you. This is Abella. She's got mad skills in medicine. Fill her in on the details and take her to see the patient."

Four or five doctors looked at Abella, their expressions a mix of confusion and skepticism.

They thought, 'Is Mr. Harris so desperate that he's bringing in a young girl? This girl looks like she's barely out of her teens. Does she even know medicine? And we're supposed to guide her and explain the patient's condition? Is this a joke?'

"Why aren't you moving?" Hearing Caleb's words, the doctors had to swallow their doubts and lead Abella while filling her in on the patient's condition over the past two days.

Abella entered the ward. This was her first time seeing her grandpa. He lay on the bed with his eyes closed, looking frail, but you could tell he must have been quite the figure in his younger days.

Abella glanced at the monitor beside the bed and placed her slender fingers on her grandpa's wrist.

The doctors exchanged puzzled glances.
