Chapter 686 Injured

Gabriel was mid-sentence when Phillipe shot him a warning look.

Gabriel choked back a laugh and quickly stepped back, saying, "Ms. Medici, I gotta tell you something. Mr. Bourbon here can't catch a wink. He's thinking about you every second, checking his phone like a maniac to see if you've hit him up, stressing about your safety, and wondering what you're up to."

"Shut it," Phillipe warned, "Do you really need to spill all that?"

Gabriel chuckled as he backed towards the door, adding, "Well, someone had to say it since Mr. Bourbon here won't."

Gabriel's tone was all innocent-like.

Abella laughed and looked at Phillipe. "So you didn't listen to me? You didn't get any rest today?"

"I was worried about you," Phillipe said, touching her face. "We'll talk about it later."

"Okay."

Everyone around them was floored.

Gregory hadn't seen it coming that Phillipe was here for Abella.

Phillipe being all soft and doting on Abella? Who would've thought?

Jacques was just as shocked. Abella had a boyfriend, and it was none other than the big shot from the Bourbon Group, Phillipe.

His face fell instantly.

Gregory knew that falling into Phillipe's hands was a fate worse than death. As soon as he stepped out of the room, he spotted a rusty nail on the beat-up wall of the alley and went to slam his head into it.

Abella saw what he was up to and quickly blocked him.

The nail scratched the back of Abella's hand, and she kicked Gregory to the ground at the same time.

"Abella." Phillipe's heart skipped a beat. He grabbed Abella's hand and saw a small cut on the back of it.

It felt like his heart was being ripped open, aching like crazy.

He asked if the medicine in the bottle could stop the bleeding, and when he got a yes, he immediately applied it to Abella, his movements gentle and quick.

Jacques watched how much he cared and thought about how rough he had been when he poured the medicine on his back earlier.

It was like he was a whole different person.

"You wanna die? Not that easy!" Gabriel had Gregory tied up and punched him a few more times. "You hurt Ms. Medici, you're in for a world of pain!"

"Kill me or torture me, do your worst!" Gregory shouted.

He knew being captured by them was worse than offing himself.

Phillipe finished bandaging Abella's wound and looked up with cold eyes. "I wonder if your family is as fearless as you. Seems like you haven't seen them in a while. How about we gather your whole family tonight? Before you die, you can enjoy some family time, and then you can all die together."

"What are you planning?" Gregory hadn't expected Phillipe to go after his family. "They don't even know what I do. Everything I did is on me. If you go after my family, I won't let you go even as a ghost!"

Gabriel punched him again. "Threaten Mr. Bourbon? You don't even deserve to be his opponent alive, let alone dead."

"What do you want? Come at me! Leave them out of this!" Gregory was terrified for his family's safety.

"You have no right to negotiate with me, especially after you hurt her." Phillipe extended his hand, and Gabriel immediately placed a small knife in it.

Anyone who hurt Abella had to pay.

Seeing Phillipe inch closer to Gregory, Jacques got worried that Caleb's target might get offed by Phillipe too soon.

Abella stood off to the side, looking like she was used to this kind of thing, her face pretty indifferent.

The rain was coming down in buckets. Phillipe's guys held an umbrella over him, while others formed a human wall behind him, blocking Abella's view.

In no time, Gregory's screams pierced the air.

Phillipe tossed the bloody knife aside.

Gabriel handed him a disinfectant wipe, and after cleaning his hands, Phillipe chucked it aside too.

Phillipe warned, "You should be grateful I only cut your tendons. If Ms. Medici had been seriously hurt, none of your family would be breathing."

Gregory's whole hand shook in pain, his nerves screaming, making him wish for death, almost passing out.

Only now did he truly see Phillipe's ruthless side. The tenderness, dedication, and doting he showed in the room were only for Abella.

To everyone else, he was still cold-blooded and cruel.

Phillipe glanced at his men, who immediately grabbed Gregory and pushed him forward.

Phillipe took the umbrella from his guys, walked over to Abella, and pulled her into his arms. "Stay close, don't get wet."

Jacques watched Phillipe hold Abella's shoulder and walk away step by step, stunned for a couple of seconds before following them.

Gregory, walking ahead, kept looking back. "Don't hurt my family, please. I'll tell you everything I know, just spare them."

His family was his weak spot.

But no one responded to him.

Phillipe kept holding Abella as they walked forward. Their backs looked perfectly matched, making Jacques' gaze even dimmer.

The rain was so heavy that almost no one was outside. Seven or eight black cars were parked along the street. Gabriel respectfully opened the car door for Abella.

"Gabriel, take Gregory to my uncle and let him handle it personally," Abella instructed.

"Yes, Ms. Medici."

After Abella got in the car, Phillipe also got in. Gabriel closed the door for them and, seeing Jacques nearby, was a bit surprised and asked, "Did you come with Ms. Medici?"

"Yeah." Jacques had planned to take a cab back.

But from inside the car, Phillipe said in a calm voice, "Gabriel, let him in."

Gabriel was a bit surprised that Phillipe would let a stranger in to mess with his time with Abella.

Without thinking much, Gabriel opened the front passenger door and made a respectful inviting gesture. "Please."

Jacques didn't refuse and got in the car, looking at the people in the rearview mirror.

Phillipe's arm was around Abella, looking at her hand with concern. "Does it hurt a lot?"

"This little injury is nothing," Abella said nonchalantly, smiling. "If you had been any rougher earlier, my lead would have been cut off."

"I know he's useful to you, so I spared his life. Don't worry, he won't die," Phillipe said, looking at her hand with concern. "Once he's no longer useful, I won't let him off easy."

Jacques felt like he was getting to know Phillipe all over again. He seemed as cold-blooded and ruthless as the rumors said.

"I missed you," Phillipe whispered in Abella's ear, "Did you miss me?"

"I've been busy lately," Abella said, making Phillipe a bit disappointed. "I don't miss you as much as before."

Her next words made Phillipe smile again.
