Chapter 919 Slander

Earlier, a bank employee approached Abella, explaining that a hundred million dollars in the bank could earn over three million dollars in interest annually.

But Abella couldn't keep her money in the bank; most of it went into research, and some was given to her team as benefits.

After ending the call, Abella handed the phone back to Phillipe, asking with interest, "Trying to buy my people off?"

"It's a reward," Phillipe immediately corrected her. "They've been through thick and thin with you; they deserve some reward."

"Are you saying I don't give them enough normally?"

"Of course not," Phillipe's survival instincts kicked in. "I just don't want you to spend your money. From now on, keep what you earn for yourself. I'll handle all the expenses."

"You have a lot of money?"

"I need to earn more to give you a better life."

Abella couldn't help but laugh, and the two shared a smile.

At Long Island Manor, Kimberly woke up and went to the living room. The coffee table had been replaced, the broken glass was gone, and the crying figure was nowhere to be seen. Everything was tidied up, and fresh flowers had been placed by the servants, filling the air with a faint floral scent.

Everything seemed perfect, but Kimberly felt empty inside, as if time had passed and things had changed.

At that moment, Beckett came downstairs and saw her. Both of them felt heavy-hearted.

"I talked with Caleb for a long time yesterday, took some medication, and fell asleep. I didn't stay with you; that's my fault." Although Beckett was also sad and angry, he first comforted his wife, hugging her and saying, "I thought having two daughters would make the house livelier, but now that one has done so many bad things, it's better not to have her."

Kimberly nodded, but her mood remained low.

"Mom and Dad will be here soon. Let's get ready to welcome them."

"Okay."

Kimberly was about to follow him when a servant appeared, trembling. "Mr. Medici, Mrs. Medici..."

She really didn't want to come, but Lola had cried all night, her voice hoarse.

She couldn't take it anymore and nervously said, "Lola has some questions. I think I should relay them. Mr. Medici, Mrs. Medici, you always talk about fairness, but why did you only take family photos with Ms. Abella Medici and forget about her?"

"Mrs. Medici, why did you secretly give Ms. Abella Medici an unlimited credit card when Mr. Blake Medici came home, and told her to keep it hidden from Lola?"

"Mr. Beckett Medici, why did you not even look at the gifts she sent, even though Maria reminded you they could be used with the medicine package Ms. Abella Medici sent, but you only used Ms. Abella Medici's package?"

"Mrs. Medici, and the skincare products she sent to you, bought with Lola's competition prize money, why did you use them to clean her hands instead of valuing them? Why did it take Maria's repeated reminders for you two to reluctantly use her gifts?"

"What do you mean Maria reminded us? Maria reminded us of what?" Kimberly was angry and suddenly realized that Maria had been badmouthing them behind their backs, causing the rift with Lola.

Maria had been smearing their reputation?

'Damn it. She deserved worse!' Kimberly cursed in her head.

"Lola's gifts were probably kept by Maria. We had to ask several times before Maria pretended to find them."

"As for the card given to Abella, we didn't want Lola to see it and think we were biased. How much can Abella spend? She's my biological daughter, finally found, can't I give her some money?"

"And about the family photos, Lola went to a friend's wedding and didn't tell us beforehand. We wanted to take photos with her, but when the photographer team arrived, she wasn't there. What could we do? Ask the team to come back another time? Besides, Abella was finally found. What's wrong with taking some photos with her? Is that a crime?"

The servant trembled with fear; it wasn't her fault. She had just heard Lola crying and talking to herself all night and wanted to relay it to Beckett and Kimberly, afraid they were being smeared without knowing.

It seemed Maria had been stirring up trouble behind the scenes, causing misunderstandings.

"I also heard Lola say that even Ms. Lott looked down on her, sending her leftover gifts that Ms. Abella Medici didn't want..."

"Leftover gifts? Who said that?" Kimberly was even angrier. "Camila sent the same number of gifts to Abella and Lola, just different styles because they have different tastes."

Only then did she and Beckett realize that Maria had been badmouthing them behind their backs, and Lola had been easily influenced.

"From now on, don't relay anything she says." Beckett felt that it was pointless to say more. Although they knew Maria had been stirring up trouble, if Lola had a strong mind, no amount of outside influence would matter. The main issue was that Lola's own heart was unsettled, leading to repeated mistakes.

"That Maria..." Kimberly was so angry she felt dizzy again.

She hadn't realized Maria was so malicious. If the servant hadn't suddenly relayed this, they wouldn't have known how badly Maria had smeared them over the past six months.

The servant went to the basement and relayed Beckett and Kimberly's words to Lola through a door. Lola's eyes lost focus, wide open in disbelief, tears streaming down.

She couldn't believe that Maria had deceived her.

Every time Maria talked about these things, she was indignant, gritting her teeth, as if Beckett and Kimberly were really biased, and Maria was standing up for her.

But things had come to this point, Beckett and Kimberly had no reason to lie to her.

Why would Maria make her hate Beckett and Kimberly? Why would she try to drive a wedge between them?

What benefit did Maria get from this?

Meanwhile, Beckett supported Kimberly's shoulder as they walked to the grass near the helipad.

Caleb and Bonnie were already waiting there.

Seeing Caleb and Bonnie, Kimberly couldn't help but share her thoughts, "Abella sent a surveillance video earlier. When she was being bullied, someone was always standing up for her, wanting to take the punishment for her. Does Abella have some other identity? Why does she have followers? Should we investigate this or wait for Abella to come back and ask her?"
